  1. What a simple concept.... I love it. The total cost is???? unknown. best guess is about 150 a year but it all depends on the data flow from hosting our own photos. I have enough funds to get this party started, but will never stop someone from donating to the cause. paypal ID is: comancheclub@hotmail.com
  2. ask in the classifieds. I bet someone from a less rust-prone area has some extras around.
  3. things are happening! stay tuned for your countdown to the down-time (I'm sure there will be some issues, there always are with this many 1s and 0s flying around) also, I just learned we should be getting https security. :D
  4. always grade 8s (when possible) common misconception about 8 vs 5. are you talking about the giant bolts for the leaf springs? they are metric and identical to front control arm bolts. any cherokee in the junkyard will have them.
  5. cleaned the wire connector at the pump?
  6. nope. should be doable. the keys are keeping the forum software that we can get for free and then keeping a handle on the photo use (hotlinking from this site eats into our monthly bites). as to splitting up the forums more, the philosophy I've used so far is the fewer the forums, the more eyes will see the questions. besides, there are 24 THOUSAND threads in tech. :ack: I'm not about to go through them all to split them up. oh, and the "popular threads' forum was just something I threw together for newcomers. threads that had a bunch of responses on topics like "share a photo of your truck" or "what are your other hobbies". something to browse that would have otherwise gotten lost or needed a sticky (and no one likes 30 stickies on the first page).
  7. I have 1957 mosquitoes in the creek behind our house. feel free to come take all you want
  8. 57 inches is the distance along the leafs. once arch is taken into account, the distance between the eyes will be much closer to the distance between the mounting holes.
  9. it looks like, all-in, to upgrade to a system that includes photo hosting and other goodies it'll be about $150 a year (most likely) and as much as $300 (all depends on the variables of the photo-hosting aspect). we get our own server and automatic backups for it too! :D more details coming...
  10. I might be a bit off since I was being attacked by the entire 76th squadron of georgia mosquitoes, but I get 55" from mounting hole to mounting hole.
  11. we're working on getting photo-hosting with our upcoming software upgrade.
  12. http://comancheclub.com/topic/37727-how-to-post-pictures/ if you have a facebook account, that will work too. just don't use FB for anything you want to share long-term as FB purposely changes the pics' addresses now and again to avoid hosting duties.
  13. Agreed. and that is the ultimate coin flip. I've tried my darnedest to keep this place as simple and cheep as possible, but that philosophy has caused a plethora of headaches over the years (loss of photos, repeatedly hitting the storage or bandwidth caps, having to delete spammers one at a time, that one time we were outright hacked, etc). :( It's time to at least explore what the alternatives are and what it'll cost. competing with the newer social media is only going to get harder.
  14. we're working on a bypass, but the pic host company PhotoBucket recently decided to charge an outrageous amount for hosting pics and it's absolutely destroying the world of the hobbyist. :( so much info might be lost forever.
  15. which improvements are you just dying for? (obviously photo hosting, but what else? :D ) Something needs to happen to keep us current and updated so while the mods and I are discussing what should and what can happen (and what it's going to cost :ack: ), i figure it's time to bring y'all into the discussion. what say you?
  16. congrats!!!!
  17. it's not the site that matters, it's the folks on the site. if someone else wants to make their own site for MJs, they will do so regardless of how many site names I own. plus I'm just about penniless so it's a moot point anyhow.
  18. I do own this site (hosted by a 3rd party host). some of the pic extensions are not allowed by the forum software. can't remember if that is alterable or not. :dunno: Alexia is our main computer guru so you're likely to get a better answer from him.
  19. anyone know if its possible to host some photos on CC with software that automatically shrinks the pic size to a reasonable amount? we wouldn't need any 5 or 8 meg pics for what we do. what about a cap on the number of pics hosted per member?
  20. it won't necessarily mean a whole inch of difference under weight, but interesting none the less. :dunno: might just be that the owner had a fat friend sitting on the passenger side a lot?
  21. looks fine to me. seriously, just beat the roof back into shape. I mean who wants a pristine wheeler anyways. :) but I may not want it for a daily driver...
  22. I'm sure youtube has something. :)
