I just screenshot it.

Also 5.0x5 is a JK,WK,WJ bolt pattern. CJ is 5.5x5. With adapters and 3.5” backspace the wheels will stick out ridiculously far. Your track width will be at least 6” wider with that setup.

weirdest/coolest thing I saw on my journey to michigan
FrankTheDog replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
Pre instant camera days I saw a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria that had a Ford 427 side oiler with dual quads pulling an 8 ton equipment trailer. Later I saw it pulling away from a light like the trailer wasn’t even there. -
Just because it is electric doesn’t mean it has to look like an appliance.

Transmission Option?
FrankTheDog replied to BustedKnuckleJK's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
AW4 arrived with the Renix 4.0 In 1987, I have one with a NP242 but I’m 1,500 miles away. -

1994 Grand Cherokee w/ AX15 MANUAL

The only way I would buy another ZJ. Never had any luck with the chrysler automatics. -
My engine hoist story: Saw the hoist come up for sale and I knew the guy was into AMC/Jeep parts and I had a set of 401 heads and a single plane aluminum 4 barrel manifold that I was given by a neighbor who picked them up on a sidewalk in Queens when they were put out for garbage pickup. He agreed to an even trade. Hoist isn’t folding but it comes apart in under 5 minutes with 6 bolts and takes up less room when apart. Easily lifts a 4.0 with transmission and transfer case out. It’s done around 10 engine swaps between me and my friends plus it’s useful for lifting all kinds of heavy things. I also have the HF tranny jack and three engine stands that I’ve aquired over the years.

...in fact, make it a super stretch... that has rear steer...

They did it because they could. What more reason do you need. I admire their talent. Probably made from all left over parts and junked XJ’s. -
Snow just finished melting a week ago, I’ll worry about mowing the lawn in another month. If I plant any grass.

Wait a couple of years, maybe the dummies are listening?
FrankTheDog replied to Jeep Driver's topic in The Pub
They can't use the frame from the unlimited because there is more over hang on the rear of the J6. So may as well give it a beefier frame and be able to tow more. -
This, we dumped our land line several years ago. I keep a lot of the numbers I have called in my contacts, I have approximately 400. If a name doesn’t come up I don’t answer. If they don’t leave a message they don’t get called back unless it’s a name from my list. No complaints so far.

A kit based offering would suck because you’re stuck with an unlimited frame instead of a shortened gladiator frame. I would want the heavier frame and the max towing axles He did say towing weight but started saying tongue and changed it to towing midstream. -

I think they should stick with the J6 name, it’s more of a utility jeep than it is a true pick up, kind of like a short cab CJ6 -

I daily drove an MJ for 6 years, I can live with a regular cab. -
Not the latest one but still up there. All original internals, never been opened except to change the valve cover and oil pan gaskets.

how many miles on your truck's factory engine?
FrankTheDog replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not an MJ but my 98 XJ has 457,000 miles on it. The internals have never been touched. It runs so well I’m thinking about putting it in my YJ build just to see how long it keeps running. It’s to bad that the XJ is extremely rotten. Much worse than this picture shows. -
I tried to like the 4 door but just couldn’t. That two door on the other hand I think I would buy one.

Get a 2wd axle from a 90-98 Cherokee or 93-98 ZJ. Go to Autozone and get their C-Max brake pads and Duralast Gold rotors that are coated. They will haul your light 2wd MJ down real fast and it will be all bolt in. In my 3400 lb 4wd XJ it stops really well and the pads are aggressive enough to wear out the rotors while only half way wearing out the pads. I got 60,000 miles out of the rotors with fairly aggressive driving and towing duties.

Parts are parts question
FrankTheDog replied to JEEP_cannible's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4.0 ZJ’s will have a LP30 and a disc brake D35 in the rear. Even the early V8 ZJ’s had the 35. The front brakes will be identical to any 90-98 XJ. Engine is the same as 96-98 XJ’s and TJ’s TJ’s were made from 1/96-6/98 with XJ compatible engines except for the accessory mounts. Transmission is trash. -
Eagle, your vin will say it’s 2wd, that’s all they’ll go by unless they inspect it.

500 hp 6.0 with l think a TH400. He started with Novak adaptors motor mounts but ended up building his own because he felt they weren’t heavy enough for his intended use.
