Console Screw Attachment Question
tjbliley replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
there should be two other screws maybe. one on the pass side under the shifter against the right side on the inside. The other is from the direction of the firewall I think coming right back at the t-case shifter. ALOT of the consoles break when removed because people don't' find the one on the right. there are some good pics on here which show the bracket which goes from the internal boot attachment and is shaped like a very flat v running front to back on the right side. The console screws in to that on that side. The other screws go into locations on the t-case shifter bracket. -
Sweet transformation. I think it looks great. just needs a little TLC in the shine aspect. a good coat of wax once a year will help it slide past the trees. I picked up my adj track bar today so I am going to be working on it next weekend if I can find some control arm bushings so I can do a full swap and do a total rehab on the front susp. Might even be ready to disassemble the 4x4 springs and clean them up. Gonna try and do the TRE's while I am at it. I will give you a call.

All I know is that Every State Trooper I have asked who works in the Safety division, which administers the inspectors, has said that 'no retreads on passenger vehicles'. Next time I call to the headquarters here in Richmond I will get a Troopers name and have him give me the code sections that applies so the information can be passed on and the arguement settled. I would love to run some retreads. I think they are economic and just as good in most cases as new tires. Like you said the virgin casing thing makes some sense to me. I would use them for my trail tires but use new as daily drivers. That is just me.

cutting front fender/flares in the rear
tjbliley replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
he can put his TJ tires on to pass inspection. that is not a problem, but they will find something. -
won't work cause it is only for a MPFI, not the TBI.

4WD light wont shut off?
tjbliley replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
could it have a np207 t-case. I think it might be in a different location. in the front next to where the tranny mounts to the tcase. It is the same part just in a differnt loaction. -

valve cover bolts torque specs is 55 ft/lbs -
remove oil pan. loosen cap on the end. emphasise on loosen. rotate seal out with new seal. That is the quick and dirty of it. but you can do it without removign the tranny. The actual job is a little more indepth than this but that is the jist of it.

http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504 ... C30-70-130 is the section of the ispection rules and regs that I have been told applies to retreads. Number 12 ni this section of the regulations regarding inspections. I may be wrong, but I think we are talking about apples and oranges. The study seems to focus on Truck tires. It does not address light truck and passenger tires. That is the difference.

And pls don't drive near me, cause I don't want to be there when they turn in to gators and kill somebody.

You cannot pass safety inspection in VA with retreads. Hope you haven't ordered them yet.

Interior courtesy lights
tjbliley replied to attaboybob's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did what he did and added a footwell light from an XJ in the JY. Now my wife does not mind taking the MJ to work and driving home at 8:00 at night. She is very happy. The lights done have a setting light the ones attaboy showed but you have the light switch for the interior lights. -
I swapped the console to a T-case Bezel. Also added a cover plate for where the console used to be. I think it cam out pretty good. Working on the interior moldings next. Then the dash. Should be done in a few weeks.

I run those on my WJ. They are pretty good. The bumpstop is not going to be something you want as your last point before you rub the tread off your tires. It is pretty soft. It is more for added cushion when under load and you go to ful compression. not a stopping point.

If you want it to get hot. Run it in the driveway with cardboard in front o f the radiator. Block the airflow and run the AC. You will see the temp come up very nicely.

Doetsch Tech 8000 series.

I went to the Pace Edwards website. www.pace-edwards.com It shows a roll top cover for short and long bed MJ's. Might be worth a look. Did not get a price but the part number is a start. Also has a way to find a local vendor.

No they just cushion full compression.

Super Newbie ? - Removing Rotor
tjbliley replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't know for sure but I think it was SAE. maybe 1 1/8 but don't quote me. I made 3 trips to the tool tore when I did mine and I would have to try my sockets to tell you for sure.
