  1. So i'm swapping in my 8.8 & installing a lift at the same time. I want to keep it spring under & get about 3" out of it. I know that the tubes are larger diameter which will drop me about 1/2'' from the D35, then the new spring plates are about 1/2'' taller then the factory ones for a 1" loss before i even get started. Hell Creek offers 3" & 4.5" rear lift springs, so at this point i'm thinking the 4.5" may be my best option. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Here are some pics for everyone's enjoyment:
  2. That if you mow you may find a tribe of people that have never seen the outside world, or at least another vehicle... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
  3. This is what i used: http://www.knowwhere2jeep.com/catalog/p ... s_id=11443 Complete kit to install, i ordered mine without the diff cover since it is not a girdle cover...
  4. I had bought mine from JCR as well, but if i had seen this first i might have tried my hand at making my own. Definitely my favorite. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22911
  5. Try Duncan Lake, it's a smallish lake way up in the hills. I went there years ago & the only way to get to it required a pretty heavy duty 4wd. We used our Power Wagon & it had a 3'' lift & 33" tires & had little difficulty getting there. Probably the most beautiful place I've ever been, Hopefully it's not all turisty now...
  6. Be careful not to overfill it as this can cause foaming & blown seals... I run my '08 Accent 1/2 quart LOW & so far this has worked well.
  7. I'm setting up my 8.8 to install in the MJ & wanted to see where everyone else is installing their shock mounts. I know that not very many on here have done the 8.8 swap & it doesn't have to be the same axle type, i would just like to get an idea of what has worked for others... '91 SWB AX15 4WD 3" lift Pics please!!
  8. Okay, how about Ford 8.8 behind an AX15 4WD? 3" lift...
  9. Anyone had experience with these guys? I was looking at this 3" lift for my truck & wanted to see if their products are a good value... http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12_57&products_id=207
  10. The scene from The Great Escape when Steve Mcqueen jumped the barb wire fence is pretty spectacular. Then there's any number of chases from The Road Warrior...
  11. Don't forget Dallas, it's only about five hours away, & i regularly see them on CL...
  12. I have the opposite story, i was NOT looking for a dog, but a friend said their was one being given away because the owner didn't have time for him. I said no, but later came back & asked what kind of dog & low & behold: German Shepard!! Full blood AKC registered & has even been to obedience (although he's a little out of practice). We've had him about a week now & he is great, minds well & is very gentle with the little ones. BTW The puppy that's about to attack is not mine, we were at the local doggie park.
  13. $7.00 here & i"ll even wash them...
  14. May be a better fit in the J truck i the background, but still an awesome idea regardless.
  15. :ack:
  16. :agree: Hitch plug behind the license plate....Sweet.
  17. That thing looks great! My only suggestion would be to add a plate on the back side for a cleaner look.
  18. This was hard to choose from all the stupid badmouthing comments to reply to, I choose not to, but I guess this is the one that best exemplifies our MJs. MJ's are are a versatile well rounded rig and can be built to suit just about anything you want; off-roading, street, drag, road racing; the only limitation is your imagination and pocketbook. Your comment "It's a truck & not just any truck, but a truck that is supposed to be made by Jeep. It's supposed to be rugged tough & powerful" is correct. And it was originally made by AMC then imprved by Mopar. But for all these applications, to be successful, correct mods have to be made. In it's day, the MJ was the most powerful p/u made in it's class, but it's dogmeat now. A gas eating underpowered rust prone cow as compared to modern trucks. I'd love to see a basic economical V8 Jeep marque resurrection p/u come to market that can be modified to be competitive for any of the above applications. If an SRT8 "Comanche" was ever marketed, I'd buy it in a minute, then build it to my tastes. Agreed. :D Although this truck looks as if it would be pretty pricey....
  19. The clutch inside the clutch fan. Mine is doing the same thing. It's more of a howl though, & it goes away when the engine is revved or after about 15mins to warm up.
  20. :agree: More lift smaller wheels, NO CHROME! It's a truck & not just any truck, but a truck that is supposed to be made by Jeep. It's supposed to be rugged tough & powerful.
  21. If you are half descent at fab work i think this could be a very cool look, plus you could have a trailer that matches the truck! :D Thanks for posting this up, i'm definitely going to look into doing this on mine, especially since my bed is beat to crap & i'm not very good with body work...

  23. Pilot complains tail rotor is vibrating in the pedals, mechanic goes to the back of the aircraft makes some noises with his tools (doesn't actually do anything). Then he tells the pilot to start it up, pilot claims he fixed & there are no more vibes..... I actually witnessed this on helicopter i that worked the engine on.
  24. JCR, A temporary halt in production of these bumpers may be a good idea until you find a more permanent solution, but that alone in NO WAY releases you from the liability of the product you produce. Your web site does not say that the bumper is untested & the use of which is at the discretion of the user & you accept no liability therein. This is a very scary situation for any company to be in & your best bet right now is to try to please your customers in a bad situation. My suggestion: A letter sent IMMEDIATELY to all of your customers who purchased one of these stating that the hitch feature in the bumper is not approved for street use & that JCR takes no liability for that installation. Options to fix the problem, obviously you don't want to do the load testing, which is understandable, but something must be done to show that you at least made an attempt to fix the problem. Offer to allow the customers to send their units back at no charge for a full refund. Offer to send a fix (sleeve to weld in to fix the gap) with the caveat that the repair does not constitute serviceability of the unit for road use & JCR takes no liability. There may be better options for this situation, but doing nothing is the worst thing you can do. Keep in mind, many of the people on CC are members of other forums & have more than just MJ's, angering the few can turn into a MUCH bigger problem for your company. All of that being said, i have no intention of returning mine because i like the look & the strength of it, but if nothing is done to fix this then i will not be buying anything for my other Jeeps, current or future.
  25. Sorry that happened to you, i would say get your money back, cut your losses & walk away. Unless you want all the heartache of suing, legal fees, lawyers.... Some battles aren't worth fighting, even if you're right, even for the principle of it. :USAflag:
