  1. Just the bushing. Do you have access to a set of dial calipers? Measure the ID of the crank and the OD of the bushing. They should be within a couple thousandths of each other. There will be no bearing with this setup.
  2. Jim, if you're willing to part with that camp stove I'd be interested in it. PM me a price and we'll figure something out. It would fit in good with my collection of old camp stoves. It's just right for my 6" skillet.
  3. Check to make sure that the TJ carrier will work in a JK. I think you should leave it in though. All you need to do is run an air line from an air source. A small co2 tank will work and just plumb in an air switch. You'll like an air locker better than a lunch box by far.
  4. If she lives that close to you, pop in now and then and ask her how it's going. Don't let it get away, even if it's just for parts.
  5. Could very well be the rest of the car is under there. If it is, find the oldest local and ask them if they know about anybody losing a car back in the day.
  6. 91-95 XJ, ZJ and YJ have the same rail. 93-95 on the ZJ.

    Top Milelage

Not an MJ but an XJ. 1998 XJ 4.0 stick. I bought it in 2007 with 206,000 miles on it from the original owner. Drove it until this last winter and gave it to my soon to be ex son in law with just under 400,000 on it. It passed 400k this past summer all on the original motor. The long block was never apart on it and it went 2,500 miles before a quart of oil was used. It wasn't all burned either as it had some good leaks on it. I'd like to have it back but he traded it for a pos 90's Dodge 1500. I'm not afraid to buy high mileage vehicles from the original or long time owners. Why would you keep a vehicle that long unless it was really reliable?
  8. It has 13 more HP, 1987 was rated at 177. 2000 was rated at 190.
  9. What ever the engine came with originally usually works best in my experiance. I run the stock champions in all my 4.0 HO's. Never had ignition trouble.
  10. You'll probably want to ditch the dayco belt and get a gates or goodyear belt. I just went through this on two jeeps, both being the belt. #1 was a 1 year old dayco belt and I tried everything to get the squek to stop. Seeing how I was just putting the jeep on the road I changed out the bearings in the pulleys and put a new water pump on. Still squeeked. Ended up putting a new Goodyear belt on. #2 had a 1 year old Goodyear on and a 1 year old water pump. Changed the idler pulley out because I had one and did the stethoscope trick, no change no bad bearings.. Tried tightening the belt and it got worse. Ended up loosening the belt until the squeel went away. That was yesterday and I haven't drivin in the rain yet so we'll see if it cures it. Try a good quality belt, that's the only way I've been able to stop the squeek.
  11. If you have a smart phone, you can down load a running or bicycling app that has built in gps. The app's are free to inexpensive. You just set it on you dash and drive. That is what I did. It's on my iphone.
  12. With my truck when I compared it to the gps the speedo was right on but the odometer was reading 9.5 miles for every 10 miles traveled. So I take my total miles traveled and divide it by 20 then I add that to the total miles and divide by the amount of gas.
  13. "Released in 1983 for the 1986 model year." Huh?
  14. If you drop your rig from a decent height on them, yes.
  15. As far as your tire size and gear ratio are concerned, I'm running 30x9.5x15's also with 3.07 gears. When I first bought the truck it was 2wd and had 225/75/15's. I averaged between 19.5 and 21mpg over a year. When I converted it to 4wd and 30" tires it dropped to18-20 over the last year. The difference in tire size has been corrected at the speedo gear and verified by GPS. I try not to let the engine drop under 1800 rpm while accelerating or going up hills. Dropping below that hurts the mileage slightly. I could probably gain back most of the lost mpg by renewing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. They have approx 50k on them now.
  16. Nice work!
  17. The base of that wood block is the same size as a six ton jack stand. There is nothing wrong with what is done there. Wood blocks are what I used for a long time before I found some six ton's I could afford. I still use them when my stands aren't around.
  18. Luckily I have a couple Comanche emblems too. It helps to experiment with the more common 4X4 emblem first. I took twelve pictures before I picked one to send.
  19. Duh, will shoot one withe primer and send it out tomorrow. I'm at work now. Does anything else need to be different?
  20. Sent a couple. Let me know how they work and what needs to be different.
  21. Picture from an iPhone ok?
  22. Primer ok? I may have an emblem I can shoot with gray primer tomorrow. I won't be using it on my truck.
  23. Now read the above several times until you remember it. Very good advice.
  24. You won't find much for a 27 year old vehicle on the rack in a parts store.
