  1. all of it. and I hope that's a 95 cherokee, not a wrangler or a grand. or you could be in for one heck of a project. :( or you could just swap in the block.
  2. no. all sorts of gear ratios were available. pre 95 were drums, 95 and later were disks. other than that they are pretty much the same. car-part.com may be of some help in finding them locally in junkyards
  3. more power = good :D but unless you've got a tremendous budget available for all this, that money would probably be better spent building up the truck to be able to handle that kind of power. You can't just drop in that much HP without some serious beef behind it. But you can seriously beef up your truck and still enjoy it with a regular 4.0. (and then drop in a stroker later on  )

    Another one

"rust free parts truck" = future project truck. :D
  5. interesting. the rule of thumb is that they should cancel each other out. :dunno: got any pictures of the setup?
  6. thought about a small lift?
  7. as long as the shell is in ok shape, why not just fab some new mounting points on them? the outer screw in my 90 have washer since the holes wallowed out too much for just screws. also the screws are bigger than stock. coated deck screws I think.
  8. wait a sec, why do you have a censor test for logging in? :hmm: that should be only for new users when they sign up. guess I gotta look into that... sigh...
  9. spacers only come so thick. and you pretty much need the max spacer out there to help the rear look like the front. Soooooo, I don't think you can do both poking them out and matching the rear to the front without aftermarket rims.
  10. maybe. from what I've read, it's practically a crap shoot as to whether a v8 can stay cool in an MJ/XJ under all conditions. A good quality rad, a powerful fan and a fan shroud will go a long way towards keeping everything within specs. but even then, some guys seem to always be chasing some overheating issues.
  11. and the Mona Lisa is just a picture of some lady. rare things are desirable things to those who are left wanting.
  12. that's a wall ornament if I've EVER seen one.
  13. It's here. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15316
  14. I want pictures. :D
  15. yup. most dana 35s are out there, pluggin' away just fine. mine blew up on the way to work (while wearing 30" tires). dana 35s, peugeots, and 2.8Ls are all in the same category. they usually work fine. but it is wise to have a game plan ready to go.
  16. car-part.com may be of some help in locating junkyard axles near you.
  17. but not as big as 80.
  18. XJs have a larger fuel tank. 20.2 vs 18 in a swb MJ.
  19. if you can identify if the axle is C-clip or not, that might help. C-clip Dana 35s weren't out yet when your truck was built. The early axle shafts were retained by a flange out by the tire. later axle shafts were retained by a small c-clip in the differential. If yours is C-clip, then it's definitely not stock. If it's a non-C-clip, then we're back to square one. a non-C-clip axle. note the thick plate that retains the axle shaft when bolted up. a C-clip axle. note the lack of said plate
  20. my truck is also up about 6", the bumper is raised up higher than stock, and I've still dragged it on all sorts of things. :dunno: I like the look of D-rings. :D I'm just saying that that particular location might be more detriment than benefit. What about if the tab for them pointed straight back instead of straight down?
  21. the 3.4 has more advantages than just a bigger displacement. it's a superior block to the 2.8, with a better oiling design. far less likely to blow a rod out the side. finding a cheap used maybe wrecked Camaro and using the 3.4 and its fuel injection system can make a huge difference in your truck. But others will argue that you could also buy a wrecked XJ and do a complete swap to the 4.0L. choice is yours. but I would not put any time/effort into the 2.8L block. It's like the Dana 35 and the peugeot transmission. it's just not worth it. :( If you have an auto trans, then you have a 904 trans. If you have a 5spd manual then it's a AX-5, if 4spd, then an AX-4. You need to find out what gears you have now.
  22. a seemingly small bump in gear ratio can make a huge difference in perceived power.
  23. might want to start a new thread for that one.
  24. unless the rear axle is a Dana 44, it's then a worthless Dana 35 with 3.07 gears. I wouldn't take it if it was free. :( But I'd take that entire body if I was closer. :D
