  1. It will move the center of the rim toward the outside of the vehicle. if they are 7" rims then they will be centered exactly. With this in mind you must remember that with the stock backspacing the tire is inside of the flare and wheel well. if you move it out too much it will not tuck inside the wheel well. HTH
  2. The rubber isolated shafts suck for making adjustments. You have to retube them completely. Can't just cut to size.
  3. You may be comparing apples and oranges. Is one of the MJ's lifted and one stock. That would explain the 1.5" difference. plus you would do just as well to just measure after its done and do the shaft right in the begining.
  4. Stripes Stripped. Cleaned it up a little. Still going to drop the molding on the bottom and use gray Herc up to that body line. Should look pretty good.
  5. Front is 4" TJ lift springs. Rear is Rusty's 2" AAL with Chevy 2" drop shackles.
  6. I see TJ's all the time with the 4 banger and 33's.  I drove my TJ on 33's with a 2.5 and 5 speed for 2 years. I just don't see my 2.5TBI with an AW4 doing what it is supposed to do. It is supposed to be running 4.56's stock but I am running the 4.10's until I can have the front regeared. I have the stock rear axle with 4.56's waiting to go in when I regear. Then the 33's could be an offroad option but I don't think it would do well past 31's for daily driving.
  7. I will add the Bling radio pics when the inside is done, lights are done and the console is coming.
  8. Trim panel is getting a coat of body color in a week or two. I just had the grill and bezels in the workshop hanging up so I installed them. It will be real sweet when the whole front has that limited feel.
  9. Here is a short summary of what I have done. I will be expanding this as time allows later. This project started in Feb of 2006. I have been working on it since then. I started with a 2WD 88MJ Shortbed. It did not run and it was in bad shape mechanically. The rest(body, frame, interior) was in ok shape. Did a 2WD to 4WD swap and added an AW4 tranny since old one was bad. I have been making some small changes to my MJ over the last few weeks. It is becoming more of a daily driver. I got a new front bumper, which meant I would have to swap springs to hold up said bumper. Then that meant I had to lift the rear to match the front. Then I had to cut a little off the front to make the bumper look OK. So it is coming along but there are still some things left to do. I am going to need to replace the Cat. When I do this I am hoping to find someone on here to weld it up for me. Then I will add a new muffler and tailpipe, so hopefully the sound will be a little quieter and more civilized. Here are some pics from the transformation so far. When I first got it and it did not even run. After the 2WD to 4WD swap and at its maiden voyage offroad. After the bumper install, with the front springs and an AAL. After some Lift shackles and some trimming, as well as some new to me front shocks. Didn't trim much but it makes a huge difference. Next is removing the stripes and doing some body work. It just may have to go wheeling in the next month or so. It looks like it needs it.
  10. ZJ's had disc's on the rear. You can find them in the yard sometimes. It is not alot of work if you are doing an entire rehab of the rear system. If you are replaccing everything except the backing plate anyway it would be worth looking at.
  11. I swear Wildman, Great minds I think is what they say. Tone I hope this stuff helps. I think you will have a tough time finding what you need outside of a JY.
  12. Glad you got it going. Its a great feeling isn't it.
  13. I don't think it will be a thing you can get til monday. might have to get it from dealer or from car-parts.com or the like. The link hooks to the back of the shoe and has a pivot arm. the cable itself goes through a hole in the backing plate with the spring clip on the end of the sheath. the sheath bolts to the body before it goes to the central cable. The brake lever and spring do go on behind the shoes.
  14. I would if I had some aftermarket wheels I might think about it..........for about 15 seconds. 4.10's + 2.5l just don't equal 33's with an automatic. I will be getting some new wheels and looking to put the 31's on here when I get some money for the truck that can go to wants and not fixes.
  15. Try this thread it may help http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... ght=brakes has a couple good pics.
  16. I believe there are some good pics on here from when Jeff and I swapped axles. he took some real good shots.
  17. Looks sweet. Glad you got them on there it looks so much better. Mine seems to drive ok now that the only loose nut is the nut behid the wheel. Tightening the lug nuts seems to fix a lot. I will let you know how the highway ride is after tom when I get it out on the interstate for a little bit and test it. I will put some pics up tom as well to show my little cuts.
  18. Nothing else.
  19. I wasn't the one who posted "Vato" pics, now was I? :D I was nice..... Those drop shackles seemed to do the trick, but we might need to reposition that AAL. I'm free this weekend, but am on call again, so if ya wanna wrench it some more, let me know. Yer place or mine, doesn't matter...... I'll bring the TB, too. I am up to give it a try on Sat. Just depends on the weather and parts availability. I think I need to replace or rehab most of the steering. So I am going to look through my pile-o-parts and see what I can put new ends on and what I need to get.
  20. Thats in the works. they will be flush cut with the bumper. I had to wait on the battery to charge in the sawzall, so I never got to it. It will be done this weekend. I also may get that dent knocked out in the bed. It looks real bad. I have a winch that needs to be rebuilt and it will go in the front bumper which should give it a tiny amount of rake. It is being built for Daily Driving so the lift is more to compensate for the weight of the bumper and make entry and exit easier.
  21. They are from @76 to 96 chevy c1500 2 inch drop shackles. Got them from Independent4x.com , They can get them for you. Tell Matt, Jerry sent you for the shackles if you talk to him.
  22. OK, Jeff has been making me look bad with his lift and SOA work. I had to post up the work I have done or he would never let it go. Custom4x4Fabricators Front bumper and stock front skid added. 4" TJ springs up front, 2"AAL+2"Chevy drop shackles in the rear.(might need to do some morework on this. It has a little DW around 45 if I hit a bump, but I think a new track bar will cure that with a steering stabilizer.
  23. Looks good. Now you are going to make me post mine after my shackles get on.
  24. Hope oyur wife is OK. That does suck for you guys.
  25. I just saw what I think is the solution to this(I have a 2.5 as well). Harbor freight has a set of spark plug sockets with a built in wobble. They are a cheap and easy fix for this. And they just went on sale. I know HF is cheap stuff, but if it is for a single purpose like this I think it is OK.
