WBKrazy replied to Frogger's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
welcome! remember, jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket.... :rotf: if you don't want to wind up spending all your money on it you should sell it quick, preferably to me :rotf: seriously tho theres a lot of good and knowledgeable people on here that can probably answer every question you could possibly think to ask about mj's -
yeah, c-it-go is owned by venezuela, has been for some time... there's none of them around me that i can think of... as for where i fill up, it depends on what i'm near when i need gas.... there's an irving station across the street from work thats usually the cheapest around, i fill up there most of the time.. about the only two i haven't used at some point is khout and valero...

WBKrazy replied to tjjeejeepcomanche's topic in Wanted
i beleive she's talking about one of the 4 clips that hold the air intake tube to the throttle body, it snaps on with 4 metal clips... you can kind of see one in this pic... Image Not Found -

i've owned and driven many vehicles with the 4.3, and both mine and the wife's current DD's have one... mine is a '91 sonoma and hers a '99 blazer.... the older carbed ones and the newer vortec ones are the problem children, but the TBI motors (88 to 92&1/2) are just as reliable as the sbc's of that era... that being said, i still wouldn't swap one into a jeep, because as noted above you might as well go with a 305/350 instead... if you don't really wanna get involved with a drivetrain swap and all you're looking for is a bit more punch, edelbrock makes a bunch of bolt-ons for the 2.8, like headers, intake manifolds, carbs, etc... i had a friend in school that built one up using all the edelbrock stuff and some MSD goodies in an 82 s10 longbed, it wasn't a rocket ship but it was pretty damm quick

had a couple gems.... my 87 Lincoln Town Car AKA "the Clinkin"... named it that cause a new noise would pop up every day.... bought it for $50 when my buick lesabre was in the body shop after my accident and spent 2 whole days cleaning it up and deodorizing it so i could actually drive it :rotf: the PO was a painter and it was his work vehicle... paint cans popped open in the trunk, and everything in there was glued to the carpet with paint.. i rolled up the whole trunk carpet with everything attached to it, including the car's jack, and threw it right in the dumpster .... it had power vent windows up front that would roll down before the main window, the d. side one was stuck open about 1/2 inch... the right rear window only opened halfway, left rear not at all.... rear brakes were nonexistent, found this out when i tried to park on a patch of ice, brake pedal to the firewall and the rear wheels were still spinning :rotf:.. tranny xmember was broken on one side, so the ebrake cable was holding the tranny up. at full throttle the interior filled up with acrid white smoke that poured in from the vents ( i ended up fixing that though, found out the problem was a damm breather filter the size of a 1/2 roll of quarters that sits inside the intake and was supposed to stop oil from getting in there... i wonder how many of them got junked cause noone knew about that filter, i found out about it from an old timer ford tech who heard me talking about it with my buddy at a swap meet).. after the buick was fixed i drove it to the junkyard a couple miles up the road with my bike in the trunk , they gave me $25 for it and i rode the bike home. next up... the "danger ranger" :rotf: 87 ford ranger 2wd w/a 2.9 v6, bought it for $100 and drove it for a while... the exhaust manifolds leaked and it was obscenely loud, but no shop in a 20 mile radius was willing to touch it and neither was i, so i dealt with it... every time you let off the gas to slow down from anything over 40 mph it would backfire so loud it sounded like i was taking shots at people :rotf: me and a friend ended up attempting to do the exhaust manifold gaskets and broke every single bolt off flush with the heads, so i ended up trading it for a 68 Lincoln mark III that ran but needed a complete resto to someone who wanted the motor for a bronco 2. then there was the honda.... 88 accord hatchback.... went to look at a camaro with my friend (for him) and the guy had the honda sitting in his yard too.. it was stolen and he got it back, but the interior was hacked up, all the speakers and the radio were gone and the d.side window was broken... bought it for $100 cause i needed a spare car, wired some junk speakers and a radio into it and replaced the front seats and the broken window.. every so often it would just die and wouldn't restart for about an hour, i almost lost my job cause of this car :rotf: .. the right front caliper was stuck, but i never replaced it.. all 4 tires had belts showing.. the entire trunk floor was rotted out... i ended up losing the keys for it and it got towed during a snow parking ban, and i never went to pick it up cause i had never registered it....

i'm in RI, according to mapquest i'm about 4 hours away... sounds like a cool place, there's hardly any offroading spots around here.....

it's not a moving violation, so i don't believe it will... here in RI it doesn't....

:rotf: yeah, you had to have heard this clown talk though, he deserved all that plus more... one of those "i know everything about these cars, you know nothing, and how about a $500 discount cause the left front tires a little low and theres some rust on the control arm bolts" kind of jerks... and then when he bought the car i went to bank of america with him so he could pay me with a business check, and because i don't have an account there the teller asked me for 2 forms of id so i could cash it, then a 3rd one cause they couldnt accept my work id, and he lit into the teller, screaming and swearing at her....

Mine was made by Drawtite. :dunno: yeah, you're right now that i think about it.. its been quite some time since i've worked there...

did you order it from a store or the website? i used to work at uhell installing hitches, and when we did inventory any hitch that hadn't moved in at least a year got one of those tags, meaning not to order another one for stock if we ended up using it... i think uhaul hitches are made by reese so as long as they make it it should still be available..

swapped the signature series steering wheel out of it, and the challenger series steering wheel in... then put the signature series wheel in my '91 sonoma

haha nice i had a guy try to haggle me down like that when i sold my '01 police interceptor.... i had it on craigslist for $2200 OBO, basing the price off of a cleaner one with less miles a couple towns over that was on there for $2800.. this clown called me up and talked my face off for almost an hour nitpicking about every stupid thing you could possibly think to ask someone selling a car, then at the end he says "well, lets talk price. it needs paint, rear shocks, etc, and $2200 is a high price for that year anyway, would you take 1500?" i said hell no i won't" and he proceeds to tell me about the clean black '01 he found online that the owner wants $1800 for.. it was here that i interuppted him and said "you're talking about the all black one in lincoln with tinted windows and 130k miles right? he said yeah how'd you know? and i lit into him.. i said "cause you're full of it.... i saw that one, and he wants $2800, not $1800. matter of fact that's how i came up with the price for mine, and you can bet your bottom dollar that if mine was all black and not blue and white 2-tone i'd be askin that much for mine too!" then i laughed and said, "you got $1500? go buy a '92 camry and get f-------!" the best part was he called me back 2 weeks later and i ended up selling it to him for $1800 :rotf:

what cherokee doors will fit?
WBKrazy replied to nitroxsteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the 97-up doors have a different latch, which means you need to install a 97-up door striker on the pillar somehow, and i believe that the wiring for the windows/locks is different -
Steering Wheel Moves In and Out
WBKrazy replied to cromanyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ever been in an accident with it? the saginaw columms are designed to collapse a bit internally in the event of a front end collision to help minimize injury, its basically like a slip yoke and the two sections are held together with a shear pin.... my guess is the shear pin is broken... i think they can be repaired, not 100% tho... -
not sure, but i believe the fuel pump grounds out to the bed somewhere near the taillight... any wires disconnected back there?
