I'm doing the WJ Lower control arm swap on my Comanche & I'm having trouble finding Poly bushings for them. I checked on Daystar & Energy, but didn't see what i was looking for... Anyone? :help:

1987 Jeep Comanche 2wd to 4wd
Dave Stark replied to ComancheMan7893's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm in the middle of doing one right now, you're going to be spending some money. I wouldn't commit to doing this if your truck is your daily driver, especially if most of it is going to be done by you. -
It's been a while since my move back from Vegas & i think it's time for an update. I got my axles in for the 4X4 swap & D35 to 8.8 upgrade: Extra 31spline shafts!! WJ LCA'S Also, i got in my rear bumper & rock sliders from JCR, they are beefy as can be & look great. I can't wait to get them installed. That's it for now...

:hijack: I'm doing the exact swap on mine, I was wondering where you got the yoke adapter, it is the 1310 right? Also, did you use the explorer perches or did you go with the aftermarket Mopar style perches designed to fit the 8.8?

Anyone looking for bed-side Patch Panels?
Dave Stark replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
What about a set of bedsides for the 6'? I've been dreading doing the body work for a while & would definitely buy a set of panels rather than go through that headache. -
I tried to stain my maroon sun visors black, it did not work well at all.

:agree: I just got an 8.8 for $150. Limited slip & 410's... I just thought if anyone wanted to go the more stock direction i'd be willing to help... I'll bet he'd go lower if you want me to give him a call. -

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pts/1619680252.html Lowered to $350, or guy stuff... -
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pts/1607439908.html $450.00 Seems a bit high, but it is a direct swap after all...

:needpics: Sorry, but WE ALL WANT TO SEE IT!!! ~Dave

The 4.10L is is what i ordered which is the limited slip version IIRC, but i'll find out quickly enough when I see it. Thanks for the input guys. Geonovast somehow i knew you would post on this one... ~Dave

Also, the 8.8 is coming from a 97 Explorer & the D30 is from a 96 Cherokee.

So i have a friend thats big in the drag racing world out here & he turned me onto a used parts supplier so i could order my Ford 8.8 & a Dana 30 (4wd conversion) for Old Drippy. I had requested 4.10L on the 8.8 which he found easily & he said he also found a Dana 30 with 4.10's as well. My question is: Did Jeep offer the D30's with 4.10 gearing or is this some kind of mistake? I'm thinking it was in the 4 cylinder trucks but not sure. BTW, I won't get to see them until Wednesday & i don't have to pay for them if it's not what I'm looking for... Thanks for the input. ~Dave

I agree that what i want to do is overbuilding the axle, & that in most cases you could simply bolt the thing in & go, but i don't want to have to worry about this thing again. My truck currently has the D35, 2wd, 235 75 R15's, this thing has 150K miles on it & when i jack the truck up i can grab the wheels & i have between 1/4" & 1/2" of in & out play on both sides. This thing has been run through it's paces, but nothing that should cause it to have that kind of play. Plus, i want to do a stroker & really don't want to worry about it then...

Thanks for the tip, were the 31's on the V8 explorers, or on both? Not sure, but from the research i've done it looks as if all of them had the 31 spline. Be sure to take it from the explorer though, the Ranger came with a 28 spline, which is still strong, just not so much as the D44.
-
The 31 spline Ford 8.8 is the axle of choice, it is actually stronger than the D44 & you can get all the aftermarket mods your willing to pay for. As soon as i get the chance i'm going to the JY & getting one for mine & doing the C clip eliminator 4.10 gears, locker, & a bearing support cover. It should be pretty much indestructible after that... BTW, You can find them on '95 to 2000 Ford Explorers.
-
Absolutely not, that thing is two different shades & looks like the front end got hit, probably the reason for the home made bumper...
-
Go with the 8 hole, i had a set of american racing Teflon coated on my XJ, they were gorgeous.  But prone to scratches...
-
What are you looking for? DD, project, somewhere in between? There was a '87 going for $400 a while back. Mine's more of a project due to the excruciatingly long list of fixes yet to be done...

Rear Suspension/Bed "Thunk"
Dave Stark replied to comanche09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What about the rubber bushings that go in the eyes of the springs, those things tend to wear in one direction & could be hidden by the frame mount. When i did urethane bushings on mine i wasn't quite able to complete the job before i had to move the truck out of my shop & needless to say it made a very pronounced dull thump just driving it around the parking lot. -
Those look good . Do they have a SWB version ? That's what mine is, they offer them for both...
