  1. that sucks. at least that particular part can be fabbed by a muffler shop, but it's a trend. thankfully we are also experiencing an uptick in certain parts availability (like the taillights). so it's not all bad.
  2. being an 89, if you find the thread that has the code explanations on the back of an 89 build sheet, you miiiiiight be able to fill in some blanks. but as you said, she's most definitely grown past the stock stage anyways.
  3. totally worth a grand. possibly the best use of a grand.
  4. whoops, you saw it before I was able to get here and edit out the reused codes (the codes are right, but the letters now refer to more modern chrysler stuff). sorry, but the truck didn't come with a powder coated bumper of rack-n-pinion steering or an electric t-case.

apparently if you list them as only for decorative purposes? maybe? https://www.ebay.com/itm/165319600485

found random titles for sale on ebay. one was an MJ.
  9. my life lately has been project after project. first the heat pump tried to burn the house down, then the durango got hit, then the lawn tractor started leaking oil as fast as I could put it in the top, then the fridge died, the the septic stopped functioning. good times.
  10. yeah, shipping is a killer. I'd love to help out, but my next trip north isn't until spring at the earliest.
  11. sort of, but not necessarily. I installed a late model radiator on my old 88, but kept everything closed. as long as the cap has a higher rated pressure than the system uses normally, it's a closed system.
  12. I've winched with one too. it was... eventually effective. lord knows we were screwed if it didn't eventually get the bronco out of that ice puddle. but both of us have winches now, so we learned both that the hi-lift can do the job, but also no one wants to actual use that thing for that purpose unless absolutely forced to.
  13. where do you put the jack to lift up your vehicle? that's key. the biggest danger is the utter lack of friction holding the jack base or hoist point still. jacks slipping out of place is a very dangerous thing. plus as you lift the vehicle can shift causing the jack body to contact the Jeep body in ways you may not be happy about. plus occasionally the handle will snap back and try to kill you mid lift, but that might be more of an off-brand farm jack thing. I carried a hi-lift everywhere I went, but I never used it because I also carried a hydraulic floor jack. all my experience with hi-lifts comes from other people using them.
  14. media means books of some kind. I didn't see posters anywhere in the explanation. I tried shrinking the size, but the price was the same. I'm getting the feeling that (like first class mail) I can't do the cheaper options from home. I gotta go in person.
  15. do you guys down under have any ideas for affordably shipping a 20x6x6 practically empty cardboard box (just a poster inside) to Australia? the USPS wants 75 bucks! that's the online express price though, I haven't yet gone to the post office to see if a cheaper option exists.
  16. no such thing as too much tube. good to hear the ol' girl is still getting improvements.

    CC cookbook

my pickles are ready. after months of soaking, I now have some sweet dill to enjoy with my sandwiches (be they bread or trisket based). heck yeah.
  18. I know own them all now (barring the last book ethat's currently being written). this was harder than I thought since they are all out of print and some issues have gone way up in value. lots of hunting and waiting for ones that are listed for cheaper.
  19. search youtube for "Mickey Thompson offroad". bring over any you find that have MJs in them
  20. I wonder how our current numbers compare. I bet some of the ratios are similar.
  21. that's exactly why I use a laptop with a 32" tv as a second monitor. lol. stupid eyes aren't what they use to be.
  22. @eaglescout526 one more for ya!
