Anone here the administration of Jeep Comanche on Facebook
87Warrior replied to pitbull4x4's topic in The Pub
I always thought Rob ran the Comanche page. Maybe it's another one, I don't know as I really don't follow those types of groups closely. -
Death Wobble After Hitting Potholes
87Warrior replied to dcramer67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Trackbar bushing at either end is my guess. -
I had my Superwinch remote stolen out of my topless TJ. Now I run a wireless remote/fob that stays on my key chain and I have incab controls. I use the heck out of the incab control and have never used the wireless remote on the trail.

235/75r15 at the time. It's important to remember these old Jeep motors run like a Singer around 2300 RPM. Is there a reason why you wish to drop the cruising RPM with your 2.5? You don't mention 4 or 5 speed, but I assume you have a 5 speed. I can't foresee any benefit on a stock truck as I feel these trucks were under geared from the start.

Had them in my 86 with a 5speed. (wasn't the stock transmission) 5th gear was totally worthless. Keep in mind, I am in Kansas too.

Mini-Blue88Comanche - Axial SCX10

Looking good! I have to ask, why did you paint the inside then the outside of the shell? -
Consider 2x4 if you want to stay incognito :) Or don't want a ledge to collect mud or ice under the door.

The only time I ever use a donut is in the garage. They are the perfect size to wheel around an axle to work on it. I have full sized spares in everything along with a plug kit and small 12v compressor. Sometimes it's just easier to plug it versus dropping the spare. Since I spend the extra coin for 5 tires, I do a 5 tire rotation as well.

Chrysler 8.25 disc brake swap
87Warrior replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
And just for clarification this is a picture of a XJ proportion valve, NOT a plugged MJ distribution block :) I know it can get very confusing when looking at these types of pictures for the first time. -
rccrawler.com has an great forum I like RPP Hobby, Tower Hobbies, Fast Eddy Bearings and Amazon for parts. If you have a good local hobby shop go in there and start asking questions as well. Generally the hobby shop and online distributors are priced similarly in my experience.

Correct, the '86 has a smaller diameter hole than the later model. Most manufacturers don't know this. But that shouldn't be the problem unless the OP accidentally bought an '86 mount that was swapped on a '95. I can put the micrometer to the '86 mount I pulled off my truck if you'd like. My guess is the taper on the track bar end is smashed so it's not seating in the mount correctly.

You get what you pay for the service. I really don't like how the world is gearing everything for Facebook and the like. My biggest gripe is the lack of organization. But hey, if you want a free marketplace it's an option at the right price.

The ProLine MJ body is nice. I ran one for years and beat it into the ground and rolled it down mountains (literally). Get the floor pan as well to keep trail grime out of the interior and off the motor/transmission, especially if you like water/mud. The Honcho is a fantastic truck. It looked like hell so I just recently replaced the body with a second-hand Deadbolt body. I really like the narrowed front and rear body over the full width MJ body. I also replaced the old Axial AE2 ESC with a new AX5 LiPo compatible ESC and it caught fire. That was fun.

Cooper Discoverer A/T3 Tires
87Warrior replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I never knew Discount Tire had an online store. I must admit that I don't see anything that resembles a substantial savings on their web store, only a $75 prepaid Visa card...and a $60 visa if purchased with their credit card. I've been screwed out of 'rebates' before and don't trust the process. Hats off to you if it works! You did good convincing me to stop procrastinating about tires Don ;) I am going to stop by my tire guy this afternoon and see what he can do for me. So far he has been able beat any deal I could find. -

That is a bargain! Did you get the SUV or Light Truck tire? -
Cooper Discoverer A/T3 Tires
87Warrior replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Labor day sale???? Hmmm ;) The AT3 is a nice tire. You will like them. I put AT3's on my 86 rust bucket (265/75r15) and liked them so much, I put them on my Land Cruiser this year (265/75r16). The MJ has the STD load SUV tire while the Cruiser has the Load Range E Light Truck tire. I cannot hear the tire under the Cruiser at all and certainly not under MJ. I have found the AT3 to stick well to wet or dry pavement and it tracks straight. Unlike some tires, it doesn't seem to be be 'steered' by road conditions. The AT3 is a very unassuming tire that will surprise. I would love to check out the ATP, but I don't even know where a Discount Tire store is located in my area. In 2008 I bought my first set of Cooper tires for my TJ, the STT. At the time Cooper wasn't real popular among Jeep people as they were still new in the off road market. That set of tires is now at 53k miles on the TJ and need replaced, but have been exceptional since day one. I think that is great mileage out of an abused mud tire on a Wrangled. For the replacement, I will be going with Cooper again since I've had such good luck. The problem I am having is picking a tire...they have too many options nowadays! -
You know your truck better than us. If you are comfortable with it, DO IT. I had a lot of conversations with folks last year as I drove my ugly truck across Colorado. I'd have absolutely no reservations taking my rusted 190k mile '86 cross country.... well, the radio struggles, the blower motor wails, and it doesn't have AC.

In addition to the bell housing, make sure you get the fork and bearing retainer. My 86 2.5 sports a 96 XJ bell housing and fork along with an unknown year bearing retainer. Master, hose and slave are for a 95 XJ and the throwout bearing was a Mopar I had bought for an 03 TJ. This MJ has a much better clutch feel than my TJ which I have owned since 03.

I once saw a Maserati. It was stuck in the same traffic jam I was. I really don't get excited about exotic cars. Never have. Show me a factory condition 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window with the 327 Ram Jet in Daytona Blue with Saddle leather interior and I will get excited :)

How much damage is there to the cab structure? I have a parts truck that has straight sheet metal where not rusted away and would be willing to cut away what you need. Would be good for patching, sorry the frame has rotted through. Located in Central Kansas, but willing to meet.

need some help finding parts
87Warrior replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not off the top of my head. I usually carry stuff like that into the store with me and try the various sizes until something fits. Make sure you don't get bolts that are too long, there isn't much room between the yoke and transfercase. -

87Warrior replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For the axle end, go to your local auto parts store and buy the cheapest u joint available for the TJ axle. The u joint will come with straps and bolts. At the transfer case end, stop by your local hardware store and buy bolts. -
I'd buy it :)
