  1. Someone added it on, but it's missing the frame tie in brackets. Probably not original to the truck, it was also installed with normal hex fasteners instead of Torx bolts.
  2. Brother Rob is up to his old tricks again.
  3. I may be exaggerating for entertainment purposes on everything except the price.
  4. Mike, Great job, this is the nicest MJ I've seen.
  5. So I finally scored a Ramsey PTO for my CJ3A, it was way over in East Texas... Now on the way over to get the PTO, I was cruising along at 70 mph and my Jeeper's Spidey senses started to tingle, then immediately off on a side road I spotted an MJ with a factory roll bar. I stopped and chatted with the fellow for a while, we hit it off,,,and to make a long story short, he gave me the truck for free. I insisted that I pay him something for it but he was adamant, and I eventually agreed to take it. I went and got a Uhaul car dolly and came back and loaded it up...I did at least pay him a 6-pack of Guinness. The funny thing is, he said it had sat there for three years and no one had ever asked about it. But 20 minutes before I pulled up, he said someone else had just stopped by and looked at it and ironically, it was my good friend, the one we all know and love, otherwise known as "Backdraft". Here's our conversation.....(warning: quoted statements are not guaranteed to be entirely accurate). After I went and picked up the PTO, I got a text from Mike, saying, "Hey dude, I just found an MJ with a factory rollbar on Hwy 79". I replied, "yeah, is the this the blue one, 2wd, missing a tailgate, bad door hinges, runs decent, and has a roll bar" Mike: "yeah, you've been out this way?" Me: "yup, I just talked to the guy, he just gave it to me" Mike: "what?" Me: "Yeah, he gave it to me" Mike: "You're kidding me, he told me 500 bones" Me: "Nope, he gave it to me" Mike: "No way!" Me: "Yeah, He gave it to me" Mike: "What the heck?" Me: "That's right loser, He gave it to me!!!!" Mike: "No way!" Me: "Yup, its mine. Towing it home now! What'dya think of that? HAHAHAHA!" Mike: "You suck!" Me: "Ha Ha!" Then in a completely uncalled for fashion, he sends me this.. Mike: "You're a jerk!" Me: "Yup, he just up and gave it to me!, what do you think about that?" Mike: "You're a (@$& ^@#*__$#" Me: "Yup, I sure am, but I've got a free MJ and you don't! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Me: "Hey Mike, just got it to the house, check it out!!!! Mike: No more replies.....         Sorry Mike, had to....love ya brother! :D
  6. Its funny, several years ago I went and looked at the Jeep on the far left, the failed Crawler. It was way out near Pueblo IIRC, but the owner wouldn't come off of 1K so I passed on it. Glad you got it though.

    E-Cigs

I equate those to light beer and decaf coffee. No thanks. Although I don't smoke cigarettes because they stink IMO. Also, all cigarettes are machine made garbage from the clippings swept off the floor of real cigar shops. I suggest upgrading to a decent real cigar....like these: http://www.jrcigars.com/jr/index.cfm/hu ... do%29.html Onyx are good smokes! Also, the JR Cuban alternatives are some of the best cheap cigars out there. Lots of good Dominicans and Hondurans out there.....Actual Cubans are overrated nowadays, can't count the number of crappy Cohibas I've tried.
  8. Another article,,,,the more hype the better I guess, even if it doesn't happen. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2012/03/ ... p=features
  9. Umm it depends on what I'm currently obsessing on, cigar boxes for guitars, 6-string guitars, tools, Jeeps, Jeep parts, Boxing gear, memorabilia and books on boxing, Years ago I collected every Iron Maiden album - on CD, almost every one on LP, about 10 picture discs, several posters and other stuff, still have my I'm poster that I hung in my 8th grade locker, Older Literature Only - Thomas Hardy, Joyce, other poets writers etc, I have boxes upon boxes of books. Two best are a first edition "Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand and a first edition "Mayor of Castorbridge" by Hardy. I can't read pop fiction at all, usually if its on the NY Times best seller list, I pass. The current obsession is chickens, got about 30-35 now, also just picked up a 12 lb Buff Orpington, he's huge and he's mean as hell too, attacks me every time I try to feed him. I'm also picking up two Phoenix roosters, a red and a golden in a couple of days. I think I'm about to get into small tractors soon, I was salivating over a Kubota 185 the other day.
  10. Just makin a funny,
  11. Unimogs are the offroad kings in the Europa, but I'd rather have the American (and yet better Jeep) counterpart.
  12. I'd sell a kidney to have one of those!
  13. Its ironic you wrote that Terra, I had something similar happen to my MJ. Yeah, I was going to visit a girl I know in Jersey. Decided to make the long drive in the MJ, I got in and cranked it up. The MJ was running sweeter than a honeybun, then as soon as put the Jersey address in the GPS, it started backfiring badly and refused to go into any gear, I started yanking on the shifter and it broke off in my hand, then suddenly and all at once the clutch line blew, accelerator and brake pedals broke off, side view and rear view mirrors fell off, the windows fell off the rollers down into the doors, it blew every fuse and died. I fixed it all but when I tried to get back in the doors were locked and my keys were still in the ignition and the e-brake was frozen to the floor. I swear every word of that is true. :D
  14. I think that's a mid 70s 5. Wrong roll bar, too thin and looks bolted to the top of the rear fender wells. Raised "Jeep" lettering on the front fenders, same side marker lights, looks like my 74.
  15. Texas authorized personal plates from a private company - myplates.com. You can design your own plates, order them and update your registration. I'll get them eventually, just haven't made my mind up on what I want yet. I was playing with the website and made the avatar, it's my top choice so far.
  16. Did a little work with the MJ today. We hauled about 20 of these old RR ties back to the house. They're freakin heavy! We're gonna use them as a garden perimeter. Then, we set up a new American flag.

  18. oh well, life goes on and they're plenty more out there for ya.
  19. Personally I think three years is a long time for any battery, AGM - wet cell or whatever. Any battery that lasts over three years is decent in my book. Only the elite batteries last longer.......and no battery I've ever owned has gone more than 5-6 years max.
  20. x2 Yes, check these first.
  21. You can also add a radiator hose cap from a Durango, keep your current rad and have an open system, sort of. But I think your temps are normal, with an aux fan mine still gets hot when slow idling/wheeling. Also, check out hornbrod's set up, its sweet. I'm pretty sure its in the DIY section.
  22. I've become a fan of Optimas. Especially since working with a guy that was QA with the original company prior to Optima that designed them. He said he took a 12 year old battery back to the QA department to have it cut open and inspected, said it was just like new inside after all those years. But, I'm starting to have my doubts as to their recent QC, seems some people don't have good luck with them. I still have Optimas...But I've had a few red tops crap out on me, so I traded those in on yellow tops. I've still got one red top now that has a hole in it that I patched with RTV and its still going strong, I've drained and recharged it countless times. In all my rigs, I've got yellow tops, no problems with the YTs at all. Last year on a road trip my MJ's alternator crapped out and I drove 60 miles at night with the headlights on, it was raining, had the wipers on full blast and a stereo system with a 600w amp cranked up loud. No sweat, the yellow top didn't flinch, still had 11v when I made it to an auto parts store. My fool brother swears by Interstates, :dunno: Others bet the farm on Odyssey, or heavy equipment batteries. Just wondering wondering what you guys run.
  23. Ooh, Searchtempest found the Koenig model 51 PTO I need for my 3A. Only one in the country for sale....in FL, $475 is pretty salty though! I can get a whole Jeep for that. Jim probably has a dozen gross he's hiding in his barn. http://gainesville.craigslist.org/pts/2852231864.html
  24. Yeah the Wrangler J8 is kinda bad, small cab, small bed. The FC would be the best way to maximize available chassis space and have a decent bed but I doubt they'll be able meet safety requirements with an FC design.
  25. Nice truck, tires are too small though. I think you'll get haggled over those and perhaps the clutch if its starting to get weak.
