  1. When I did the gauge swap in my 92, my temperature was right at the redline on the gauge. So I figured I needed to put an aux fan in because I didn't have one. I also put a new radiator and pump in. It still ran at the high mark on the gauge. Thing was it didn't act or smell like it was running that hot. So I grabbed my brothers infrared temp gauge and checked it out and it was 210 at the thermostat housing, 230 right around the exhaust ports and about 185 down on the block by the distributor. I was never able to get the aux fan running and now that I saw what it was running at I didn't worry about it anymore. It's been running fine through all sorts of weather for 8 months now. So check your actual temps with an infrared temp gauge before you do anything else. You'll save yourself a ton of aggravation. :smart:
  2. I see that you have a 94 engine in there. Which manifold are you using? The renix or the HO?
  3. Stop in SoCal and pick up MJ trailer. :D
  4. Dana 60's and cheap don't go together. If'n you do though, Hummer H1 beadlocks will narrow the track width enough to fit under TJ flares.
  5. When you buy the new pan gasket tell them it's for your 99 so you get the late model one piece rubber gasket. Much easier to install.
  6. 1992 was the first year with out the CAD. After 1989 any XJ with ABS has the larger 297/760 size ujoints, also after 95 they all have the larger joints.
  7. The MJ Dana HP 30 will have 3.07 gears and the ZJ Dana LP 30 will have 3.55 gears. It'll work if you don't connect the driveshaft, if you connect the driveshaft? BOOM!
  8. Where are you located? PM'd you.
  9. 105.9 inch wheelbase. Three inches longer.
  10. What model GC? ZJ, WJ or WK? I've had ZJ's, XJ's and WJ's. The grands are roomier and nicer overall but the transmission trouble I've had with them really sucked. I won't buy another grand unless I can find a clean early ZJ with a stick. I'll stick with the XJ's and MJ's, that way I have plenty of spares.
  11. Careful on that frontend. It will have 3:55 gears if it's from the auto and your manual will have 3.07 gears.
  12. 2.72 or 3.31 gears so they'll need to be regeared, can you do that yourself? If so it'll be about $600 minimum in parts for each axle. Brackets for the front won't be cheap either, at least $400 plus installation. Lot of money to get them ready for an MJ.
  13. What are you going to put them in? They look like they are out of a 70's wagoneer. Offset rear, passenger side drop and leaf sprung.
  14. How old are the 4.5" coils? If they have any age on them they could be 1"'or 2" shorter. The back looks about right for 33's.
  15. No need to put a newer adapter on it unless you want the filter laying horizontally. The 92 will have the standard 3/4" thread not the metric.
  16. The dividing years are 86-94 for the early style seats and 95-01 for the seats with the wider track spacing. :smart:
  17. Yes, that's exactly what those transmissions are. That's why there are tons of ZJ's on craigslist for cheap, they almost all have transmission problems.
  18. Chrysler V8 bell housing bolt pattern is different than an AMC 4.0 bolt pattern. They didn't make the 5.2, 5.7 and 5.9 in the jeeps any different than the ones in the trucks as regards to bell housing bolt pattern.
  19. Go to Levielle's in Somers. They have a couple MJ's of that vintage. 96 Egypt Rd Somers CT 1-860-749-3705
  20. 87-90 XJ's are a 4.0 EFI. 87-90 YJ's are a carbed 4.2. You make a stroker by taking the crank out of the 4.2 and putting it into the 4.0. Plus a bunch of other work.
  21. What year Cherokee? I've heard of several 96 and 97's that had loose wrist pin tolerances. I had a 96 myself that let loose at 85k. The piston just disintegrated around the pin. It was clacking for some time before it let loose. Usually if they made it past a 100k they wouldn't come apart. If the xj is in nice shape, buy it cheap and put another motor in it.
  22. That's a shame. :( It looks to be a rust free jeep. A lot better shape then most of them up here.
  23. XJ: Wagoneer Limited SE J10: Quadra-Trac
  24. 1992 MJ 4x4 LWB 6cyl AX15 NP231 D30 D35 No A/C or power. Currently in a junkyard. Bed is shot, frame is shot, doors are shot. Nose is good, interior is salvageable. I'm going to be stripping it out for the full wiring harness, interior, nose, axles and rear springs. Tail lights too. Maybe some of the MJ specific sheet metal too.
