Cool info. I see your featured Haha. I'm guessing the switch was to make it more uniformed and symmetrical. But curious what the 91+ empty light sockets are for... and was their any use to the old style square? -

I could be wrong, but I think they just hang lower under the bumper compared to the factory bumpers- 197 replies

false. getting to use the stock leaf packs results in a smoother ride and better off road performance. the flatter the leaf pack arch, they better. there is a drawback though, and that is a greater chance for axle wrap. when i was still on leaf springs, i had to fab a traction bar because my axle wrap was so bad. eh... still seems like no solid benefit to it other then ground clearance and lift ability, what you explained as an improvement is more of it just gives the ability to keep using factory parts, that themselves have a better ride vs aftermarket. but not that the SOA itself has a benefit in ride or drivability, but just that factory springs are a better ride (usually). and it gives the added disadvantage of axle wrap.

there was a factory mini console available
-
Ah OK. So there's no true(performance) benefit or gain? It just allows a higher lift ability.
-
semi off topic... but what is the benefit of spring over anyways? other then ground clearance?

I'm excited to see this bumper! -
Ah. OK. Good to know thanks guys! Its COOOOOOLD up here. So I'll leave it still (been there months anyways). But I have a cluster bulb that's loose and flickering. So when I fix that I'll pull the bulb for the GEN

so i guess in 1996 with the OBD2 the GEN light just meant there was a issue with the charging system. why they used GEN instead of a battery symbol or ALT, who knows.
-
hmmm guess it must be a replacement cluster then (obviously if 96 was the only year for GEN) my guess now is its just lit GEN thinking its MAINT REQD. other then pulling bulb, is there any way to clear the light? not that pulling is a big deal just curious. makes me wonder how many miles are truely on this truck..... the custer says ~214K

uh... go fish? its tight enough that everything works, but i do have the typical semi-constant belt squeak. my 95% sure my tensioner is stripped as it won't tighten (move) any more but it not maxed out either
-
...mines shows GEN ill take a pic when I get home. I have full gauges and it stays right at 14V
-
why even bother going SOA if you don't want it bigger then it already is? seems like wasted cost to me,,,,
-
1991 mj 4.0ho its on the left with all the other lights, I believe its right ontop of the check engine light
-
Yup the Napiers. IMO their better then bushwacker

Curious on why my GEN light has been on.... battery is good. And alternator charges just fine. Voltage is at roughly 14.5 like it should. What controls the light?
