You're correct of course. Read, studied, Manchekid86's link thoroughly. I thought it was well written and very informative. Also several other write ups in a couple other Jeep forums, dealing with Cherokee swaps but applicable to MJ'S. I finished reading a write up on the Buick, Caddy 3.6 and my mind jumped the track. Still willing to swap a Jeep 2.5, 2.8, 4.0 5.2 or 5.7 for a 3.4. :wrench: :D

That would be a " Remuda " addition I believe  Around here, another 'member of the household' would more aptly apply. :shake: :rotf:

I'm getting ready to pull the busted 2.8 from my '86 MJ. I have a 2.8 from a '91 S10 I was going to drop in but got to thinking and that's bad. I should never think. Makes life harder for me when I do. Anyhooo I got to thinking a 3.2 or even a 3.6, from a 2003 Buick or Cadillac might be better. I have almost no experience with later model FWD machinery. Can a FWD be installed in a RWD reasonably easy or not? I would like to find a complete donor and keep the later FI with all the wiring harness, computer etc,.etc. If that doesn't happen then I will swap the FI for the earlier carb set up. Any help or thoughts appreciated. This should be posted in the classified but since I have your attention, I will post it here. Wanted to trade, One of my XJ,ZJ, WJ or, shudder, MJ for a donor with what I'm looking for. At least be within a days drive of me. :dunno: :wrench:

I looked at a couple 2wd XJ and MJ. They all had the or/bk wire and socket.

You have $3000 in a 2.8l? :hmm: Why not? Nobody will ever think of looking for it there.

Fooled me. I could have sworn it was taken in Lower Florida, in July.

Comanche Clubbers, Meet Sherri, 3 yr old Arabian mare. Gets 100-150 miles to a bale of hay, depending on graze. Set of 4 shoes, $65, $10 if I do them myself, Changes fjuids by herself. No need to remove any plugs on my part. This has got to be the sweetest, most lovable horse I have ever seen. Started to say "no" to the seller but then she nuzzled me and rolled them big dark eyes at me and no way was I leaving there without her. Just what I needed. Another mouth to feed. Dern Grand kids don't like her I'll wring their ungrateful necks. They're who I got her for. Really. :hmm:

The guys were all at a deer camp. No one wanted to room with Bob, because he snored so badly. They decided it wasn't fair to make one of them stay with him the whole time, so they voted to take turns. The first guy slept with Bob and comes to breakfast the next morning with his hair a mess and his eyes all bloodshot. They said, "Man, what happened to you? He said, "Bob snored so loudly, I just sat up and watched him all night." The next night it was a different guy's turn. In the morning, same thing, hair all standing up, eyes all bloodshot. They said, "Man, what happened to you? You look awful! He said, 'Man, that Bob shakes the roof with his snoring. I watched him all night." The third night was Fred KRUGER 's turn. Fred was a tanned, older cowboy, a man's man. The next morning he came to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. "Good morning!" he said. They couldn't believe it. They said, "Man, what happened?" He said, "Well, we got ready for bed. I went and tucked Bob into bed, patted him on the butt, and kissed him good night. Bob sat up and watched me all night." With age comes wisdom. :rotf:

:agree: Pretty much got that right.

Those would be nice if you had a empty MJ bod. That way you could install the axles and the proper transfer case, transmission and engine .
-
I have several of them. However since I don't know where to send them to, reckon I'll just keep 'em.

Having my morning coffee and doing the crossword puzzle this morn when the phone rang. "Snnnfffgrunt' "you the guy buys Jeeps"? 'Grunt" "Got a 1988 P/U. Interested?" "grunt,,,slurp" "Runs good. $900" "Slurffftt" Got an address and went to look at it. Offered him $300. He got p*ssed and said noway. I pointed out the leaking transmission fluid, coolant from radiator and oil puddle under the engine. Then I pointed out the two big rust holes in the floorboards. Only rust on the whole truck. He said 5? I said noway and got in the truck to leave. He hollars wait a minute. We Talk. $350 and the title changes hands. I drove it the 30 miles home. Ran great. Gonna make a good donor for a couple of my other MJ'S. 4.0, AW4, 4WD

Built Up A Powerwheels Jeep!

Ya gonna lift it? -
* happens. If you can find a metal coat hanger straighten it out and put a small hook on one end. Works pretty good at fishing loose wires out of dark holes. :wrench:

Needs the wood grain down the sides. And the two vents.

Any rust free MJ is worth a little trouble to keep on the road. There's way to many rust buckets out there to make mud boggers out of to go usimg a rust free one. Find a rust bucket with title, or even a wrecked one, and start switching parts. The dash, with VIN tag attached would be a good place to start. :wrench:

I feel that someone has done this before. I tried search and browsed 'Projects' and couldn't find anything. If anybody has a link........................

Exactly what I have in mind for this one. One of the reasons I jumped on it without a title. Not be tempted to restore it. Not working to well because I am seriously thinking about it. Aw nuts. I hate changing my mind and making decisions. At the moment trying to make up my mind which MJ to use. Also wondering how it would look if I was just swap the front end including the doors and quit. Frankly I think it would look 'unfinished'. Have to run the wood panel all the way to the back and around the tailgate to look right. I need somebody good at PhotoShop to knock out a couple pics, Inlay stopping at door. Inlay going all the way back and short and long bed. I have always liked the looks of the Waggoneers, those quad headlights, and the grill turned me on. Today I got one, 1988 Waggoneer, 4.0 engine, AW4 trans, 4WD, 117K on the clock, NO TITLE. Fella wanted $800. I offered to get it out of his yard for free. A half an hour later I got it for $400. My original plan was to swap the front panel and sell what i could. After looking at it, all those goodies, power windows, power seats, power mirrors, AC, toilet in the back seat that flushed automatically after use, and especially two front vent windows that open and close. After getting it home I played with it and got it started. Drove it around the pasture. Ran great. Everything works except the 2 rear windows. Shouldn't be that much harder to swap the wiring harness and go whole hog. Swap everything, plus get that deep red interior. WHAT AM I DOING? I don't need another project. Give somebody $5 if they come swap the front panel for me. The tires alone are worth $400. 10:50 15's, spare never been on the ground. End of sway bar rubbing againest spring on both sides. nice interior Sex on the hoof HARRUMPH>>>Mis spelled 'Wagoneer'.

aw4 swap, pending deal: VERY IMPORTANT!
jimoshel replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The factory manual only lists the 42RE, 42RH and 46RH for 1993ZJ. It may be possible a PO swapped in a AW4.Or maybe he has a XJ and doesn't know the difference. Make sure you know what a AW4 looks like and go look at it.
