  1. for a conversion you need: AX-15 trans (94.5+ are external), 231 t-case (96+ are sealed rear output), front driveshaft (anything 87+) 4wd shifting linkage (any year), front axle (95+ are big-U-joint plus older ones if they have ABS ). if you buy a whole AX-15 XJ, you'll be buying 3.07 gears. :( also, now's the time to contemplate if the 242 t-case would be a better choice.
  2. what will you be doing about gearing?
  3. the Dana 35 is a rear axle. Dana 30 is the front. what size tires are you looking to run in the end?
  4. :rotf:
  5. if you can PM me a guess of your username or even the email you used, I bet I can find you.
  6. did you ever find them? I don't see them... :dunno:
  7. not usually. the big reason the add bumpstop extensions is if contact is occurring. i.e. if the shocks are bottoming out or if the tires are hitting the fenders.
  8. always, always, always wear safety glasses. or in Jim's case, a full on redman suit.

    Search

the inherent limitations of the search function can make things difficult for sure. then add to that the plethora of ways to describe some items (transmission, trans, tranny, manual, stickshift, AX-15, etc) and you'll understand why I encourage people to simply ask their questions.
  10. if you can, take your old one in with you to verify the mounting pattern.

    Photo Bucket

facebook works pretty good. it's free, automatically shrinks the pics, and as far as i can tell, has no limit.
  12. true enough, they might.
  13. welcome to the club! :waving: pictures?
  14. I used regular ol' mouse spring-traps with sunflower seeds glued to the trigger. the seeds last a lot longer than peanut butter and so they still remain a viable draw many months later.
  15. if you haven't changed the bumpstops, then your up travel hasn't changed. if you haven't changed your control arms, your downtravel hasn't changed. stock shocks work fine. shocks for a 3" lift will also work fine. no idea what any of their overall lengths are. :dunno:
  16. plenty of options out there. anything from stock length to shocks designed for a 3" lift will work.
  17. going SOA increases spring wrap
  18. assuming you don't lose all your t-case fluids out the back?
  19. did it hurt you more than it did him?
  20. vacuum controls the diverters under the dash probably one of the hoses behind the panel was knocked off or there's a leak in the system. check the condition of the hose that feeds into the vacuum canister located in the bumper on the passenger side (a more typical leak spot).
  21. what is your end goal? how bad of shape is your main leaf in?
