  1. That definitely sounds easier, I'll be honest, i haven't even thought about it yet, just too excited to have the newer look. ;) Yeah, it's a good look for these trucks...
  2. Well, made it to the junk yard today, originally just to get a rim & a few plastic bits; however the CFC 98 XJ was begging to be robbed of parts, so i did the 97+ upgrade. What do ya think? It was fairly easy to do (thanks to some enthusiastic help from the sister-in-law), but i haven't dived into wiring the lights yet. I not worried though just got too tired to keep going. Next weekend it will be time to rob the interior....
  3. I was only getting 10hwy & 8 city in my XJ with 31's on it, so don't feel lonely. :brows:
  4. No, i don't have them anymore, they went when i sold the truck. When i got those rims i had originally ordered some steel wagon wheels, but these came instead, so i certainly didn't complain since all i had to pay for was the wagon wheels. After a little research i've seen prices for these from $180 to $200 each. Not sure if i would want to drop that kind of cash on some rims that are going to get trashed from the trail or stolen. :redX:
  5. I'll take 'em, i'll send you a PM with my contact information & we can figure out how to meet up  Check out the Old Drippy project write up, i have a pic of the XJ with the teflon rims.
  6. It looks like the sensor rubbed on the phonic wheel. Is this the case? If so, you may want to pull you're transmission & inspect it for damage. I've had some experience with this on helicopter engines, it always caused problems... BTW, I grew up in Macks Creek ;)
  7. How much do you want for the American Racing rims? BTW, I had the teflon rims on my XJ, they look great but scratch easily. Not really worth the cost in my opinion. :shake:
  8. When i cleaned all my terminals I looked at my battery, aside from being 3 years old it is only 430 cold cranking amps. I was wondering if that could have something to do with it...
  9. Yeah, the guy i bought it from said he'd had it for a year. I don't think did any maintenance to it at all, but drove it every day, he looked confused when i asked to see under the hood. I can't complain too much though, i got it for $600 dollars... :clapping: Anyone have one of these rims laying around? I want to have a matching set before I replace the tires... I'm in Vegas until November, then its off to Dallas.
  10. No, i traded it for a Hyundai Accent in '08 :ack: . Now I'm regretting it. Hopefully the MJ will make it all better, it will be more useful anyway. i can actually fit more in the back of my 3 door ricer than i could in that...
  11. Here's the XJ if anyone is interested...
  12. I haven't driven this one much yet, as i am trying to get it running & looking better; however i did the same thing on an XJ that i had. There were no squeaks, but i used a lot of grease. Also, it rode very ROUGH, they basically have no give. The bushings on this MJ in the front were completely worn out to the point that it was metal on metal, causing the springs to bow & rub on the frame & be generally dangerous to drive...
  13. Okay, I've done some more troubleshooting on this with no results as of yet... 1.) Replaced fuel filter. Also i cut it open, it was surprisingly clean inside. 2.) Tested fuel system pressure. Falls into spec with the ever trustworthy Chilton manual. 3.) Replaced manifold air temp sensor. 4.) Cleaned as many terminals as i could find. At this point I'm kind of at a loss. What sensors affect starting on the OBD1 models?
  14. Okay, bought this one a few months ago. It's a '91, 2WD, 4.0, 5 speed AX15, D35, 156k miles. Complete with too-large lunchbox topper. ;) Someone decided to screw the license plate to the otherwise perfect tailgate. :fs1: Needs a new front fender, but i got the dent pushed out for now. So far I've replaced all of the suspension bushings with new energy suspension bushings, shocks, engine tune-up. More pics to come sooon... :waving:
  15. Image Not Found/img]
  16. I replaced the coolant temp sensor on mine, but the issue persists; however i think i will be inspecting my electrical connectors.
  17. Mine is doing this same thing. I've changed all the easily accessible components (plugs, wires, cap & rotor, O2 sensor), but it is either a very long crank or two tries. It also runs rough for the first few seconds. It is a 91 4.0 as well  ...
  18. Mine is going out as well; however its making more of a howling noise. How is it running? Could be timing chain slop...
  19. Already replaced O2 sensor, no change. I think i have narrowed it down to the manifold air temp sensor, but we will see. I'm also going to change the fuel filter while I'm at it...
  20. My Comanche starts & runs a little rough cold, but once it is warm it runs great. It usually takes two attempts to get this thing going, after that it does not die, but can hiccup & backfire until it is warm. :help: Here is the info on what i have done so far: -1991 -4.0 OBD1 -5 speed -2WD -160k miles Parts replaced: -spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor -Coolant temperature sensor -Cleaned A/F (K&N) -Cleaned throttle body I'm happy to have found this great site & plan on doing my own project write-up soon.....
