huge thanks to all that contributed to making the trip possible. pretty sure I cemented my title as best Uncle ever. when there's a checkers table available, ya gotta play. got to watch a bonus fireworks show from the hotel we were passing through does it make me a bit nervous handing my camera over to a 10 year old? yeah, lil bit. not gonna lie. but I trust her enough and am looking to get that spark of excitement of being a photographer. Disney World french fries for the win I was never into characters as a kid, but when in Rome... teh 10 year old and I woke up super early to rope-drop DHS (to ride Rise of the Resistance without the usual 2hr wait) and were rewarded with getting to meet the Mandalorian and Grogu! and yes, the little guy is quite animated. very cool tech. that evening I paid for the lightning lane and rode again with the 7 year old too. Rise of the Resistance is apparently the best ride ever as voted by the kids. I promised they could build their own light sabers (the cheap ones, not the crazy $200 ones) so of course we had to snap photos. she swears she enjoyed the roller coasters. had my doubts due to the level of terrified screaming, but we went on all we could so I guess it's all good. I feel ya, li'l buddy. I feel ya. I'm still paying dearly for the exertion I asked my body/brain to do last week, but it was totally worth it. big smiles all around.

cutting and welding is one thing. balancing the shaft is whole other thing. an unbalanced shaft can ruin other, far more expensive things. I wouldn't pay 250 just to end up with stock shaft again, but rather I'd get a new shaft from Dennys or Adams. way stronger. also you shouldn't be cutting the rubber end, but rather the solid end. speedo can be skipped altogether if you're on a tight budget. just use your phone's GPS to figure out what rpm in what gear equals the basic speeds. it's real easy once you get used to it. my 88 still doesn't have a working speedo.

the guy I bought my stove pipe from had a new tractor about that big and only 2 acres. I like my little garden tractor, but I was deeply envious.

alright, so I'm back in and it appears that the sign-in thing is what has changed. we now have to use our emails instead of our screen names for security reasons. spread the word!

most anything can be adapted in as long as it didn't come from like a full size truck or something. frequently just needs some 1x1 square tube and bolts. bonus points if you get some from a 2dr car so they still fold forward to allow access behind the seat. power seats can be a real challenge because it's a tight fit down there.

if the ad is accurate, it's an 89 and so not an original SC. best guess is that the glovebox door was taken from an SC. good eye potting that!

I certainly hope that competing products get better with time. POR came out long enough ago that I read about it in magazines. it is crazy sensitive to application. far more so than the newer stuff.

I glued 1" thick foam directly to the steel and then covered it with speakerbox carpet. it works pretty good. doing it in chunks made it a lot easier to manage. especially around the sunroofs.

almost. AX-15s are all 23 spline. but all AX-5s are 21 spline, so you can look for later years of XJ.

don't forget that the 21 spline 242 is very rare (87-90 XJs with selectrac), but still out there to be found.

you'll want a 21 spline, so anything found behind an 87+ 2.5L, a Peugeot, or an 87-90 AW4.

not sure when the last time I saw a step product made for an MJ that wasn't an all-out rocker guard.

as a former Dak owner I can attest to them being some of the best seats out there. the rest of the truck is pretty awesome too!

don't forget about gearing. depending on your commute, giant tires can be a real drain on gas.
