  1. welcome to the club! :waving: looks like you're making some progress. wiring is probably my least favorite mess to deal with :( doesn't help that I suck at it.
  2. color matters not. it just can't be reflective. My own phone can take an acceptable pic, so I'd guess an iphone can too. just make sure the camera is as squared up as possible.
  3. can we turn off the anti-capitals setting? I don't mind fixing the occasional screaming.
  4. baking soda would work. though I think it dissolves in water. that might make for more mess. or less. only one way to find out! :D
  5. and one last thing to add, never join 2 straps together with a shackle. if one strap were to break, the shackle then becomes a projectile. Try your hardest to never use more than one strap at a time, but if you really need the extra length, loop then through each other. the magazine can be substituted with a rolled up towel or whatever that's light. it's purpose is to allow you to get the straps back apart. never loop them together without something in there or they will become permanently joined.
  6. 6000 lb strap? is that tow strap or a recovery strap? get one of these at the very least: http://www.harborfreight.com/3-inch-x-30-ft-heavy-duty-recovery-strap-67230.html 3"x30', 27k lb, with loops on the ends.
  7. I guess pretty much any powder will work. I used baby powder because it's cheap and inert.
  8. yup. just needs to be painted so there's no reflective chrome on it. on the Jeep or off, doesn't matter. just needs to be as squared-up as possible in the image.
  9. could be the rear window leaking. could be the door. the baby powder trick works.

facebook is what you make of it. it's simple to set up a fake name with a fake email and use it purely for photo/video hosting. but it's just one of the choices and there are probably better options when it comes to photo hosting. I just wanted to throw it out as an option if the OP already had an account.

I still have my picturetrail.com account, but lately I've mostly been using facebook.
  12. needs to be a clear shot of the "Comanche" emblem with no hard shadows and taken with the camera properly squared up to the emblem and from at least a couple feet away). BUT the big caveat is that it needs to be in good shape and painted. the shiny chrome emblems just aren't working. before I go painting mine I was hoping someone out there that had already painted theirs could snap a photo for me. color matters not. First person to get a useable image to me gets a free decal :D email to comancheclub@hotmail.com
  13. that is true pete, but say chain is stronger than strap :dunno: i'd use the chain for towin as well Redwolf that's some dang heavy and expensive chain to compete with a 30k lb strap ($40 for 30 feet and it only weighs a few pounds). Chain's big benefit is abrasion resistance.
  14. the backup plan should be strap #2. if you broke a 30k lb strap, what good is that chain? having said that, I have a big ol' chain in the truck. but it's there for other reasons (like towing a broken truck back to camp). the strap is used only for recovery to keep it as pristene as possible. keep that strap clean (wash it out after use) and away from sunlight and heat.
  15. I think he mans these little guys:
  16. I love old stuff! :D am I the only one that wonders why your lawn mower is so... stock looking?
  17. This could be as simple as some drop blocks. use them to balance the truck out and then remove them later on when the leafs settle. also, you can help the settling process along by putting weight in the bed. a LOT of weight. like to the bumpstops. leave it there for a couple days and then remove. repeat as necessary. :D
  18. or maybe if they blended it all together. but as it is, I find it hideous. and I generally like everything MJ. It...it just looks like they stopped halfway through the project. :dunno:
  19. see, that's all we needed. more angles. :D and now I can see that this is a real and tangible abomination to the Jeep gods.
  20. link to the original source?
  21. and look at the drivers side drip rail in this conveniently-cropped-short-of-the-extended-part-of-the-roof photo: Image Not Found
  22. looks suspicious photoshop-esque to me. I see lots of very careful cropping of the photos so we don't see too much. and look at how wide the drivers side B-pillar is compared to the pass side in this shot. Image Not Found
  23. nice :D
