  1. The stats look competitive on it, I'd try to find a third party review before you buy though. Most 9K winches draw more than 350 amps so its low amp draw, may make it a good choice if you're running a stock battery and charging system. Also for a few bucks more you're in the range of a Warn M8000 and you get a limited lifetime warranty instead of a 1 year warranty - or could pick up a used winch off someone. I'm also wondering why with a 265:1 ratio its line speed, 6.4 fpm, is similar to my Warn HS9500's line speed of 6.67 fpm with only a 156:1 ratio. Seems like it would be much slower with a deeper ratio, unless the spool is larger which would reduce (numerically) the gearing and speed up the line.
  2. That Chevy kicks butt! Here's a couple others, I think are awesome. I'm going to stop now, but that flattie actually looks fairly straight if you don't pay any attention to the camper remnants on top of it. :rotf:
  3. Somebody put something in the Giants food, they made the playoffs and started playing like mad dogs on a strict diet of raw meat and gunpowder.
  4. I'd be all over that Eagle.
  5. A 4.0 and auto would be best, and depending on your tires/traction you may want bring some extra weight to put in the bed if its allowed. NP 242?
  6. Most people don't know how to embed large photos in their ads, its easy really.
  7. No such thing as rust free in Charleston. Unless the truck immigrated there. But starting at 1.5k isn't too bad.
  8. :grrrr: What a maroon.
  9. Salty, but ARBs have magnetic plugs and recessed bolts (a must IMO) plus a dipstick to check levels, not that its critical to have one but a "nice to have".
  10. Here's a couple of starters.....doesn't have to be Jeep related....keep it going!
  11. Well said sir.
  12. Ah, see that. I think that's a sweet bumper, looks better than Protofabs IMHO.
  13. why not a wood stove? seems like a large area, concrete floors, and baseboards would take forever to get a little heat, not to mention the eletricity bill Dearborn or Jet heaters all the way.
  14. 47' CJ2A, 6? DJ5 (not sure of the year, I won't count this one) 50' CJ3A 51' CJ3A 74' CJ5 86' MJ 89' MJ 96' ZJ 98' ZJ I'm at 38.25. :wrench:
  15. Kinda looks like that fairlead is tilted forward in the pic, could just be the angle though. Also, what thickness, any support under the winch plate?
  16. This is important, more than most mortal men realize. I don't want to post my ideas prematurely off the cuff as this is serious business. I will come back to this man-cave issue after fasting and meditation.
  17. Congrats on your graduation!
  18. JP, I like those guys, funny and a healthy mix of most Jeeps. Though I kinda wish they'd showcase more Willys and military jeeps. I like looking at classic stock jeep every once in a while, there's nothing but beauty in a clean restored Gladiator, Waggy, Jeepster or WWII MB/GPW (or MJ!). If I see another $75,000 Wangler with an SBC and 40" tires it'll be too soon. Oh, and Thunder, those fancy sight windows are for the survivalist crowd, professionals know how many rounds they've shot and can tell how many are remaining by the weight of the mag - you silly goose. :D
  19. Leave more time for JY'ing, there's a lot of junk yards on your trip that are sure to hold MJs and I don't see it anywhere in the itinerary. Where's your priorities sir?
  20. True, but those new Overlands have truly fine interiors, IMO the finest 4x4 on the market, as well as near the very top for the luxury car market. I don't see how the Range Rover beat it for 4x4 of the year,,,,I think Jeep simply needs to meld the Overland and the SRT-8, or just give the Overland the SRT 6.1 and Quadra-Drive II then its untouchable by any auto maker's SUV. I'd have one but I just checked my wallet and I'm short about 48 grand.
  21.
  22. I think you'll be happier with the long arms because eventually you'll want them over the drop brackets. But the DPs are a good way to go too depending on what you'll be doing with the Jeep. Lots of info over in the build pages, also throughout the tech section...here's a link on CA lengths: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Sus ... _Chart.htm
  23. I've used shocks from a 95' F350, I believe they were rear shocks. Also, the rear sway bar links from the F350 are about two inches longer and have the right bends to work on the front of lifted XJ/MJ.
  24. Oh yeah, forgot about that. I lived near Olympia for a couple of years, we got nearly 100 days of continual rain one winter.
  25. I kinda like that brown. How bout some daylight shots.
