The truck is well maintained and all original. It was repainted at one time.

I need to replace the rear main seal on my 4.0 liter in-line 6. The repair book states to remove the transmittion. I have read a couple of other entries and they state I will not have to remove the transmittion just remove the oil pan. Is this true? can someone help me?Please explain. Thanks
