  1. Carquest guy stopped by today, bringing some gifts from Belgium! He had two boxes, which had me confused at first, until he filled me in. Apparently, when I was giving him numbers to search in the beginning, there was a mix up. Based on the different manuals, I came up with the belt number, and 2 "kit" numbers. The kits included the pulleys, one of which had the idler and the tensioner, the other just the tensioner. I gave him the 2 kit numbers, told him either was fine, but would prefer the kit with both pulleys. He told this to the Gates rep, but something got mixed up... So I got both kits! When they finally came in, the CQ guy asked the rep what the damages were for price... The Gates guy said that the part numbers don't even exist in the states so he wouldn't even know what to charge, and to consider them a gift. I asked the CQ guy what he wanted for all the leg work, the time, and the kits... He told me the same thing. No charge. :jump: Any questions about these being right were immediately wiped away when I saw the end of the box: Jeep Renault? I don't know of any other! Big thanks to Tony at Car Quest of Woodstock, IL. Couldn't have gotten these without him. Stand up guy, and I plan on giving him a little something for all the help. Can't wait to put it on. Cleaning out the garage now to make the MJ switch. Rob
  2. Thanks for the comment. The change to the MOABs was I had an offset issue with the icons and mt/rs sidewall lugs rubbing the lca's. The change eliminated this issue. Know about the WJ LCA's? Rob
  3. I like your style. Just wait. This isn't even the half of it. I will update this thread as I pull junk out. Rob :D
  4. Don't think I bought this all at once, or for a lot of money. All of this has been bought/traded for/given to me in 2 or so years. Those who know me best know that unless it's a screaming deal, I don't buy it. I'm cheap. I mean really cheap. Rob
  5. If it's for sale, it will be in the classifieds. Rob
  6. Some of you guys better get hot over there, I see a SWB rollbar, lights, and I bet a plethora of other parts: http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/ctd/2787017763.html Rob

  8. Think about that question, and you'll have your response. Rob
  9. The real problem is that the attic has about that much still in it, another load in the garage, and the shed full 'o' crap. You know I have about 12 gauge clusters? Rob
  10. Stated to clean out the garage today, and it's getting ever more apparent that I have an MJ problem. I can honestly say that if one of you were to have driven by, I'd have been kidnapped, dropped into a river, and my yard would be picked bare... The real problem is that I am only 1/3 of the way through the stuff... There's waaaaayyyy more I didn't pull out of the attic or shed... Ugh. I really need to knock it off for a bit. Rob
  11. Every once and awhile, he lets something go from his hoarder pile. Know who it is? Rob :peek:

    DO WANT:

http://denver.craigslist.org/rvs/2735657488.html This one is on a LWB 'Yota, but it's taller than the cab, and doesn't have the right pitch for it. Could be an MJ one... Sounds semi-motivated, and has reposted the ad as late as the 1st of Jan. Rob

    DO WANT:

Been watching it, but it's so far away. Anyone want to run a chain of MJ owners from CO to near IL? Rob :dunno:
  14. High class garage right there... Even the VW parks on carpet. Rob
  15. If I got the itch to do it, this would be the way I would go. Pick up a used TJ Rubicon, and AEV kit, and use it. I could find way more ways to spend 55K that way. Rob
  16. I have been excited to see Dodge's new contribution to the market. The Neon left quite the gap. They need a mileage contender again to be viable. This could be it. The Alfa Romeo it's based on has been getting great press in Europe. The leaked shots and renderings make it look like a sharp car, although I would have preferred it's original name plate they discussed, Hornet. Rob
  17. Sure about that? I keep up on all the Jeep news pretty good, and I had never heard that the Gladiator was going to make it to production. They did however hint that a truck would be released, but didn't say what. The only thing everyone kept referencing was the Gladiator concept, from the early 2000's. It is green, but it has only been a concept. What did we get when Jeep said they were going to have a truck? A kit that costs thousands of dollars to put on your tens of thousands of dollars JK, and it's still not a real truck. Should have expected some of this nonsense. Turned out that they weren't planning on a full truck in the first place. A rep was talking about how they were too late into the JK's body cycle to rework it into a pickup (Even though the J8 is in current use). From the sound of it, we will have to wait until the next Wrangler refresh to see a from the factory pickup. Which will still be a CJ-8 in my book, rather than a truck. Rob
  18. Most likely the kit. Jeep offers a cut/weld/paint kit to turn a 4 door JK into a pickup... Some dealers do it before they sell it... Rob
  19. Just checking if enough guys in the area might want to be in a parade this year. The Harvard Milk Days parade is usually pretty good. Not to mention the little festival in the park has your decent array of carnival food and fun. Would there be enough interest here for me to get us in? Maybe have a few MJ's, and make up a sign or something? The parade would be June 2nd. I used to run this we the Fire Dept it's a good time. We can get some sacks of candy for the kids, arm the passengers with squirt guns, and have some fun. http://www.milkdays.com/ Rob
  20. All these people getting shirts and no pictures of the happy recipients wearing them!? Rob :D
  21. Going to be real honest here. That's not as bad as I was picturing. I see a bumper, header panel, hood, cowl, radiator, fan, maybe water pump, and some hammer/pulling work on the front. With all the junk out of the way, you might just find an inward bend of the rails to the crossmember you could spread with a port-a-power. For the cab, meh, more hammer work. For the most part, from the limited pics you posted, I would say that that's fixable. Hell, if you were planning on keeping it a wheeler, fix the front, bang out that cab, and call it done. Use the money to buy a winch bumper, lockers... I'm sure you get the idea. Don't let the insurance company junk the title, tell them you want a clear title if they are going to write it off, and buy it back. Be real nice to the adjuster when he/she comes out. It goes a long way. If they want to junk it, ask them what they value it at and fight them if you think it's low. When I was threatened to only get $1000 for an MJ of mine, I cried BS. I was nice enough to the adjuster that he just told me to make up hand written receipts from somewhere for the additional parts and time in it, ended up giving me $2000, and letting me keep my truck with a free and clear title (I got hit in the cab corner by a Taurus.). The truck ran and drove fine, I just used the money to buy a newer Mopar. The adjuster was happy because he got rid of me, and his boss was happy because of the receipts. Keep your chin up, at least it didn't burn to the ground or anything. Still in alright shape. Rob
  22. Put my plates on it: Rob 8)
  23. I think that's what makes a good company great - Dealing with the critics. Rob :D
  24. Just got my Antique Vehicle plates for the '86 today. Rob
  25. Captains log, 1/4/12. Belt is on it's way here from Denver, made it there from Belgium this week. The Farmer is out, after some house cleaning, The Diesel will be in for work. Got another special delivery in the mail today. They are vanity Illinois Antique Vehicle plates. I wasn't 100% sure I would get my first choice, but when I opened the mail today, I was overjoyed. It's a good thing there aren't many antique diesels out there. Now I pity the poor sucker who catches the plate and asks me about it. I hope they have a few hours to spare once they start the machine that is my nerd-dom. Rob
