Ok....... one last thought Can you list or post a picture of the type of rims and tires you have on the front (the size of the tire and the rim)........ and do you have any lift (a picture would be great....but a complete description would help)
-
My question X2.......If it goes away when you accelerate over 45.....the tire balance would be the first place I would look.... :dunno:
-
It was -50 C yesterday.....that is -58 F in your language.....we laid under the truck in the drive and replaced the CPS (bare handed) and gave it an oil change (had to run the motor for awhile to get the oil to flow). You can't have it worse than that........
-
If you have "FLEX" now and not before.....Whatever was "POPPING" is now BROKE..... Try this.....you will need a helper a jack and 2 jack stands. 1) With the helper behind the wheel, lay under the front of the truck on the passenger side and have your helper turn the wheel from full lock to full lock 4 times.....Watch look and listen for broken hanging pieces....listen for noises like popping or rubbing or grinding 2) Go under the drivers side and do the same thing 3)Block the back wheels and jack the front of the truck up and put your jack stands UNDER THE FRAME so that the front end hangs un-sprung 4) repeat steps 1 and 2 Report Back with you findings

Molded Heater Hose For 2.5L Intake Manifold?
yxmj replied to Comanchemodder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your Correct 64..the front of the 2.5 and 4 share a lot....Water pumps are even interchangeable......only thing you have to watch is type of belts from the factory.......the 2 v belt set-up spins the other way ....most parts stores will ask you if it is a serpentine belt when you buy just for that rerason. Comanchemodder....can't tell from the picture .....is the outlet of the housing cast in or threaded in?? If threaded you could take it off and turn in a 90* outlet to help with the hose routing -
Another cheap trick is ....if you are removing the springs yourself in the JY....remember to take the spring isolater as well.....they are +/- 1/2" so you can stack them or add them as needed to get that extra 1/2" needed.....even if just to level out the truck

My wife had been experiencing the dreaded CPS failed symptoms….stalling and hard starts….so she asked me to drive her XJ to see for myself ( I had already listened to her complaints and the new CPS was ordered from e-bay and on the bench)…..but still wanted to see for myself. Drove for 2 days and nothing …..ran and started good every time. So I looked back on the days she had problems and noticed they always happened on sloppy snow days….could that have something to do with it?? As well when looking down from above on the sensor I could see that the back od the valve cover was “recycling” oil for me and the bell housing and CPS were coated in oil and grim?????? HMMMMM???? Yesterday finally on the way home from NAPA it happened ……stumble…..stumble……stall…… 3 or 4 attempt to restart and nothing then the thunderbolt… :rock on: ….(like I said on my way back from NAPA)….went into the bag pulled out a can of carb cleaner I had gotten for another project (ice auger) put on the straw….lifted the hood and gave the CPS a few blasts…I could see grime fly off immediately…..reached my hand in and turned the key….she fired right up like a champ. 125 Kms and multiple starts and stops later (now the next day) and not a hiccup…..(WAS IT JUST DIRTY??) Not saying it is the end all/cure all…….but might get you home on a cold wet night. HAPPY NEW YEAR :Canadaflag:

You need an off site host (I use photo Bucket)......then when on your host click a copy of the link and when you are posting here click on the picture icon....a box will pop up were you paste the direct link and BAM.....pictures

Do you still have the cross member in ? If so take it out and your angle can be increased to give you more clearance. (I am speaking here of course with the trans attached.....if just the motor going in..... drop your rear drive shaft and move the trans back for more room)

Wheel Bearing Or U Joint?
yxmj replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is a bit labor intensive but it is how i have taught myself to check.... Remove tire take off caliper and hang it out of the way Take off rotor and (use washers if needed) flip it around reverse and put the lugs back on now you have a way to spin the bearing 360 while at the same time twist on the rotor with your hands taking the bearing right around to check for any play. The reversed rotor makes play more noticeable Even the slightest play is multiplied by the time it moves all the way out to the edge of the tire. PS..1)...is seems a bit early for a bad bearing....if only 4 years old .......2) every bearing I blew announced itself somewhat with a discernable lean in of the tire at the top... :dunno: just my 2.....(hey were is the cents sign on a computer??)- 7 replies

2 Wheel Drive To 4 Wheel Drive Conversion
yxmj replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
2.5 tranny will not bolt up to a 2.8......you would need an adapter -
I do not know if this would be helpful to you but i see no mention of it here so i will bring it up. I have changed many injectors both individually (in XJ's the #3 is known for cooking because of the heat shield) and as an upgrade (4 holes in mine for throttle response and a little more pep) When I put them in I carefully coat the o-ring with a slight film of petroleum jelly.....never had a problem with a single or a full rail....they always just popped in and fired up first try...for what it is worth :dunno:

With the lights the first thing I would check is make sure all your grounds are good (look on here there is a post from a guy who is very knowledgeable on how to check and refresh the grounds) The pulley is a puzzler....since you say you changed it.....because with the way you describe it (quite when oiled then back to squealing) it sounds like a fried bearing.....but :dunno: -
6 of this= a half dozen of that The newer axle will have the larger axle shafts and slightly bigger bearings.....but you will have to change the spring perch location (assuming you are keeping the SUA configuration) If you are familiar with it a gear swap is fairly straight forward.....especially if the diff is out of the truck and easy to work on.... :wrench:
-
  2 thumbs up.... A bit of grinding or filing on a bolt with a 1/2" shank would give you a square end that you could use a wrench on :dunno:
-
10 MM If you do not have access to a 10mm extension you might be able to find the right size in "key stock" and use an adjustable wrench on the end

Amen on that. My son (with the first wife @ 23 years years old when we had him), was always easy. He loved sports as I did, and a baseball glove, football, hockey skates or similar were all he wanted. At 41, second wife, we had two girls. They both inherited their mother's love of jewelry, so they were easy too. Just more expensive. :offtopic: .....You play Hockey in Alabama? Now Back on Topic....mine are now 23 and 21....the boy is 17.....for the girls you can't miss with clothing ......Just don't pick it out yourself......ask one of the friends or a female acquaintance.....and beware.....for some reason they do not think camo is a color :???:
