The MJ was sold 15 minutes away from my house in ohio ( I knew the seller ) , I can assure the odometer was not rolled back ( it had 17k when I looked at it ) . There has been changed since I seen it in person : turbines instead of white wagon wheels . So you aren't getting a signal to trigger the injectors to fire ? I know you said you changed the CPS , what voltage are you getting at the CPS plug when cranking ?

How did you verify spark and fuel ?

Just testing to see if I could upload a pic by scaling it down , which I got to work . I used my iPhone and send an oversized pic to my email at a smaller size and was able to post it on here . It worked but will be a lengthy process.... I seen a set of four for sale on eBay for $150, I could send you a link if you're interested.

No offense taken , but a muffler( which is stock and in good shape ) or a soundproofing ( which I've already done ) won't effect RPMs . The axles were just installed (from 3:07 to 4:10 ) and I have no intention to change them now , I would have went with 3:55s if I knew that this was going to be higher than my liking , it really is easier for me to change a trans ( my buddies trans shop ) than it is to regear / swap axles .

While I agree with you Eagle some things have changed in the past 30 years . When these trucks first came out the speed limits were lower ( 55-65 around me ) now we have a lot of 70mph highways around here and when I'm going 70 I'm getting passed like I'm standing still. I don't plan on doing 80mph , but 75 mph is probably a realistic number ( and is a possibility that some highways will be raised to that ) so the RPMs will be even higher , and I would like to hear a little bit better too .

Yes it agrees with my dash tach , I can read up to 4 things at a time with the R.E.M. . I keep the engine RPM , fuel trim , O2 readings , and TPS on most of the time ...

Lol. I know . My black truck is considerably more quiet with the same drivetrain, lizard skin and all , minus the manual trans . My thought process is that the higher engine RPMs is the culprit, which is why I'd like to pursue the 6spd to drop some RPMs .

Window seals are new along with NOS vent windows , I replaced all of that when I installed power windows / locks , and I retained the water/wind dams from a 95XJ . I also sprayed lizard skin sound deadener on the floors / back panel a month ago , I'm still using the original carpet minus the jute padding to prevent moisture on the floor boards .

I'm not sure what you're getting at , I mentioned the Nsg370 (6speed ) several times . I'm not spending $3500 on any trans , and I won't buy a junk one either . Has as anyone seen or done the Nsg 370 swap in a Comanche or Cherokee???

There are problems with every transmission , my nv3550 sounds like it has 1500 ball bearings in it when at idle , the ax15s lose synchros too ( maybe because they used the wrong fluid , which could also be the case of the NSG370) . I have a friend that rebuilds transmissions , he will go through anything that I buy and make sure it's in good shape before installation, and he owes me several favors .

It has the original exhaust in good shape , good idea though . I never did like the loud exhaust mufflers .

Yep I skipped over it , but I think the bell housing would not bolt up to the 4.0 anyhow .

I wouldn't go and say it's a problem, just would love to lower the RPM for a quieter ride , MPG was never an issue as I know it was never meant to be a gas saver . My other 88 MJ with a 4.7 /AW4 / 355 ratio and 235/70/15 tires rides nice at 70-75 mph ( and lower RPM ) and I'd like to match that if I can .
