  1. Fellas, I've got a thrown disc in my back or something like that which is killing me, going to see the doc soon,,,,I also spent all day in pain swapping a 44RE out of a ZJ, so I guess I was having a bad Jeep day and was pissy...I apologize for my mean spirited comments which violated my own "always be a good dude no matter what philosophy"....and I admit, those cars are cool. - I just can't afford them.
  2. This guy is a master....http://haha.nu/consumerism/gadgets/youn ... al-models/
  3. Renix 4.0s do seem to take a slightly longer starter spin before they fire up as compare to a 4.0 HO. 4-5 seconds is kinda long though. My 89' however fires right up when I turn the key after one or two spins. Its all stock.
  4. I bought ACC replacement carpet once for an old Mustang, never again.....If you get ACC carpet, expect it to fade very quickly if the vehicle is stored outside (in a matter of a few months). I do not believe it is UV resistant at all. I also had a problem with the dye rubbing off on papers, clothing, or anything left laying on the carpet. ACC carpet is truly a bad product. I'd rather have faded and worn factory carpet than that junk.
  5. Well all you guys go off and buy your Audis and BMWs and Porches and whatever Eurotrash rides you think are cool, then move to Europe and stay there you pansies.
  6. Oh its all in fun and games sir, I mean no offense and certainly do not intend a personal insult ... but if you do get it, just don't let my MJ know where you keep it parked, because sometimes it gets a mind of its own and likes to go out and smash little Euro trash Bruno inspired pansy metro-sexual cars like that no matter how much they cost. Ooh and you got me on the doctor comment, I should have worded that better....dang it, I'm going to go watch Predator now and man up myself.
  7. Keep it Jeep gentlemen....for that price your well in the range of a used 07-08 SRT Grand, even a Viper. For god's sake why drop 40K when you can wheel a good used Viper or an SRT Grand for far less. An Audi/BMW, come on man, get serious, have you been on a strict diet of sappy green tea and European Farva beans? I know a local doctor who gives 20% off for sex changes, I'll see if I can send you a coupon. Man up sir!
  8. ...and before you put the new O2 sensor in, use a thread chaser to clean the threads, or at least a tap, then use anti-seize on the new O2 sensor threads.
  9. Why do I love my MJ: 10. Its not a Wrangler. 9. Its a truck and its a Jeep - at the same time no less! 8. Women way out of my league stare and drool over my manliness when I drive down main street in it, but I pay no mind. Sometimes, they pull up their shirts and yell, "throw me your beads!", but those chicks just don't get it. When I'm driving my MJ, carnal pleasures do not excite me because I am officially on a higher metaphysical plane of manliness where nothing (except seeing another MJ) tempts me in my rolling 4x4 cult of coolness. It also has the same effect on passengers. Ernest Hemingway could have never dreamed up a more manly vehicle. 7. My bench press goes up 20 lbs and my beard gets thicker every time I simply look at it. 6. Since owning an MJ, my sperm count has been off the charts - doctor confirmed! 5. If you are a legal MJ owner, you get to take your MJ to heaven with you when you die. Its true, its in the old testament somewhere. 4. Since its an older vehicle, a truck, and a Jeep, every time you drive an MJ, you piss off a tree-hugging, Prius driving, frappuccino sipping, city park occupying neo-hippie somewhere. 3. ...and this is an important one...running over stuff is always better in an MJ! 2. You need not read a library full of books of Zen, you need not traverse the ten thousand steps to a temple on cloud obscured Tibetan mountain, you need not spend your life pouring tea in an Ashram, to find true enlightenment, you only need to sit in your MJ with eyes closed. Then the spirits of Steve McQueen and John Wayne will visit you, smile and invite you to wheel with them in Heaven. and the number one reason I love my MJ..... 1. Because on Comanche Club I get to put a dancing banana in my posts! Thanks Pete!
  10. I do not believe you can go to 5 x 4.5" due to the inner diameter, but you can redrill the waggy shafts and rotors to 5 x 5.5" and use CJ wheels, or depending on the year of waggy axles, you can just mount Ford 5 x 5.5" hubs and rotors. Several companies sell brackets, check MORE, I know they have em.
  11. I agree with all before, check carefully for cracks though especially on top of the main leaf under the u-bracket bolt. That bolt will actually wear down the top of the main leaf creating a weak spot. Happens over years of heavy use though, not on one load. If you get new springs and heavy hauling is in your future I'd look for military wraps.
  12. What about the clutch is driving you nuts? Chatter, shaking, burning smell, slipping and inconsistent RPMs, not disengaging? How many miles on this clutch kit and slave? I'm not an expert but there are plenty on here. Describe the symptoms and I bet the experts can help narrow it down before you get dedicated to a tranny swap you may not need. Whether you go auto or keep a standard, potential problems still come with either transmission. Here's what comes to my mind.... Not disengaging, no other symptoms - most likely the slave is weak maybe the master as well, while the clutch, PP, flywheel and pilot bearing/bushing are possibly okay. Are you leaking fluid any where? Check the firewall to see if its dripping from the master, check the entire line carefully, the plastic line near the exhaust can get burned or warped and cause a small crack, any fluid draining out of the bottom of the bellhousing? How's the peddle pressure? How far in the pedal travel before the clutch begins to disengage? How much remaining pedal travel after the clutch is disengaged? Do you have to stomp it to the floor to shift gears? Do you have to pump it to build pressure? Shaking on take-off - could be a worn pilot bushing or worn input shaft bearing on the transmission. I'm not sure of the spec off hand but whenever you get the transmission out check the endplay on the input shaft, its an indicator of remaining life of the transmission. If you don't have a dial indicator, use your redneck calipers (hands), if it shakes side to side like Shakira's booty it may be time for a rebuild, if it barely moves then that's a good sign. Burning smell, slipping - worn clutch disc, weak pressure plate.
  13. If you are relying on your odometer, it will be off with your tire size. Yes, the 31s will hurt your gas mileage, but I think its mainly the gears not matching the speedo. Its not that bad considering you said it was all city driving. Confirm it again with a GPS to measure actual distance driven divided by fuel, start with a full tank, drive, fill up again, do the calculation and see if its any different.
  14. That's a nice looking truck, I think I'd just lower the back to match the front. It looks sprung over which will put you at least 5-6" higher. You can go back to sprung under and get some 3" or 4" MJ lift springs from Hell Creek, Motion, a couple of others, or go to the JY and pull various Cherokee and Dakota springs which are flatter and effectively lower the rear. Post up a couple of pictures of your front suspension so we can see exactly what you've got going on under there.
  15. Thought I'd give a shout out to Marcus' build (from Down Under) merging a Willys truck and a WK, its nice work. If you don't know him, I bet you'd recognize his GoJeep XJ mod site. http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43454
  16. Congrats.
  17. Good video. I'd done quite a bit of it recently on my two old CJ3As. Depending on how much juice you pump through the solution it will take just about everything off, paint, gunk, rust, everything except the metal. Vinegar will work also but much slower, I keep a gallon of it and toss small parts, bolts etc in it. Diluted Molasses also does the job, I believe it forms a phosphate, the common ingredient in off the shelf rust removal products.

  19. Treklight, I can't respond to your email, send me a pm. But yes, the RK triple threat system will go right on after you cut the LCA mounts off....then you'll need a 5/8" drill bit, everything else will bolt on. That is unless they've changed the design.
  20. 96' was the change year for OBD II, no surprise there. 96' is nothing special for parts, all 92' and later HO parts will work, there was an intake change and other slight changes later on. That red/black paint scheme did not go over well at all. Those stickers and flat tire make it look like a drunken fat girl with a really bad Panama City license plate. Which make me question the other mods. Not to mention the seller's complete lack of punctuation and obvious lack of intelligence. Yes, if he/she can't write a complete sentence, spell or use punctuation correctly at least 75% of the time, then they're a moron and should be avoided. Be wary of dealing with dumb people even it it looks like a good deal because this guy is obviously a moron. Things I would ask about prior to purchase are in bold: "I have a red/black (is it red on black or black on red I really can't tell) 96 jeep Cherokee with a 6 1/2in lift (what lift, homemade or by who) 33/12.50/15 bfg all terrains (get an actual measurement of remaining tread, not a guess like "its got good tread about 80% remaining, if there's no measurement, then count on it being less than 40-50% and you'll need to replace them soon) have has sye kit (Hack and Tap or what kind, potentially the best item on the jeep if its a good one), with tom woods rear driveshaft and catco (?) front, steel braided brake lines, new ball joints (upper/lower or all four) ,power steering, tie rod ends beefey track bar (not "beefey" according to the picture, looks stock to me),locker in rear (what type???), new tranny lines b&m tranny cooler, 3 core raditaor (its spelled "radiator") new belt water pump head lights fuel pump brand new windshield, bushwacker fenders, jet performance chip header with flowmaste 44 muffler truck has 200k (No, how much exactly and has it been apart?) on a inline 6 still runs like a champ changed oil every 4k with castrol and lucas (means nothing) Lucas in Front/rear diffs t-case tranny engine and gas 4/4low work great has some rust (some rust usually means a lot of rust) fully gutted ("fully gutted" means the interior probably looks like a blend of mashed mule excrement and chicken droppings) ready for wheeling needs an alternator and tire will start (Probably won't start if it needs an alternator or if it does it will leave you stranded on the way home) runs Also comes with an extra tranny (what year, what kind) and 2 superswampers (what kind, how much tread, why would you pay to get rid of someone elses junk tires, it costs money to recycle tires so its easier to include them with the sale as if he's doing you the favor) have no time for wheeling anymore looking to sell asap asking 1250 you can't find a cheaper trail rig and winters coming e-mail for more pics need to sell asap ----- Big question, if he just put all this "new" stuff on it which would obviously cost more than $1250, then why is he asking far less than the mods he put on the Jeep? I would suspect that this stuff isn't really new at all. These add ons are probably very beat and worn. Seriously, avoid dumb people, they will only make you dumber.
  21. I feel dumber now.
  22. That's what you get for letting your brother drive a Buick .
  23. Thought I'd pass this along from MiliJeepers in case some of you whiskey makers up there are interested. "Ok all those of you that Wheel in TN. The following site is for a Petition that we are signing to try to keep this land open for Wheelin. please sign the petition if you want to keep these lands open to our use as Jeepers. Aetna is just south of Chattanooga and is a great place to wheel at and is host to some of the W.E.Rock events. They are talking about closing the park to off-roading and making it 100% hunting only. please sign this petition to keep it open to us wheelers" http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/kee...ain-tennessee/
