Jeep makes "popping" noise under load
Dave Stark replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We're going to need a bit more info: Year, Engine, Transmission, 2 or 4wd. Did you do any recent work to it? Anything that may be pertinent. :wavey: -
Changing a headliner (lots of pictures)

I used Super77 on mine & it didn't even hold for a week, but that was in Vegas during the summer... 8) -
There's a guy in Dallas trying to sell his engine out of like a '97 wrangler for $1000. :redX:

You could do like the old Subaru's & put it under the hood with the engine:

Another rediculous Craigslist ad, with question!
Dave Stark replied to Dave Stark's topic in The Pub
Yeah, i think i am going to go look at it. I've got some new information after talking to another person who also wants to buy it. We'll see. :D -
I think i'll look at the truck & i'll make sure to bring a multimeter with me...

I've been doing more digging on an '86 MJ with the 2.5. The original CL ad stated that it needs a timing chain & after talking with another person also trying figure out WTF on this thing i found out it has a new(ish) engine. Did these things have a CPS? I know it could be a great many things, but i would like to hear some of the more common issues that would cause a crank but no start situation. I don't know if it is getting spark, or fuel for that matter. They have changed from $1200 down to $800 & maybe lower if i try... I'm considering just buying the thing & testing my luck, but i've already got one semi dead MJ in the drive the wife would kill me if there were two. :help:

Another rediculous Craigslist ad, with question!

So i called on the ad, here's how the conversation goes: Her: Hello? Me: Hi, my name is Dave & i was calling about your Craigslist ad for the Jeep truck. Her: My what? Me: :huh???: Your Jeep truck? Her: Oh the Jeep, it's a good truck. Me: Great, do you know what engine it has? Her: It's a five speed. Me:  Okay, but do you know what engine it has. Long pause. Her: I think it has the standard one they came with back then. Me: Does it run? Her: (Very confused) Well, no. The battery for it is in the trunk of my car. Me: Could i come look at it? Long pause. Her: You can come look at it. Me: When are you available? Long pause. Her: I'm available anytime. Me: Could i come today? Long pause. Her: Okay. Me: Where is the truck located? Her: It's not at my house, do you know where the Ace Hardware is off Vine? Me: No. Her: Well, you can meet me at my house, & i'll take you over there. Me: Okay, I'll have to get with you on this one. :dunce: I think i 'm going to pass. -
You could do a Missouri farter on it. You know the big megaphone tips the red necks put on their 1980's Chevy pickups. :rotf: I'm from Missouri BTW & fit into the red neck category quite well.

Another rediculous Craigslist ad, with question!

 ?? I thought it was a little ridiculous because of the name change from "Comanche" to "Commando" but maybe it's just me... I it doesn't have the GM i may go for it. -
I found this beauty on CL the other day & it could easily make tops in the ridiculous CL ad thread. My questions are: This can have either the GM V6 or the 4Cyl right? Also, they say it has a 5 speed transmission AX5 or Ba10-5, or could it be either? Mine is a '91 so i never really got all that into the older configurations...

What are folks opinions of the 2009-10 Cadillac CTS
Dave Stark replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in The Pub
Why not Subaru? The B9 & it's little brother the Forester are pretty luxurious. I just bought my wife an '09 Legacy after she finally got tired of her '03 Forester. They're built to last as well as for those who are lacking in the ability to drive department... :D ~Dave -
JCR also makes one. http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=XJLGHTRK&Category_Code=DPL

Here's mine, it was too wide & too long. Now it's in a dump in Vegas. -
:agree: I had black ones on the XJ & they looked great.

Anyone looking for bed-side Patch Panels?
Dave Stark replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
:agree: That's definitely not what i was expecting to see. Mine has huge dents in the curve below the tail lights & i was hoping this could be a good replacement for that instead of fighting with the body work... -
Where are you at? i just went to the Jeep yard in Dallas & they have three Comanche's. I'm sure at least one of the trucks has to have its plugs in tact...
-
I'm still at the point where i'm trying to decide where to start, & how far i want to take this project so it may be some time before i actually get them installed, but we'll just have to see. :wrench:

I'm a bit worried about how using the factory rubber bushings on the LCA's with poly bushings on the rest of the truck will make it handle.
-
That's actually what i thought at first but he said it was definitely not that. I don't know, next time i go back i'll see if he can get me a pic...
-
I have poly bushings on the rest of the truck...

I was at the JY yesterday & i was talking to one of the guys that works there, he told me that one of their regular customers drives a FACTORY step side Comanche. Supposedly they only made 50 or so according to him, but for some reason i think he may be getting the Comanche & the J trucks confused... I did a Google search to no avail, anyone heard of this?
