There are problems with every transmission , my nv3550 sounds like it has 1500 ball bearings in it when at idle , the ax15s lose synchros too ( maybe because they used the wrong fluid , which could also be the case of the NSG370) . I have a friend that rebuilds transmissions , he will go through anything that I buy and make sure it's in good shape before installation, and he owes me several favors .

It has the original exhaust in good shape , good idea though . I never did like the loud exhaust mufflers .
-
Yep I skipped over it , but I think the bell housing would not bolt up to the 4.0 anyhow .
-
I wouldn't go and say it's a problem, just would love to lower the RPM for a quieter ride , MPG was never an issue as I know it was never meant to be a gas saver . My other 88 MJ with a 4.7 /AW4 / 355 ratio and 235/70/15 tires rides nice at 70-75 mph ( and lower RPM ) and I'd like to match that if I can .

I don't have an LS nor do I have an NV4500..

I couldn't find it on the list

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html Just seen this , might look at putting in the NSG370 , according to the site above I'd be losing a decent Rpm at 70mph If I would have known earlier I would have ran 373 gears , but now since I just installed 4:10s I'd like to explore other options.

I think I have an Over Heating Problem
Strokermjcomanche replied to AMC86Kid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just my shot in the dark ........ the 2.8 had a v-belt setup and you're running a serpentine belt( with the 3.4 or 2.8 pump/pulleys?) , is the rotation / direction of the water pump flow correct ? -
I can assure that I'm at 70mph at 2700 rpms on my Toyo Open Country AT 31s . I'm using Nicks R.E.M. Along with a GPS and the correct speedo gear , and I've pace matched my buddies car at 70mph . Don , is the Benz trans bigger then the Nv3550 , I wonder how the clutch setup would work ..... I don't care what speed it is as long as it would considerably drop the rpms , as it stands I can be at 40mph in 5th gear and have power to accelerate.

Looking to possibly put a 6 speed in my 88 SWB with a 4.7 stroker that currently has a NV 3550 with 4:10 ratio and 31x10.5x15 tires . Just seeing if if someone has done this swap and if it was worth it ...My biggest issue is that the engine is at a higher RPM (2700@70mph) then I'd like to have it , even though I know that's in the allowed range . I'm doing a lot of highway driving and would like to lower the RPMs if possible . I have plenty of low end power and it's much quieter in the cab too . Just in the planning process right now , thanks for your insight

Making roll bar brackets

I have the wheel well pieces , I'd also like to purchase a complete set once you make them .... -
Thanks for all the responses. I'll going to the funeral on the 24th and the benefit that some friends are having to help with the expenses. I really hate this type of funeral the most , not saying that there are any good ones either , what do you say ? Well he lived a good life .... he's not suffering... I guess it'll be my condolences....

It's not that I don't want to wear my seatbelt , it's not restricting , or a struggle to put on .I just forget to put it on after the drive through/ in a rush etc . He was a good kid and didn't deserve to go out like that , I really feel bad for his father that now has to bury his 19 year old son and live with grief the rest of his life ...

Good friend and former coworker of mine lost his 19 year old son this morning . I admittedly don't wear my seatbelt sometimes, but this will change that ... http://wkbn.com/2017/09/17/niles-rollover-crash-leaves-1-dead-3-with-serious-injuries/

Rear Sliding Glass
Strokermjcomanche replied to Lindsay's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The factory slider is all glass , not plexiglass . If you need a latch ,and it is a factory slider I may know where one is at ..., -
00/01 4.0 in a 95 Cherokee

00/01 4.0 in a 95 Cherokee
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's the complete 95 harness and all .I've replaced the ENTIRE cooling system minus the engine block , so I'm assuming a crack in the block or a clogged cooling port ( I flushed it very good) . I'll probably just stick with the 7120 head for now being it was just rebuilt , I doubt the head on the 00/01 is bad right now ( already checked and it's not a TUPY head ) . I forgot to mention he also has a bored throttle body along with a hesco throttle body spacer . Never thought about the girdle ... thanks . -
00/01 4.0 in a 95 Cherokee
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I understand about the head , which is why I was putting the 95 head on . What are you referring to as not easy ? -
I have a 95 Cherokee 4.0 auto drivetrain in my 89 Comanche and the engine is overheating still after replacing / cleaning the whole system including a rebuilt head . Question is : I have a friend that has a 00/01 XJ engine with 35k miles that I get for $300 , will it work ? I know I've got to change the head ( which I can switch from my 95 engine because it was freshly rebuilt ) and put the distributor in . Anything else I'm not seeing as to why it won't work?
