  1. Ok, I'd like to see more pictures of this machine!!! http://nmi.craigslist.org/bar/2290828793.html
  2. Love it, just wish I had the time to do the same. Great Job and I love the seat covers.
  3. That idea of a nice bench is great. I can't count the times I wanted to research something on the net while out in the garage. I have really gotten used to using laptops though. I think the PC is going away in my eyes. But if they are cheap or free and just used for the internet why not. I like your bench thanks for the pics.
  4. Like this one??
  5. Ok, things I've noticed: They use the old style pre-'97 HVAC controlls They use much better interior materials akin to the Grand Cherokee here The tail lights rock, look like a Durangos The front end is classy, should have been how the Comander would have been but it was too big and expensive They use a DIN radio opening, America take note, this IS the world standard size!!! Not that stupid DIN and a half so nothing fits just right. Mirrors are better and fold. The wheel choices are nice They use the OLD style rear hatch, hinges, and tail light assemblies The front axle spring perches look different, so is there a Dana 44 there?? The front end bumper transition to the fender flares look a TON better than the post '97 versions. And that's probably not all, just some. Ok, loose the 2.5 and what about the 2.4??
  6. It's been about a year since I installed Chrome. I haven't been back since, I thought i'd give it a chance to catch up. I don't have IE9, I have 8. It's worked for me but with all Windows software it corrupts itself it seems every two years requiring a clean slate. With proper maintenance it seems to prolong the inevitable. I'm ok with that except the last time I updated windows my computer never turned on since. :wall: Backup is absolutly necessary, good thing external hard drives are cheap!
  7. Ok, as a IE user I have tried Firefox and to me it's limitations are greater than the reward. I LOVE tabbed browsing which Firefox has also but I've stayed with the usual. I got crazy and installed Chrome for one day, the minute I found out that Google Toolbar and the associated Google Bookmarks wasn't compatable I dropped it. Come on, lets get our :grrrr: together and make sure your own add ons work with your software. When it comes to computers people do get set in their ways no matter how much you try to make their life easier, case in point my parents. I have no preference so I'll stick with IE until I find something that sways me again to change. It's been fun reading through all the posts though!!

    Synthetic oil

Me too! I have Castrol stickers on my car and love it. I was going to buy their Castrol Superbike oil in my GSX-R, but it was over $15 a quart! Not that crazy, just ran Castrol Syntec and it shifted much better and ran right up to that magic 14,500 rpm!!
  9. I agree with Aero Kroil, we use it at work and it's the best. Using acetone and transmission fluid works a little better but you don't have that nice pressurized can and straw!!! The other problem is where do you buy it? No auto parts store has it or big box store.
  10. Ok, I'll bite. I live in Midland, work in Hemlock, but Saginaw is within 15 miles of me. The problem is that I'm in the middle of working a 16 day stretch of more than 12 hours a day. I would be willing to look at it if it can work into my schedule. I would rather take the truck to my house and work on it then work outside in the cold for something I would have no use for. I don't have an old bumper to put on it, but I may be able to find one nearby. They would be easy to attain but the time is my crutch at the moment. If the seller is willing to let me "borrow it" for a couple days I could probably work something out. Now, If there was say a set of black bucket seats and a matching center console worked into the deal I would be in like Flin!! I could pay YOU for that kind of deal!! After my stretch of days is over maybe we can meet half way to trade.
  11. Ok, I took a LOT of time weeding out the bad photos so everyone can enjoy them. They are 1064,7, and 8. I deleted these photos and the other ones worked. I had to put an "IMG" code in all of them so remember to do this the next time and enjoy!! Nice pictures by the way!!!

    WTB: headliner

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Custom-M ... 0618448306 I bought one of his headliners, he uses a synthetic type of backing that is pliable so you can bend it to install it without breaking the 25 year old cardboard backing. It came in a 14x14" box 5 foot tall. It was rolled up to fit into the box. After laying it on my table with a suitcase on it, it really holds it's shape well. The holes for the visors are already cut in it and he also includes the foam back fabric that was left over from his use in a roll.
  13. Nice job on the headliner. Mine was almost beyond repair, someone used some type of white glue spread all over the fabric to hold it up. Push pins would have been easier to cover over with new material. I chicked out and bought a new one from Ebay, costly since I already bought the fabric and the glue from 3M. :shake:
  14. I flipped a car once. The one time I did I sat on the car for over 3 months with it for sale. It was a '94 Mercury Sable, white exterior and forest green inside. It had around 100k on it and the motor I put in it had 54k on it. The blue book with that original mileage said $3300 so I ended up selling it for $1750. Here's the catch though, after the buyer took the car for a test drive and we settled on a price of $1800 he came back with the cash the same day telling me it's low on gas he'll only pay $1750. I was HOT :headpop: Who in their right mind would talk someone down another $50 bones for a used car being low on gas? :fs1: Everyone knows we only put just enough to get by in case someone steals it. And this was when gas was under $2 a gallon. I didn't have the energy to verbally fight back but I had the energy to punch him in the throat for being a prick. The good news is I bought the car for $100, put $500 into it because it had a cracked head and wanted to get $1000 profit from it, well I got it. Lesson learned.

    Vintage Parts

Call me crazy but "Jeep" isn't even listed on their manufacture selection drop down menu. :dunno: So exactly what does a Jeep Comanche land under? And before you say "AMC" nope that one isn't on there either. So Chrysler, perhaps...
  16. Ok, I have a similar situation. I have a running and driving AW-4/242 setup that I will be switching over to my Comanche. Yes I would like to have it rebuilt but for the price of a rebuild and the chance it's a bad rebuild I would rather find another to replace it when it dies. I have heard MANY stories where their rebuilt trans lasted x miles and crapped out. Usually a rebuild is around $800-$1200 and you get a 1 year warranty, not worth it. So here's the question: Other than switching the electronic to gear driven transmission speed sensor what is the span of years compatable?
  17. Drove it to work last night, got out at 7am, went to Home Depot and bought plywood insulation and plumbing supplies. I really love those tie down rings inside the bed!!
  18. I wouldn't mess with installing the bearings. Sure the block just came back from the machine shop but if you don't have a dial indicator yourself and verify the line bore you are just setting yourself up for oil pressure problems or a premature spun bearing. With that said if the shop has proof that they did line bore the cam and main bearings go ahead knock yourself out! I have seen it done on Horsepower TV and it seemed pretty straight forward. Good luck!
  19. I have heard nothing but great things about E3 plugs, better combustion less emmissions, better mileage and more horsepower. Maybe they used the wrong plugs (heat range) that were specified for the car. :dunno:
  20. I was looking through my photobucket acount and was tired of waiting for the next picture to load. Photobucket is nice but why is it so slow? So I remember I used to use Picassa and thought I would try to post using this. Well what a suprise when I found a few pictures I forgot about. So here's a few that I misplaced over the years. My truck when I got it home, next to my wrecked '98 XJ which is the reason I thought I would buy a beater truck in the first place. Look at where that thinking got me!! I have a LOT of projects going on right now but I have so much to do on the Comanche.
  21. I know this is from another forum but for those who have an XJ and an MJ like I do they are the exact same. This is a very well documented write-up with a ton of supporting pictures. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/dash-removal-35444/
  22. Loose rocker nuts mainly. You could run the engine without the valve cover on and find out what lifter is sticking by placing a stick near the valve. The other end of the stick will be placed near your ear. DO NOT PUT THE STICK IN YOUR EAR! Kind of like a stethescope, by the way they sell automotive stethescopes at the auto stores cheap, a much safer way. Anyway back on topic if you take off the valve cover place some rags on the edges to soak up any oil so it doesn't run over your exhaust manifold since this could cause a fire if too hot. You may just be able to place your finger on the rocker stud nut and determine the one at fault. When the engine runs the tension will change if the valve is seated or closed. You can also take the time to remove the spark plugs and rotate the engine manually until each valve is seated, but that is way to much work in my opinion. On the cover gasket don't use RTV, it will leak and cause a huge mess. Get a felpro gasket to replace it when you have found the problem. The old one is probably cork and rock hard. Make sure the surface is very clean and all gasket material is removed before re-installing.
  23. Or you can go to the auto parts store and get a shock stud. Or you can just get a grade 8 bolt and cut off the head. I would rather choose new metal to weld with and it's strength. If you go with the shock stud you can have the old one cut off flush with the frame and a new one welded on. Then you don't have to worry about the threads after welding onto the old stud.
