  1. I build all my drive shafts with a 12 inch long heavy duty rubber hose in the middle. This not only absorbs drive line shocks, making life easier on rear end, transfer case components but can be stretched or compressed to fit various configurations.
  2. Oil temp gauge on passenger cars and light duty trucks impress the tourists but are unnecessary to the operation of the vehicle. Just watch the coolant temp. When operating a aircraft I won't even start the take off roll until the oil temp gauge reads at least half way but that is a different situation.
  3. I have one from a '95, ax15, 231TC that i believe will work. Might want to check and make sure. $30 shipped.
  4. Before putting out any cash for a new pump , check your air filter-TBI connecting hose. On some models the hose comes out in the middle of the filter housing and interferes with the OS filler cap, with reservoir attached to PS pump. Either use the separate pump-reservoir or a filter cover with the outlet to the rear.
  5. X2. I only worry when the clunks stop, that usually means whatever was loose has fallen off So if it's still goin', what's the problem.? Less weight=faster response.
  6. I never worried about the clunks. Just the clanks.
  7. :agree: Totally. I always used Ford or Buick engines when doing a swap just because of distributer location, and weight.
  8. Looking back I can't find where I sent any dimensions. Sorry. Still need them?

    Bed Swaps

[quote Is it me or does that wheel well look a little to far forward I'm thinking that. Also think the bumper needs some attention. Otherwise looks good.

    Bed Swaps

Don't have any Ford Rangers. Do have a Chevy Luv and a Mazda. We'll see. This could get interesting. Anybody want to drop by and help?

    Bed Swaps

While reading the post from Boosst, in the tech section on beds, it occurred to me that I have a '89 MJ, a '91 S10 and a '86 Dakota sitting almost side by side with their beds off and lying on the ground. Thought about trying the S10 and Dakota bed on the MJ and see if it would be practical. Tried search to see if it had been tried before but no results. Anyone know if it's been tried already? Would there be any interest in the results if I tried? Would any one even care? Curious minds want to know. :wrench:
  12. If you don't want it say so. I'll come get it. 700 miles round trip. $300. OK. To answer your other questions. Get a complete XJ, Rear end body damage only, power train OK. It's cheaper and you got everything you need. No continous running to the JY for something. Good beds are getting harder to find. I would build a flat bed.
  13. 60 gal, 5-7CFM at 90PSI will cover 90% of most needs. Adequate for the home workshop, garage. 60Gal minimum, 90 gal better, 10-12 CFM at 140 PSI best. Get a 220 VAC.
  14. Tried again and it took it. Actually I have one in 1 and 3, 2 in 2 and 3 in 4. Didn't have a category for 'just parked in the yard.'
  15. Good write up. Lots of useful info. Good job. I've thought about doing something like this but I have found it's easier for me to think about something than it is to actually do it. Why I have the utmost respect for someone that does. ElJimbo

    Radar guns

Never got no ticket. But the exit from the interstate where I get off is a favorite spottting place for the state police here. If they're parked on the East side you can see them outlined on the horizon. If they're parked on the West side they blend in and you can't see them. Anyway, was just wondering.

    Sold a MJ

Sold one of my babys, er, MJ'S this morn. Was coming out of town and doing my regular 80 when I spotted a Wrangler poking along at 75. Kicking it up to 85 I passed it. Pulled off at my exit and he followed, honking his horn and waving so I got out to see what he wanted. Seems he couldn't believe a Jeep P/U could pass him like that and he wanted a better look at it. Refused to believe it had a 2.5 4 cylinder until I popped the hood. We BS for a couple minutes and I invited him over to see the collection. He was impressed. He struck me as a OK guy, and the lady with him was a looker. When he asked if one was for sale I started to say no but didn't. Asked which one he was interested in. Walked around looking at them and he was interested in a '87 Sport. Had a 4.0 from a 95 XJ and a AX15 from a 90 XJ I had dropped in it. Figured out what i had tied up in it and added a $100 for my time. He gave me $500 cash and wrote a check for the rest. He's from New Mexico and going to be back next Sunday to get it. Gave him info on CC and expect we'll be getting a new member soon.

    Radar guns

Anybody know what the range is of the radar guns used by the fuzz? I think it's a mile but not sure.
  19. :agree: Feel the hoses going to the heater and make sure you got hot water flowing to the core but but from the symptoms you describe I think it's the blower motor.
  20. Jeeper. Give me 3 packs of condoms. Clerk, Yes sir. Would you like a paper bag? Jeeper. Naw, She ain't that ugly.
  21. Well,,,,if she had been tied on properly she wouldn't have fell off. Regardless of tack used. :???:
  22. In 1957 I got a Beagle from a breeder in Old Town, Maine. He went from Me, to Spain, to Washington, to S. Carolina to Oregon, to Hawaii to New Mexico with me. He was the most stubborn, contrary and loveable dog I ever shared my life with. Really cried when I buried him. 17 years old, old age got him. Certainly hope he makes it OK. A hug, scratching the ears and petting does more for a dog, any animal, than any vet or medicine can do.
  23. I love buying these kinds of Jeeps. Especially if the owner is reasonable. Offer him a couple bucks more than scrap price. If he sells it to some one else then it's their problem. Usually, but not always, there is nothing wrong with the parts. They were just assembled wrong. It once took me seven months from the time I made the offer until I got the Jeep. He finally realized all he had was a Junk Jeep. Not the treasure chest he thought he had. A little help from the city citing him for a inoperable vehicle on his premises helped. I wonder how the city found out about it? Solid frame and doors is certainly worth something.
