Lizard Skin Sound Deadener
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Jeep Driver . I plan on putting carpet in on top of the lizard skin . I'll have to live without the jute padding . When I took the old carpet and padding out it was so waterlogged . Atleast when the carpet gets wet in the winter from the snow it'll dry quicker than the padding . I just was wondering how it holds up -

Lizard Skin Sound Deadener
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used por 15 on my s-10 blazer and wasn't pleased with the results . But yes water= rust. I figured a sound deadener / water barrier on the inside of the floors would kill two birds with one stone . If I used por 15 then Id have to find something to deaden sound . Akula : how long has it been in ? Have you taken a look to see how it's held up? Thanks -
Lizard Skin Sound Deadener
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Although its nice to be quiet It's not as important to me to have the sound deadening quality as it is the water barrier . I've seen dynamat , but it's more expensive and time consuming IMO . -
Has anyone used this Lizard skin ?? It's a spray on sound deadener that is supposed to be a water barrier also . I was thinking on using it on the floors of my truck instead of the jute padding A.K.A "sponge" . I would like to hear from someone that's used it and had it in there truck / car for an extended period of time to see how it holds up . Thanks in advance .

4Wd Swap Needs Done Asap, Need Answers
Strokermjcomanche replied to Dando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The newer aw4 trans has 2 extra wires inside the trans plugs (black and white ) towards the passenger side of the valve cover by the firewall. You will also need to use the tcu out of your xj also . I would use the Comanche crossmember and the xj torque convertor. If the mj speedo is mechanical then you'll have to find a longer speedo cable and a mechanical speedo part that fits in your tcase . The mj was meant to be 4wd it's pretty straight forward.I'm in the middle of converting my 3rd truck to 4wd and my donor is a 95 xj but I'm doing a complete swap -
To each his own . I do stuff that other people wouldn't and vice versa. Why do people put different interiors ,lights, tires , wheels , dually flares etc. If there was meant to be no difference in anything every single vehicle would look identical . I can tell you there's some people I don't want to look / act like either different is good (quote from Arby's ) lol. After all aren't we considered different because of what we drive?

Comanche Dually In Tx $2750
Strokermjcomanche replied to dancome433's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
The mj I took the flares off of only had a 35 c clip axle under it . They make adapters that convert for the dually wheels ( ask yellaheep ) . -
Sorry it's grey but the cloth center section is a different pattern/ style

Comanche Dually In Tx $2750

No factory duallys. It's an add on . I have a pair of dually fenders right now in my basement . -
Do you still have the cable out of the 4wd donor ? You can use the one out of the donor . If you don't have the donor cable anymore you can order a new one or go to a junkyard and grab one .

No I mean a locker for offroading so both wheels are locked together

Cad Axle Question
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Mudfoot that's the answer I was looking for but didn't want to hear! Just out of curiosity the Dana 30 stub shafts are 70 plus dollars . Anyone know of any cheaper places to get a new one ?? -
Does it have a locker ? If not I would check the leaf spring bolts and bushings that go through the frame and the axle u bolts for tightness . Also check to make sure that you don't have a cracked leaf spring . If none of that works might be spider gears in the differential .

Somebody correct me if they think this won't work . But how about using a diesel remote start ? Some of the better remote starts have the option to allow the glow plugs to warm up before it starts to crank the engine over . And couldn't you advance the CPS or buy a high altitude cps to start it a bit quicker also ?

I have one that's 99 % perfect but the cloth is a different color . Pm me if you're interested
