my suburban probably sees a little more use, but the mj is used when i don't have to carry more than 2 kids. it's a pretty close mix. it also depends on the weather. if it's really hot, i use the suburban so the dogs have the ac to cool them down after training or hunting. 70 or lower, they go in the back of the mj when it's just me. soon, my audi project will be on the road so that will see some driving starting in november or so.

i should have stated that. it's an 87. no help needed now. i found the problem a got everything working the way it should. it ended up being the connection between the cable from the cluster to the cable coming through the firewall. it must have been loose from something the po did. i put it back together, tightened it up, and it's all good. thanks for the help guys.

i was coming back from a field trial tuesday night late and i lost dash lights on part of the instrument cluster. so yesterday i took things apart and replaced the bulb. then going dog training last night i noticed i had no speedo or odo. gas gauge and lights are fine, just the speedo and odo. :fs1: i didn't pull the cluster completely out, but did tug on it a bit to move it around some. could the speedo cable have come loose from just that? is there a way to get at the cable to check and connect it without pulling everything apart again? don't they screw in or something? what else could the problem be? :dunno: i need to know what's up fast. i was planning on taking it hunting this weekend, leaving tomorrow. help!!!

seats are original and ripped, but they have all the buttons. top is great. all the gauges and electric worked. drivetrain is excellent. hood is perfect (minus the paint) and the frame is great. front grill assembly is great. i would basically need to replace the fenders and spend many hours welding on the tub. i've done it before. the last cj i did i had about 100 hours into the bodywork in all. that's with taking it all apart, the welding, fine bodywork, etc., putting it back together and painting it, then finishing of with color sanding and buffing. i didn't have kids then and only 1 dog to train. ;)

it's not a big deal to keep it. i still have the desire, i'm just restoring a car right now so i don't have time for it. i will when the car is done. it's just wether or not i should let someone else have this piece of history with a story and just pick something up when i'm ready. it's already been decided it won't be a wheeler. some motor mods, 3 inch lift or so and 32's. this will be my wife's jeep. it's gona be done all original right down to the levi's denim seats and buttons. it will do a few mild trails, but nothing major. she just doesn't want to see me working and building jeeps all the time. she'd rather see me drive it and enjoy it. if i keep this one, i'm still going to pick up something from down south. i've traveled all over to pick up jeeps and will again. i just hate to see this perticular jeep with it's history sitting in the garage. i was hoping to have the car done this year, but that won't happen now. maybe next year. the next wrench in the plan is i'm hoping to buy my dad's xj and build that up to wheel with the family. he won't be happy about that so i won't tell him until the titles in my name. ;)

thought about it. real jeeps are steel. i usually just cut my own panels and weld them in. i like to custom fit them rather than go store bought and trim them to fit.

i am considering selling my cj project since i haven't had time to work on it in 3 years. i would still get another jeep, but maybe a newer wrangler from arizona or other rust free state. this is the 6th cj i've done and i'm kinda getting sick of the rust issues. it would be nice to get one that i don't have to weld new metal in or replace the tub. problem is, i bought it from the original owner that drove it off the dealership showroom floor back in 78. he special ordered it. i have all the original paperwork and it has been unmolested. it's a 78 cj7 renegade levi's edition. the 4.2 was rebuilt and has about 500 miles on it. i fogged the cylinders and drained everything so the motor is still perfect. my wife wants it all original, i want to mod it. if i sell it i'll probably only get 1500 or so, but it's better than having it take up room in the garage and never get worked on. i'd just look for a cj or wrangler elsewhere with 0 rust. i spend quite a bit of time in arizona and have my brother and nephew keeping their eyes open for me. i just can't decide if it should go or not. i've only spent a few of the years since i can drive without a cj. not sure what to do. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

i have jeeps. no quad needed! :D actually i'd love one and have been looking. i could really use one for hunting and dog training. i've been thinking about a polaris ranger (just the 4 wheel) with a lift kit in it. then i could carry dog boxes in back or birds, or whatever. no money right now though. :fs1:

part out the chevy and use the bucks to buy a used jeep motor. save yourself some headaches and just stick another 2.5 in it and use the rest of the money to put lower gears in.

there is no leaks and the fluid was flushed and filled last fall. the lines have been bled and there is no air in the line. this is a more recent problem that seems to be getting worse. there is no leaking at the master cylinder as well. the brakes do stop the truck, you just have to push the pedal way in. so, what do you think, bad master cylinder or booster? :dunno:

look into an wind power source (windmill). i know of several people that bought a wind generator kit and installed it for about 2 grand that runs everything electric they could want. an old family friends farmstead was done using a large windmill back in the 60's. they still have power today.

that's funny! when i worked concrete construction back in the 80's, we took one of the guys chevy truck and concreted it in around it. just the 4 wheels were not in concrete. we used one of the payloaders to lift it out after he invented some new words. he didn't go to the strip club and get drunk for lunch for a good month!!!

i have a 6 horse craftsman. it's a 33 gallon tank that i've had since '99. it's been great for me and has never given me any problems. it runs any tool i could want and works great for running multiple tools (sometimes i've had 3 running at once). it also puts out great for painting. a couple years back i got rid of my shop and the 80 gallon i had there. i had that at the shop and this one in the garage. so for the last couple years, the craftsman has done it all for me. i use my compressor alot as well. it is run at least once a day at a minimum year round. i had a smaller 3 horse cambell oilled i had at the club. i always had trouble with it in the below zero temps. i've never had a problem with the oilless. most craftsman ones are made by other companies. mines a devill biss. for the 3 hp, i wouldn't worry much. a few years back they changed the rating on the electrical motors. your new 3 hp probably puts out like an older 5hp. i'm not sure why they changed it, but they did. :dunno:

so i haven't been on much the past couple weeks. i've been training my pup, a 1 year old german wirehaired pointer, for her first navhda test. i ran yesterday in the natural ability test. i was pretty frustrated going into the test because she is starting her first heat cycle and has been a box of rocks lately. i certainly didn't expect much from her since she's in heat. well she shocked me. she did much better than i had expected. in fact, she got a perfect score of 112 and a prize one! :clapping: she's an awesome dog and has now started her navhda hunt test career with a perfect score. maybe it was because i drove the mj to the test instead of the suburban.    i'm so proud!

bummer. i think they are ok doing that. as long as you receive it and they are not withholding funds, i think they can do it. it's not right, but i think they can. if they won't included it in pay within your employee/employer contract, then you have a labor dispute. if you have no real contract, the company probably gave you employment info when you started, that is considered the agreed upon contract in most states. if it says they have to pay you salary, overtime, and expenses weekly monthly, whatever, that's what they need to do. most companies have a small disclosure in case there is an error that it will be corrected and paid on the check following the dispute resolution.
