  1. I read something on allpar.com that there is something done to the Nitro unibody that allows it to accept the 4.0 v6 that isn't present on the same year liberty thus limiting the liberty to the 3.7 only. Seems weird that they would do that but I'm also not surprised. The 3.5 and 4.0 v6's are decent engines with more power than the 3.7. That option would have woke the Libby up in my opinion.
  2. I remember hearing something about this a while back. Any info on years and models to look for?
  3. Not sure where you're going with this but the Nitro is the same platform as the Liberty and in Europe the Liberty is called the Cherokee therefore it is a Cherokee. Search for solid axle modded Libby's and you'll get some hits.
  4. Get the VIN number for us. There's an ongoing thing here about finding the last one built. While you're at it put it in the registry too. If you don't want to post the VIN you can PM it to me and I'll run it through Chrysler for you and get you build info and selling dealer info and recalls. Do whatever you can to keep this truck alive. They are worth it. Value on the other hand is another thing altogether. If you go to the classic car values guides online you'll find 7-9 thousand. But real world is around 3 or so high side for a nice truck. I paid $250 for mine rust free and drove it home. Sometimes you get lucky.
  5. Yeah I figured. That's about what my sis in law got out of the ones on her JK.
  6. I have the SR-A's on my truck. They came on the set of JK takeoffs I put on it. If I hadn't got such a good deal on these zero miles tires I wouldn't have bought them. Though I have to say on all the JKs we get through our shop the SRAs have had zero complaints. They are the factory tire JKs come with.
  7. You have a 2.5 if you have a 4 speed. The transmissions are different between the 6 cylinders and 4 cylinders. Your donor for the auto will have to be a 4 cylinder as well for it all to bolt up.
  8. I know some people swear by the Wranglers but in my experience as a mechanic I've never seen any that wear properly or that stay quiet. Could be that the only people that buy them drive junky cars already and that that is the issue. Just seeing what I've seen I would never buy a set. As far as lettering... I prefer them in. Cleaner look that way.
  9. There are 2 and 3 core replacement radiators out there for your application hut they are expensive. The WJ Grand Cherokee rad is similar in size and might adapt. I only say this because I adapted a WJ cooling fan to fit my 2.5 rad (same rad as 2.8). You might try to find some specs in size for both and go from there. Might be a cheaper alternative that way.
  10. When mine did that it ended up being the battery cables. Check the ground cable between the battery and the engine block. They like to go bad and will cause issues like that. Let us know what you find.
  11. Mine was originally like that with a little cover plate in place of the mirror. I also had a little cover over the antenna hole as mine was radio delete as well. Also no rear bumper.
  12. What kind of trans problems is it having. Maybe it doesn't really need one. The former owner of my truck replaced the engine and trans at 140,000 miles just because it was leaking oil. Just saying maybe we can help you properly diagnose what's wrong.
  13. I say keep it as well. Not sure why you have issues with the little girl riding in it. My daughter loves our MJ. She's been riding in it since she was a baby. There's no passenger side airbag therefore no issues with a baby seat facing backwards or foreword. Mine is a semi daily driver. There's no way I would get rid of it. It is too handy to have of you are a homeowner. That and its cool. Keep it. Fix it. Love it!
  14. I'm sure you've already decided to start with a southern rust free XJ. There's no need to start with a rusty base from Michigan and have to fix rust before mods happen.
  15. I have black vinyl bench in mine. It too is ripped and needs redone. Most good upholsterers can match your material and use the old seat cover as a pattern. Its not cheap though. Couldn't hurt to get a quote though. You'll save some by pulling the seat out for them.
  16. There's another older thread about flares where I posted a pic of an MJ with Late model Chevy truck flares put on it. They looked real good. I can't tell you anything about how they were mounted but they seemed like a good alternative.
  17. I have JK takeoffs that measure right at 32 inches with 4.10 gearing. Its OK on the street, but if I did any offroading I would definitely want more gears. I think most 33's measure just a bit under that so 4.88 would be great.
  18. 4.88 should be just about perfect with 33's. And there are minor things you can do to the 2.5 to eek a little more power out of it. Deleting the engine driven fan and adding a fully electric unit with a controller helps out. Removing the restrictor in the original air box or adding a smoothed "cold" air intake helps a little. High flow cat and exhaust. Some will say you'll loose bottom end power by opening up the exhaust like that but I haven't noticed anything like that on mine. www.4bangerjp.com has lots of good ideas and info on the 2.5. You'll need to join by going through their Facebook page and requesting a username and password in order to see the full site.
  19. I would love to see the bagged Lincoln. Before Jeeps I was heavy into slammed air cooled VW's. They got too expensive. Put up a pic if you get it.
  20. I suggest you fix your driveway.
  21. As cruiser said this thing is not something that works all by itself. I'm not sure who would still interested in it knowing that. PM me if you are truly interested in having it. I assure you the cost will be reasonable.
  22. It says its an adapter for something else, but I have no idea what. Its not for anything we currently have at the dealership. It was being thrown out today and another guy i work with saw it and knew I liked the AMC stuff and brought it over to me.
  23. I have no idea. I know that it needs to go to someone who will appreciate it and MAYBE get some use out of it.
  24. This little GEM was found in our outdoor compressor room for some reason today. Not sure why it was there or how it got there, but its mine now. If any of our RENIX guys think you need this, just let me know and we can work something out.
  25. You will not have any issues mounting an LT tire on a factory or any other type of rim that would normally fit that size tire. I think that you are over thinking this. The website that says that tire won't fit your truck is not the be all and end all of tire mounting information. It may just be saying it because the MJ was never rated for an LT tire. A lot of the Michelin LTX's and BFG A/T's that are commonly used are LT rated and are used with no issues. If you like those tires, get them. You'll be fine!
