Comanche Aficionado (4/11)

  1. Thanks for the link, Pete. It never said who's truck it was or if they stole it. Kinda dumb to run your own truck into a store and then run away, leaving the truck.
  2. I saw a nasty news story on KWWL waterloo ia. this morning. It showed a flat green Comanche with about a 6" lift stuck through the front of a convenience store.Do we have any members from Waterloo Ia?
  3. The priest at our church flies one of those, very nice older plane, He really likes the low wing style. .
  4. It sure is nice to have a 3/4ton when you're towing, but my K2500HD gets 13 mpg empty, and 7-8 pulling the camper, and about 10 with a loaded open car trailer.
  5. I bought a rusty old Meyer from a guy at work last year, He had found a plastic faced blade for his truck. Probably only saved 20 pounds tho.
  6. What year is the blue one? When I moved to the town I'm in, there was an old Suzuki running around with a 2 liter pinto engine in it. Must have been a mid seventies model.it was realy small.
  7. The 4.0 in my 89 Comanche is so tired, I said, "If it just makes it through the Labor Day weekend, I'll be happy". Well, I went wheeling on labor day, came home and parked in front of the garage, and had to push it out of the way to get out of the garage with my ZJ, No spark!
  8. Actually you change the input on the 231. The newer case will have 23 splines and the older case will be 21 splines.
  9. Thats cool!
  10. Hi Huck! I think you're about the closest member to me, I live in Decorah Iowa
  11. My Son's XJ did the same thing. It was a bad output speed sensor, located on the left rear of the trans. I have seen it described as a switch. You can test it with an ohm meter, I believe, should flick between open and closed as you turn the rear output slowly. maybe it yust got unplugged.
  12. I have a D60 1/2 ton rear in my Comanche. It's out of a 65 Ford 2 wd. It's 61" wide wms to wms. Came with 4.10 ratio. I bet the 3/4 ton is about the same width, up to 1972, and many of them had the 4.10 ratio.
  13. I looked up a tranny for a 96 GC 5.2 on Car-Part.com. I found about 200 of them, and every one came out of a 96. Must be some kind of variation in the electrical part of it. I'm curious, I'm gonna see if I can figger it out.
  14. I don't think the fuel pump will make it run rich, Have you checked the fuel pressure? Does it start ok cold or hot? Try pulling the vacuum hose off at the fuel pressure regulator. If there is gas in the vac. line, your fuel pressure regulator is leaking.
  15. I saw a steel cowl scoop in Jegs I think, A weld on piece, for $149. Have not seen it in person but I thought it looked like it might work on a comanche hood. PN. 106-X301-SCCOP-1for 2" or-2 for 4" tall
