when it comes to a large get together, my philosophy has been to tack it on to a larger event already going on. it can be quite the challenge to get people together that may live many hours apart and then if half of the people bail, you still have an even to attend for those that made it.

my daily was a 97 T+C for like a decade. I really miss that van. soooo comfy and I could haul most anything in it. nowadays it's an 06 Libby diesel. love the noises it makes, but the hauling part can be more... challenging.

now that you mention it, that sounds right. we did the optional hike up the mountain. and by that I mean I took the kids up the mountain while the other adults chilled back at camp.

if you put it into a ditch accidentally you are likely going way faster than if you were trying to cross the ditch on purpose and so you're pretty darn stuck either way. 242 in AWD, all day every day. that's 13 years and 200k miles now. also, you can drive around in 2wd with the 242 if you really feel the need to.

a bunch of years ago I got to do the 50 mile hike through the Philmont scout ranch. it was fun despite it being 50 miles of herding a dozen whiny teenagers and a few out of shape adults. no one died (either from exhaustion or from me killing them) so it was a rousing success!

every job interview I've ever had started with talking about scouting. (helps that I put Eagle Scout on my resume ). I joined when I was 11 so I skipped all the cubscout things unfortunately. but my nephews joined cubbies so I've been able to share in some of the fun. my bro-in-law is an eagle scout. As is my best friend (we were in the same troop). got a sticker on the back of the Libby this past year

oooorrrrrrr, you could just not drive it in the salt

fired up the truck today! just needed to move it out of my way so I could get my spare engines into the back corner of the barn (brought them back with me from michigan and they are still in the trailer I need tomorrow). learned that my clutch pedal no longer has resistance, so I never got to move it at all. now there are 2 engines in the bed and jackstands supporting it all. but I did put the bedliner in first hopefully 1k lbs will flatten out the warping a bit

even 2wd becomes pointless
