1986 2.5 with AX4 clutch problem
yxmj replied to Jeepjeff859's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you still have the old master ? Pull the rod out max and measure the rod from the lip of the cylinder to the center of the hole....do the same on your new one. I have changed and rebuilt masters but newer come across a rod that was a noticeable 1" different. -
If you want to get crazy come up to Canada....On the east coast there is a little provence called Nova Scotia....They have a contest every year.... http://www.worldsbiggestpumpkins.com/ But the best part is after you get a bunch of Giant Pumpkins together .....you hollow them out like boats.....then you race them.... An Idea that probably results from long winter nights and strong beer

I never did it but I watched a show were the guy on the east coast was growing 1000 lb pumpkins every year and he watered it with milk.....

A couple very noob questions
yxmj replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well you are asking 2 questions? But I will try......You would be best to use the sensor that comes with the aftermarket gauge. The Factory one would be calibrated to be used by your PCM....I would think it would be a long shot that it would send the required signal to an aftermarket gauge. Look Up the Thread By Hornbrod.....I followed His advice and it works perfectly.......it is better to mount the sensor for the fan (if you have to choose a spot to mount it) in the lower return line of the rad.....you would get your best heat info there. -
Removal of old vinyl "hockey sticks"
yxmj replied to madmax's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ask about and Google a product called "Jet Glaze" I have used it in the past with great results. (NOTE.....Jet Glaze is a brand put out by AC Delco.....you should be able to cross reference comparables available in your area) -

If so after removal there are many products that will blend in the covered and uncovered.....UV exposure is the only enemy -

Removal of old vinyl "hockey sticks"

I have had great success with this.....especially on old stripes that are broken up so heating and pulling is a monumental task.. http://www.amazon.com/3M-Stripe-Wheel-Mandrel-Diameter/dp/B00063VT0G Here is a vid of the same type product in action -
I try to grow one every year.....I always get prestarted seedlings of the "goliath" strain.... 2 funny stories In order to get the biggest you are supposed to pay attention and let the vines spread out and bloom then once they start to bloom pinch off the smaller ones so that all the effort goes to the one you leave...allowing it to grow to MAX......second year I did it (because it sends out long trailing vines, and I was not paying attention) the vine climbed the fence and the best bloom happened to be on the vine that crossed over he top of the fence......long story short I ended up building a platform to support it and grew a 89 lb pumpkin....6 feet in the air. A few years later I was working out of town so my better half was in charge.....when ever I came back I would encourage her to water them more as they did not seem to be growing.....after 4 months when I returned and checked them out i was confused.....I had about 30 perfectly formed perfectly colored "pumpkins"......all the size of a large apple....I immediately started searching in the dirt for the small plastic spear with the name and best growing conditions that comes in the box with the seedlings....i found it right at the base of the main plant were i had stuck it in when I planted it....i pulled it out and it immediately came apart in my hand.....reveling that the "Goliath" tag was stuck to ta tag for 4" "Gourds" ........she reminds me of that from time to time

Well to be honest.....I could not identify her face.......

You would have to change the "U" shaped brackets to an MJ style like theses Take a moment and seach the site..If i remember corectly.....someone has posted a template with dimensions for the cuts and bolt holes.
-
Maybe Incommando could do us all a favor.....(if he actually has a jeep on the road)..... and post a pic of his mj air intake.....it of course is unaltered and totally factory, baffle door intact and operational.....cuz that is all he would need. Maybe we can all learn from the master.....

Rear brake load sensing valve question
yxmj replied to 87MJJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
 :clapping: Or if he wants to go the extra yard you can buy/fab one that is close to factory,,,,,,IMHO if your box still works set it up correctly and let it work for you -

My fire breathing 28 year old 2.5 liter engine demands air.....so I gave it easy access to it.......The MJ Loves it. . :MJ 1: . Come back in another 12 Days and tell us how more spark is bad....and how running higher octane clean fuel is detrimental.....maybe how having the correct air pressure in your tires is a bad thing or changing your oil is unnecessary.......
-
So then do not mod your air box Jethro........Still no proof from you that adding air is detrimental (that means bad) Again for those who think that more air would be helpful....If you feel that more air would be beneficial to you motor...Here is a thread on how I ALLOWED MORE AIR INTO MY AIR BOX. . :MJ 1: . If you feel that you do not need it or will not benefit from it DO NOT DO IT.
-
Since I started the thread I will finish it. My intent was to ( read back on the first post) allow people who like myself believe that allowing a motor easy access to air that it does not have to work for, is beneficial to the motor. If you can do it cheap and easy in your own spare time why not try to get benefits from it. :dunno: If you think it is not beneficial to allow more air into your air box then don’t waste your time with the mod. Like I said earlier on in the thread….it cost me nothing to do it….even if I got a gain of ¼ of a HP or another 1/5 of a MPG to me, over the thousands of miles I drive, it is worth it. . :MJ 1: . I have seen no augment that says otherwise. Please anyone show us all how more air into the motor is a bad thing.... :hmm: The only actual legitimate augment that can be conceded here is the one of if on the off chance you were to be in a situation that water was deep enough to enter your air box it could get sucked into the engine and cause hydro lock. So what to guys who regularly get themselves in that situation do to prevent hydro lock…..what is their remedy? The snorkel it….they add a modification that ensures that the motor has a more than adequate supply of clean cool air……novel Idea…… :brows:
-
No allowing a motor easier access to air is not beneficial in any way.......proven fact.
-
Ain't that the truth. What are you suggesting by this......that the factory air box does not allow the motor to perform to its maximum capabilities? That it is garbage? That it needs to be revised in some way?
-
Getting back to the original XJ overhead console....It has the same drop down sun glass holder as they use in the ad....so you could have a factory jeep console with that added in  Image Not Found
-
That would be silly....you have proven to all of us that allowing more cool air into your engine is a very bad idea and that all those racers are wasting their time adding hood scoops or any type of fresh air induction.....that is just bad for the motor. Common sense would tell anyone that allowing an internal combustion motor easy access to fresh cool air is clearly plain stupidity. Thanks for clearing that up
-
This is nice....IMHO
-
Good for you....it only took you 12 days for that come back......you sure told me..... :clapping: But you are correct....For all you CC Members out there.....restrict the air flow to your engine....adding more cool air to your engine will not increase it's efficiency in any way. It is a proven fact!

The mini console is a factory option in an XJ (I do not know what years....I have 2 both in 1998s) The funniest thing that has always stuck me....it shows the mileage/ direction/temp....and even has a trip duration timer.......but you can't make it display time like a clock :hmm: If you happen to find one you would need the harness that runs down the passenger side window pillar and the temp sender from behind the rad....I would also strongly assume that it would need to be OBDII
