just to vent a bit. i have been having alot of health issues since november. i've posted about my heart in the past. i had 2 heart attacks, that they know for sure as i was in the hospital in '02. my heart has gotten worseover the years. i have a rare heart heart disease that i was born with well actually 2. anyway, i've been having so much trouble and been in and out of the doctors for the last few months. so it's now been decided my cardiomyopathy (week heart/damaged heart) has just gotten worse. i am also now in heart failure. i'm getting a bit stronger with some of the additional meds and getting a little better. man, i'm not sure how much more my body can take let alone my heart. it's going to be a long and slow recovery so i won't be doing much for awhile. i'll live though. i have 4 kids and a wife so i have too. ;) thanks for letting me complain

i worked in a higher level of the banking system for quite a few years so i have a decent understanding of it. alot of people think that having a 0 balance on a card or credit line is a good thing. not necessarily. some banks and others offering dredit lines look at it entirely differnt. they see that 0 balance as a potential impact. meaning, it may be 0 now, but the limit is there. that means if they give you credit because it appears that you can afford in financially, then you go and max out all you other credit lines to the available limit, you can't pay everything. sometimes having a high limit is bad. you may have 0 or 500 or 1000 balance on a card that has a 10000 limit, but you can still spend up to the 10000. for that reason many credit companies look at it as available balance or limit to rate it rather than a just "good he has a 0 balance". in most cases, it's best to use the card some and pay it offf each billing cycle. that still allows a 0 balance showing, but proves you pay ontime. each company can report a little different and it's wierd what actually get's reported. they don't always report an amount paid monthly, sometimes they just report an available balance, balance owing, and ontime payments. each time you apply for something, you get a ding because it shows you are looking for credit to use, especially if you're denied. remember to that any company offering almost anything financial. a bad check can show. a missed utility payment, phone payment, doctor bill, etc. even a personal loan from someone can be done by fileing a contract or bringing it in the court system. rent can also be reported in many situations as there is a contract to pay a specific amount on a regular schedule. because campanies can report a little differently, and mistakes are made, it is important to view your credit report regularly. the goverment does require you be given 1 credit report from each credit reporting agency a year as previously said so you don't need to pay online. you can alos go to a credit bureau in your area to pull a copy.. just keep in mind that each company that offers credit lines looks at the report a bit different. there is no rule about requireing them to give you credit. it's all up to the company. just an fyi, my credit is totally shot due to medical bills, i have no loans or credit cards.. unless i win the lottery, there is no way i will ever be able to pay the medical bills off. bankrupsty is a great option but the bills continue so filling right now doesn't really make sense. we just use cash.

Trying to figure out what to do??
brdhntr replied to tallon2064's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i agree. unless it's going to be incredibly out of your budget, i'd fix it. replacing a motor yourself isn't that horrible a job and you can usually find one cheap. if you are going to ditch it, try and find a jeeper to buy it rather than just someone wanting a truck to beat up. keep mj's going. -
The impact is definitely not a good idea. Do you know what a nut breaker is? Tighten the tool over the head of the nut and it cracks, releiving its grip on the bolt/stud. The nut is toast, of course, but if it's all rusted up you probably shouldn't be thinking about reusing it anyway. i've got 1. i was worried it may damage the thread. i guess rethreading isn't a problem if it does happen though. of course i thought of the heat and always try heat. i start at a low torque on the setting on the impact. i just want to avoid any damage so it doesn't need to be replaced. i've never had a stud break even on all the really old rigs i've worked on (wel shock mount stud). i just got nervous hearing he broke it by hand.
-
so what's the best way to get the nut off if it's rusted on so it doesn't break? i need to replace the rears on mine and i'm sure they are rusted on pretty good. i was going to soak them down and let them sit for a while then use the impact to zip them off. if they break that easy, maybe it's not a good idea. has anyone used an impact to remove the nuts without breaking the bolt and what was the setting on the impact? i just don't want to run into the same problem.

it has everything but a cd player, leather, and heated sets. it has fogs and everything. they only problems are the switch for the fog lights, a tear in the side of the driver's seat, and the struts on the rear hatch. otherwise it's great. iam trying to think of a way to keep both. i do have 1 more drriveway space but that's kept for the parents of daycare kids and guests. i'm concidering taking that up but that would mean they xj would be outside rather than in the garage. if our developement (it's a new private developement) weredone it might be different but with all the construction trucks and equiptment there's no room to park off the driveway really. i'll try to figure something out if this happens. i do use the mj alot for hauling. funny thing is i use it most for other people, including my parents! :D it's just been mentioned by him so far so it's not mine yet. i won't know until after mid march or so. i'm just thrilled the though is there.

Does anyone have a tubing bending or mandrel bender?
brdhntr replied to 91coMANche's topic in The Pub
it's not really a problem. go to a high end exhaust shop and they should be able to do it. aluminum exhaust stuff is quite common now. other wise, a decent machine shop can do it. shouldn't be a real beig deal. i've had stuff like that done here. -
we had a relative that passed away a month or so ago (didn't know her well and hadn't seen her in years) and left my mom to deal with the will and estate. long story short, she left her car to my mom (08 impala lt with 28k miles). they have a brand new honda accord but my dad has been thinking of getting a car. so he may keep the car and give me his xj!!!! it's still not set in stone yet though. it's a moss green '98 classic that he's had since '99. in great shape and always very well cared for. it's never had anything but mobil 1 in it and the oils been changed every 2500 miles or 3 months. i hope it works out. if it does, the mj will most likely go up for sale. i hate to do it but i'd rather have a newer rig than keep the old mj. i would like to keep both but just don't have the space. we'll see if i get the xj first and go from there. it's not anywhere near a done deal yet. but it'd be cool!

Smoke coming from exhaust pipe...

wouldn't a pressure test of the cooling system tell you if the head gasket is bad even if the coolant is being burned instead of going into the oil? -
i agree. i think it's amazing, but very dumb what a dealership here does. they (a vw porsche audi mercedes dealership) use a vw toureg to pull a car trailer all over the us to pick up vehicles (it had a mercedes m500 on it the other day). towing a trailer with a car on back with something like that is crazy. i can't beleive the vw holds up to the punishment. with a big trailer i'd be scared it would push the little vw around if it got a little squirelly. by the way, i am a huge vw/audi guy so nothing against the vw.

sorry steelers fans. they just announced the steelers backed out of the game since they new they'd lose. the packers have been given the win and trophy. :clapping: :clapping: i hope it's a good game. but i think the packers will start hard and pull away by quite a bit in the first half. in the second they'll start well but fall apart later in the game. :wall: i think they will have enough of a lead to keep it up for the win though. packers will win!!!!!!

is it a direct bolt on for the jeep or is a lot of fabrication needed to make it fit? as far as the trailer, i'd love one. the price would be a little high for me but iit would be nice. you're way to far for me to concider it though. around here, even well built pick up box trailers don't go over $400 and are usually arounf 250-300. i'd make one if i could find a bed around here. i'd modify the frame though to make it more like a trailer coming forward of the bed to the tow vehicle. i don't really like the frame forward than a hitch welded on. just my preference.

quote="Dechion"]All I know about mine is it has a single slider and no latch or lock (yet another reason to have a camper shell on it) mine is a 3 pane glass with the center sliding. if you don't have a latch, it may just be missing. mine has one but it's just attached with the rear view mirror type glue so it falls off now and then. since they used that, it may just be that it feel off. if it's lost, ask others to find one in a jy or order one online from some of the glass companies, jeep suppliers, and topper companies, etc.

What oil pressure is "normal"?
brdhntr replied to MJRemi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if you're on their mailing list, they have coupns for free ones right now. i have about 5 coupons so i'll be given away a couple to friends. they're not the best, but pretty close in acurracy to my craftsman. the price is right! -
don't worry about it. if it touches, air down the tires. you can lose 8" or so that way. :D

since we're on the topic, has anyone tried to roll or spray on bedliner over previous bedliner? how did it wor and how did you do it? the po bedlined my whole truck with herculiner and a roller. he put it on way to light in areas so you can still see paint. then he put it on to thick in others so it ran. it's very rough and even hurts when you lean on it with bare skin on the hood and top of the fenders. now it's discoloring. i need to redo it but i'm not sure if i use another brand if it will adhere. i'm not even sure it's herculiner brand, he just said that's what they did but he didn't seem like he knew much.

here the only gas without ethanol is premium, the rest is 10% ethanol.

i may take a break to do some audi stuff. i would love to mod an audi 2.2. or 2.3 and try to get at least the 600 hp it's easily capable of (as run in quattro sports) even try for the 1000 performance builders have gotten. it gets spendy becaus ethere is so little available now, but you can still get alot from overseas. i won't do it on this car but would like to pick up another in a couple years to start something like that on it. just pipe dreams right now.
-
For you no.. it won't make a difference. In your thread on premium fuel, you say you are using ethanol blended fuel. So your injectors will already be as clean as they will get. The ethanol does the same thing cleansing wise. i kinda thought it may do the same thing, wasn't really sure. i think seafoam would do a better job as well.
-
i wasn't looking for a blanket statemenat that it does best in all situations, just what others have noticed. i understand temp, humidity and sea level effects, as well as condition of the engine and tire pressures, as wel as modifications. i haven't driven my jeep on the road enough playing with fuel yet, i've gotten 21.5 hiway running whatever through it, both ethanol and non-ethanol. i've noticed it runs better with non-ethanol (premium here), but not checked mileage. just wondering what others think. i know some have said only run non ethaonal as it effects performance and i would assume that includes gas mileage. just curious.
-
who has had gas mileage improvements with premium gas? i have but it's better to run the cheap stuff with ethanol here in the winter. it keeps things from freezing up at -27. my audi, even in winter, has never seen a drop of anything but premium fuel. for 12 years it was nothing but amoco premium as well. nothing with any extra additives tha can harm o rings or companies that just run whatever gas was cheapest at the substation that day. amoco used to have there own plants and substations. but that was a long time ago. i only put other brands in when i was on long trips and amoco wasn't available. things have changed alot now. i only run prmium on road trips. i got into premium back in the mid 80's when i was delivering pizza's in my beater honda. i tried it once and stuck with it when i figured out the mileage difference. so i know there is a difference but i've never checked on the manche to see what the difference really is. i've got an 87 2.5. just curious to hear from those who have figured it out.
-
i've heard of alot of things but never this. it makes sense that it would clean things up and add temporary increases in mileage. so do you guys think this would be a good idea to add to the gas 1 time to get things cleaned up, say on a vehicle you just purchased and really don't know how it was taken care of? would it work better that seafoam? just curious if i should try it once or not. i've always used seafoam and think it's the greatest stuff on earth.

married almost 19 years. make an agreement with her to give each other alist of 10 things that the other does to make you feel loved. agree not to judge or agrue the list. agree to right it and give it to each other. say nothing further about it. give it to her, don't make an issue wether she gives you one back or not or if she follows through with it. do what's on her list, period. it's what she feels make her feel loved, not what you feel she should or does feel. try it!

as i said, i wasn't intending anything political. i don't want to get into that. i was simply pointing out what one trip to the hospital cost me. i feel it's incredible how much these costs are these days, for whatever reason. since i am disabled, and on social security disability, i do have medicare. medicare will take care of a large portion of the bill, but i will be left with a very good portion. but, luckily, i won't be responsible for everything. it just means a few less jeep and audi parts and fewer birds bought for dog training. that sucks. as far as the lawsuits and malpractice go, i don't want to carry on an argument. i will keep this to one point and will leave it at that. i currently have a very large lawsuit going with 3 doctors, a healthcare provider company(hospital and clinic). it is a very valid lawsuit. if i got into the full specifics, you would agree. i will just say athe doctors and healthcare provider treated me for a condition i never had and they knew i didn't have even by the first doctor notes. they continued the treatment and far exceeded the maximum levels of medications for well obove the maximum amount of time recommeded. they knowingly did this even though the tests and symptoms did not agree with the treatment. the medication levels and length of time cause exstensive damage to organs in my body and eventually ate both my hip bones and sockets beyond beleif causing masive surgery, replacement and modification. i followed what he doc's said unknowingly. i questioned it but they assured me the tests followed the diagnosis and treatment. though i was born with my heart conditions, i did not know about them until i finally went to mayo clinic for an opinion on the diagnosis. it was at that time i found out about the mistreatment and now find effects of the misdiagnosis regularly. the treatment made my heart condition progress faster and add ed15-20 years onto the severity of my condition. i know this got long and i said i would't go into detail. trust me, there is much, much, much more to this. because of this i do feel that lawsuits and malpractice insurance is justified in many cases. i do agre that many are not needed and looking for money, but a laewsuit in a finacial level of mine,if won, will effect the malpractice insurance levels of doctors. it's not just the unneeded lawsuit sthat raise rates and cause problems for all doc's, it very high award and suit amounts that effect it as well.
