  1. My main point, MJ are getting fewer and further between, hard to replace. XJs on the other hand....
  2. Been on motorcycles my whole life, dirt bikes when I was young then the grey years of Japanese bikes, (liked the hot rod SR 500 the most), then Harley Davidson the last ten years....
  3. Was looking at a red MJ that used to be very nice looking, Now?...well....not so much any more.... Difference between an XJ and a MJ is that an XJ could, and should be thrashed because it is replaceable. An MJ should be built and wheeled taking into consideration its rarity and value. (Not easily replaced) My 2 MJs are built as a labor of love, would never thrash or abuse them. I plan on never selling them... my 2c...
  4. 3 years later...Really? Naw just kiddin, it was gone in the spring after the road became passable for a wrecker with minimal effort. There are people around here that make a living on scrappin cars, it's kind of a shady business we were talkin about this the other night over dinner, seems that people have had cars taken from their yards when they weren't home, another guy ran out of gas....when he got back with gas, his car was gone....scrappers got it. Did or do the cops do anything about it :rotf:
  5. Thanks all for the input
  6. If the XJ seats have the "rocking chair" feature, they will be too high in an MJ unless you remove the rocking chair part of the mechanism. Can this be done? Got pics?
  7. If you have electrical issues it could very well be the root cause of your idle issues. An ECU needs stable values from all the sensors to work properly.
  8. When I got the Chief, the interior was bad, matter of fact the whole truck was.... http://comancheclub.com/topic/16700-100-88-mj-megan-joy/
  9. My Lame Deer ride is a "Comanche Chief" most people think it is a BA truck
  10. Aint askin HOW, just needed the specs, but thanks for the info.
  11. Did a 4" drop on my 91 S-10, spindles in the front, blocks in the back. 2.5 and 5 speed I now want to take it the alignment shop that is 100+ miles away. Can anybody give me the alignment specs so I can have it in the ballpark for the trip? Caster Camber Toe
  12. Did you clean the throttle butterfly? adjust the throttle position sensor with a multimeter?
  13. I count 7 Comanches, and numerous Cherokees on or near my rez, insensitive, I doubt it. Only thing anybody ever says about them which is synonymous with the Jeep name is "Bad @$$"
  14. Good luck finding one of those... Another "one of those parts"
  15. I'd own it, it would be my "red headed step child" but yellow I'd love care and defend it like any parent would because it was an MJ. I'd show it off to my friends and say things like "Shhhhh....it doesn't know its ugly" I'd have paternity papers from the PO saying I had nuthin to do with its inception....
  16. Check the blimp behind the bumper, trace all your lines looking for leaks. Buy a cigar, blow smoke into vacuum lines, plug manifold ends, look for escaping smoke.... or blow smoke into the end where it comes off of the manifold.
  17. If I was rich...and money wasn't an object... which would I choose...definitely the OD rag top pick - up  Bout makes me want to cry cause I know I'll never be rich and I'll never get to own that truck.
  18. Just don't use the clutch as a hill holder  best way of burning out a clutch that I know of second is riding the clutch, burns out the Throw Out Bearing, both baaaadd... Clutch should be in or out as much as possible with your foot on the floor as much as possible between shifts. Nuther bad habit...resting your hand on the shifter, causes wear on the slider forks, rails, whatever...
  19. I bought a universal from Summit racing, I've heard of people using Mountain dew bottle or old oil jug. Improvement: don't have to rely on a mass of hoses and a questionable plastic cap to maintain pressure in the system. Last Jeep I bought, had a new water pump, paid $100 for the jeep, PO said it had bad head gasket... the black tape on the pressure bottle told me otherwise... Highly recomend an open conversion whichever way you choose to do it.
  20. Pulled a minivan on a car dolly about 40 miles. Definately should have had some extra weight in the bed of the truck. At one point was going about 65 mph and nearly started waggin the dog scared $#!& outa me....
  21. :rotf: Seriously, you are overtaxing the truck pulling a car and trailer. You need a biger truck to do it safely. If I had too... 4 wheel disks, big booster, trailer brakes... and here is the important part, trailer weight and tongue weight won't do a damn bit of good if the tractor is too light it can get away from you real easy no matter how much brakes you got. You need more weight IN THE TRUCK to keep control of the trailer, say another 500 lbs or more or like I said "you would be better off with a bigger truck"
  22. When I taught my daughter to drive I purposefully made her learn in the truck. Anybody can start stop with an auto, but when you can start uphill with a stick.... We would drive down dirt roads, I would make her do "panic stops" on an uphill then start over. Sadistic I know, but she drives a clutch today without even thinking how and she is only 14 1/2 yr old.
  23. Just looked at the Novak site, didn't realize the stock shift lever is retained, cool. Pics would be even better.
  24. I have a terralow 4:1 with 2low, going into the 87, do you have any pics of how the shifter goes through the floor and what did you use for a boot? Pretty sure I will be buying the cable kit because why stop now when the TC cost nearly a grand anyway?
