I don't get what could have happened to it. I am from Indiana and the body on mine was much worse than his but my frame & floors were solid.

I should also point out that both of my tail lights are probably newer than anyone elses on the forum. They have probably seen less than 40 hours of direct sunlight. I had a pair of used tail lights in reasonably good condition on it before. After I installed the new ones, I really don't notice a difference. My point is, if you are restoring, this would probably be one of the last things I would consider spending good money on. I spent slightly less than $200 for both mine. I don't think it was worth it and I am pretty picky.

I remember one of those things showed up on ebay a couple years ago. The guy didn't do a good job posting it. I ran across it with a $40 buy it now. Be patient.

What does it mean when you actually remember watching them on television?

Not Another One!!?? '88 Eliminator
glundblad replied to JeepsOLot's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I am not sure how you can tell other than I know the mounts looked very similar to standard bumper that everyone has. I am not aware of any third party bumpers that looked like that. I would bet it is factory and I certainly wouldnt get rid of it even if it were aftermarket. I think Don (aka hornbrod) had one on his MJ at one time. He may be able to confirm. -
Anything with the 4.0 in it. Very reliable. Inexpensive to repair and it is easy to find someone that can fix it.

Peugeot BA10/5 Transmission Fluid Change
glundblad replied to caseyrstewart's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can't imagine a factory fill of transmission fluid being good for anything. I would change it. BTW, about everyone on this forum would disagree with me but that transmission is just fine as long as you don't beat the crap out of your truck. -
750 if I am not mistaken. Very nice. Unusual to find them in a JY. What a score.

I paid $30 for the black plastic and seatbelts. I don't even know why I bought them (not for sale btw). I hoard stuff. Terrible habit.

I know everyone likes the black interior but come on? $275? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Comanche-Rare-Factory-Black-Interior-/221723592603?hash=item339fc1879b&vxp=mtr

Help Identifying Rattling Sound (Video)
glundblad replied to 88mjblue's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is probably not it but I will offer it anyway. At times, mine rattles like that but usually it's only at takeoff and it is somewhat infrequent. I crawled underneath and kicked at the bottom of the tranny a bit and found the rubber gasket that the tranny sites on is worn. I bought a replacement but haven't gotten around to changing it. -
I have never heard of the guy....Where have I been?

Door Question!!!! Please Help!!!
glundblad replied to MGriff013's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yea door panels. :) -
I don't get it. He didn't even tape up the chrome when it slapped that bedliner on it. I can't imagine that thing ever being worth much.

Your fav. Coil Springs and Shocks
glundblad replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I installed OME coils and shocks. I have been very pleased with them. The ride was much improved over the brand new OEM shocks I installed the previous summer. I should point out the design of the truck is still almost 30 years old so it won't act like a ford raptor. But if I were to do it over again, I would buy them again. -

89 MJ On Ebay Not a Valid Eliminator?
glundblad replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
dang. Wouldn't that be upsetting if a guy bought that only to find later it wasn't real. What a scammer. :( I wonder if that is why buyers are backing out? -
You young guys talk of the demise of Jeep since Chrysler no longer exists. I always disliked Chrysler. I thought Jeep died when AMC when under. :rotf:

Even though my mj is not my daily driver, there is nothing wrong with it (except the AC and the radio). I would drive it 1,000 miles with no concerns. But there is no way I will ever sell mine. If I did, the next owner would either beat the sh...out of it or grab a saws-all and start cutting away.

restoring rear bumper
glundblad replied to Co-MAAAN-cheee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was in the same situation as you are. Northern Indiana is not kind to Comanche bumpers so finding them in junkyards can be difficult. I found a fey in fair condition and mounted it. Then I patently waited for a factory bumper. Patience paid off. I have two of them now. One to use and the other to replace my bumper if someone rear ends me. My link below shows a mounted fey. Fey is a little heavier than factory but it doesn't look as nice but only those familiar with a Comanche would know it is not factory. Personally, I don't mind the appearance.
