Any suggestions on reupholstering the factory bench seats? I found a place that makes OE-style covers for a reasonable price, but the foam has 30 years and 220,000k on it. What have people here done? And no, there are no yards with MJs left around here to pull one from.

comanche leak/missing cover?
RustyRodder replied to waffleman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
\Yup, mine needs it done. We're just pulling the engine to do all that. might dingleball the cylinders, do the rings and lifters while in there. -

Cruiser's Mostly Renix Tips
RustyRodder replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Not sure if you ever got this, but- distributor. my old honda had this issue, the dizzy was collecting moisture and would prevent it from starting until it dried out. check the cap, gasket, etc. -

What Minuit knows about stock Jeep radios
RustyRodder replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Sorry, its what Ive always heard the 90s things referred to by- since the buttons are rounded off, bubbled out/in to denote up/down. That style came into play in the late-80s, raged through the 90s before being replaced by molded buttons/touchscreen in the 2000s. But then, that might just be from my eccentric unlces. -
Well dang, worth a shot. Guess I'll be watching Fleabay and whatnot.

Well that is different- certainly looks mid-90s with the bubble buttons -

The finding of an OEM one is the trouble. Up here most of the XJ's are long rusted and scrapped. I did find this on Ebay, looks like it could be fanagled on.

Evening guys, My OEM antenna is a bit...lacking with the new paint. Was considering swapping to a power antenna (want to stay OEM appearing, rather than a windshield mount). What does it take to do? I see [supposed] kits on Ebay for 40 bucks. Figured to wire an up/down switch like my old T-bird. What does it take? I am sure somebody here knows!

Gauge cluster not working
RustyRodder replied to RustyRodder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmmm, my friends taking a look. Otherwise, theres now a full cluster from a '90 cherokee on the way (although it has 60k more miles) -
Gauge cluster not working
RustyRodder replied to RustyRodder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are the fuses any different from idiot light to normal gauges? -
Bought a 3/4 cluster to replace the idiot lights on my 88 (auto, so no tach is fine. Although a cheap one popped up last night...). Anyway- installed the oil and temp senders. when the cluster was installed, it doesnt work. Speedo was dead (most likely a seating issue with the cable), volt/oil/temp were dead and gas went all the way to the right. If memory serves, that means grounding issue? reinstalled the old cluster- gas gauge works fine with that though. and oil light glows, but Id guess thats from having the different sending unit.
