Picture this. Driving along down the highway in my 88 MJ with a 2.5TBI with AW4 and the motor starts coughing and sputtering like its gonna have a seizure. Then it acts like its got a cold. Then it just dies. Give it a few minutes and it will start right back up and let you go down the road for a bit. Then it decides to do it again. I talked to Mjeff about this issue and he had the same thing, but he diconnected his o2 sensor and it went away. I tried that and it went away, but not for good. It got me home. I went to work yesterday and going to work it was fine. Coming home it died. Sat for a minute and it started up and made it home. About 10 miles. It acts like it is starved for fuel. I have replaced the fuel filter, and the fuel pump it less than a year old. I have not dropped the tank, but I see that in my future. I also see a thorough cleaning of the Throttle body, and injector. CPS is less than 4 months old. Only thing else I could think of would be the MAP sensor, TPS, or the IAC. Does anyone or everyone have any idea what is going on with this thing. I need it to be reliable so it can be my DD. Thanks in advance. Jerry

mjeff is planning on doing this and mounting it where the spare would normally be. I have a 2gal tank from a air suspension company(low-rider) that I am planning on mounting opposite the gas tank.

Try and find a product called knocker loose. Fastenall carries it. It is better than PB -
It needs to be all the way to the shoulder.

15 around town with my AW4 and 20-25 on the highway depending on the load.

Jeff you are always one step ahead of me in the cheap deal dept. I was sitting here thinking I have some cash here and they would be nice to have to level out MY MJ. Then you post your beer deal.
-
that is a stock MJ/XJ mount. Looks like the mount for a 2WD AW4. at least it looks like the one I removed from mine when I converted it.
-
It changes the shift points in the AW4 tranny. If you are running the AW4 then you need it. Unless you are going to run another form of shift package, like the eightball. Otherwise you need the switch and the controller and the wiring harness.

Where did you get this remover? I am in need of one to get rid of my pioneer stripes. I would love to get one myself. Can you post your source please?

I would love to see interior pics for the parting out. I am looking for carpet and console(if its the small console).

I just replaced my condenser and pulled a vac. held fine so I finished the conversion to 134a and now it gets real cold in about 5-10 minutes. It is well worth the effort here in VA.

Welcome back. Glad to see you made it back in one piece.

Check on Summit for the rims. You can pick the width, diameter, BS and offset, as well as bolt pattern. They are not too much $$$ either.

Rube Goldberg eat your heart out!!!!!

use 'goo-gone' it works great with a scrubber sponge.

I use black. Just personal preference.

Find a fire extiguisher company. They are usually the cheapest we have around here. Also you need to check the date on the tank cause to get it filled it has to be in the test date range. Have to be tested every 5 years I think.

I have had good success with www.newjeepparts.com . they have good deals.

Looks good.

Where you can save money is by pulling the entire tie rod(ends & sleeve), and using it as a trail spare. You can put new ends on it and carry it with you so when you bend yours on the trail its an easy swap.

You need to match the screws in the speedo. If you have philips heads in your cluster then you need to get them in the new one. If you have slotted in yours then get one with slotted. Also if you are getting the cluster you might as well grab the cable if the setup if the same on the drivetrain. -
I just finished the same thing. If you have questions, this is the place to ask. Mjeff is also a good resource.
