  1. An 8.8 is 31 spline a D44 is 30 spline so a 8.8 shaft is only slightly bigger then a D44. The 8.8 is also C clip and runs much weaker axle bearings then a D44. A D44 can also be modded to 35 spline. A wagoneer uses a LP D44 which IMO would be a bad axle for 40" tires. that combo would be great on 35s but not 40s unless your building a mall crawler.
  2. I wouldn't run 40" tires with a 8.8 rear, maybe a D44 if I had the money to go 35 spline but really you need something bigger. I would do a d60 or 14 bolt rear and for the front at the least a retubed D44 from a full size Ford truck or Bronco.

    finally got mine!

Nice find,I've got a 17' Grumman too. Its a great canoe.
  4. My seats aren't colorful, they are just gray. The center seat would normally be level with the buckets but I offset mine to get the buckets a little lower. The Dakota seats also have built in retractable adjustable cup holders and adjustable lumbar supports.
  5. My MJ had some crappy chevy car seats screwed to wood blocks in it when I got it so I don't know how they compare to stock but I think the hieght is similair to my XJs factory buckets. I'm 6'0" and they feel alright to me. Prices vary depending where you get them,I scored mine for free.
  6. IMO the Dakota seats fit better, since the center console isn't part of the seats you can set the seats lower.

    calculator

I have it,it does come in handy from time to time.
  8. Sounds like fun, wish I could make it.
  9. The front definently has alot more flex then the rear. The rear is about maxxed for up travel but I think I can get a little more down travel out of it.
  10. Unless your staying with stock tires and only drive on pavement your gonna want to add power steering. Its only about $50 to add it.
  11. Same here Have you flexed it on a ramp or with a forklift to see what is limiting it? If you don't have acess to either you can bring it to my shop and flex it with the forklift.
  12. You should be fine but this is why its worth the few extra bucks for adjustable arms, then you don't have to worry if you change your suspension around.
  13. Have you tried a sprint airave? if you are in a dead spot they should give you one for free. Were I live no provider works,I called sprint and they sent me an airave now I get great service.
  14. So here's the plan. We should be ready to go around 9AM on Sat so the people with projects can get an early start. We will figure out the BBQ time based on how everything is going rather then a set time. Depending how many are here and how many are staying late/overnight we may BBQ a couple times. I'm planning to pick up a bunch of burgers and hot dogs but everyone is welcome to bring stuff to pitch in if they want to. After dark we will light a bonfire and everyone can hang out, there's not much for seating so I would suggest bringing some folding chairs. Anyone who wants to is welcome to camp and the shop will be available Sunday to finish up projects if needed. The address is 325 Quietwood Dr. Kalama,Wa 98625
  15. I would also look for a non CAD axle preferably one with the larger u joints.
  16. You might call warrior products, they are a NW company and they make tube doors for the MJ/XJ so they might know about the laws. Washington is bad about mud flaps and flairs but haven't heared anything about doors.
  17. That would be cool,we have plenty of room for your trailer.
  18. They are asking a lot for it way too much IMO. They also don't say what lift, what axles,or if its been regeared for those 35s
  19. Its weird that they put those on then use the crappy bar pins,IMO a bar pin eliminator would be better then those. Here's some I made.
  20. It just has a set of axles from a mid to late 70s Ford Bronco or 1/2 ton F series pick up. It even looks to be running the Ford radius arms.
  21. You could also do a bar pin eliminator up front to get a little extra out of the shocks. You can buy them or they are very easy to make.
  22. Your gonna be a busy guy. If this M&G goes well I'm sure we will have more so maybe you can make it next time.
  23. We will be hosting a meet and greet at the shop in Kalama, right now its looking like June 9th. We have plenty of room for camping for anyone who wants to stay the night. The shop will be open for people to use the lift for small projects and the forklift will be out for suspension testing and tuning. We are planning a BBQ then later a bonfire. Anyone interested?

    budget woes

You sure the clutch is engaging/disengaging properly. Mine was doing that and it ended up being the clutch master cyl.

    budget woes

Its the same transmission you already have. Is something wrong with yours? IMO its not a killer deal anyway,AX5s are cheap
