Comanche of the month, Mar 2010 --- GLUNDBLAD's 1987
WBKrazy replied to Automan2164's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
congrats! most likely one of the top 10 cleanest mj's still out there! -
the 302, or even a 351, would be a cool swap, not sure i've seen one in an xj/mj.. to keep it stick you could use either an nv3500, 4500, or if you're not averse to trimming the hell out of the trans tunnel you could also use the ZF S-542 or 547... if i was going to do a ford small block swap, it would be a 351, and i would either go carbed or use the last version of the EEC-IV electronics (94-96)... cause those years were OBD-II, and the 87-93 version of it isn't very user friendly should you ever need to diagnose any problems that may arise.... the ecoboost motor, while a very cool idea, will probably be a very difficult and expensive swap, not to mention that it doesn't come in anything 4x4, so finding a trans to work with it would probably be difficult... but i'm of the opinion that anything can be done, with an unlimited bank account and scads of free time to work with :rotf: if you want to go turbo, they make kits for the 4.0 that'll cost you a LOT less time and pain than trying to swap an ecoboost in..

what do you listen to when your driving/wheeling?
WBKrazy replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in The Pub
almost everything, depending on what I'm in the mood for.... i'll swing from oldies to death metal to country to rap to standup comedy to talk all in one sitting :rotf: ... i have xm in the mj, my fullsize chevy, and my house so I'm usually listening to that.... i cycle through all the channels but the ones i usually play are liquid metal, the boneyard, faction, classic vinyl, classic rewind, hair nation, lithium, octane, willie's place, the roadhouse, prime country, shade 45, and backspin -
shipped out this morning! thanks again

not 100% but i think that most if not all of the 4.3 powered s10's and junior blazers have the 8.5 10 bolt, and the 2.5 and 2.8 trucks got the smaller ones.... i have a 91 sonoma 4.3 and the wife has a 99 blazer and they both have the 8.5... and a lot of the 1/2tons do have the 10 bolt, even the z71's... most of them that ive seen have had it with 3.55's but you can get them with a 14 bolt and 4.11's.... mine has the 14 bolt :brows: not sure why you would want to swap one into an mj though :dunno:, the 44 and the 8.25 are much better axles... where i work we run a fleet of 98 and 99 astro vans, all with around 200k miles and almost all of them needed axle rebuilds at or around 160k

i had a nice evening all planned out, dinner at a nice italian restaurant a couple towns over, ice skating in providence, and some alone time at home.... and about noontime yesterday i get a call from my uncle and aunt asking me to help them move out of their place today.... so while the wifey was at home recovering from the crazy saturday night party we had, i was in the chevy and headed up to new hamsphire at 8 AM :ack: didnt finish up until about 9 at night, and now she's in bed and i'm on here :rotf: next weekend is our 3-year anniversary tho so i guess ill make up for it then

whose was it? i know it's not mine, mike's (comanche87) or jim's (maddzz1), and i think there's only 2 or 3 more of us from rhody on here.... jeepcoma, yesterday's danish, and brak... -
for a bit of extra torque, say when pulling a boat and trailer out of the water, or getting someone unstuck from a ditch or something like that
-
yeah the 2lo is a cool feature... i thought about getting one for the mj but for the cost i'd rather just shim the CAD over... on the chevy though you don't really have that option... they do make a cheaper kit than the one i got which is just a pin and a cover for the actuator housing, and that keeps the axle locked all the time, but a friend of mine said that he's seen a couple people who used that setup and the pin actually broke and ruined the axle :dunno:
-
figured i'd put this in here cause i remember a while back someone on here said they had gotten one for their xj or mj... i've had no 4x4 in my fullsize chevy since before xmas cause of a bad front axle actuator...i've had the posi-lok kit sitting in my garage for a few weeks now, with the "blizzard of 2010" :rotf: looming, i figured last night would be a pretty good time to install it..... Image Not Found... it works pretty good, here's some pics of the finished install... the cable under the dash, it mounts to the inner dash support and you have to drill a 9/16 hole in the firewall to run the cable through.... Image Not Found and here's what the rest of it looks like.... Image Not Found Image Not Found
