  1. the only KJs that don't have 3.73 are manual transmissions (3.55) and 4bangers (4.10). both are rare as hell. checking is always good, but you're going to find a 3.73. car-part.com might be able to find you one of the rare ones though. definitely double check an axle claimed to be a 4.10.
  2. I do believe @ghetdjc320 is in the middle of a Liberty swap right now. Liberty rear brakes are smaller than the fronts and will easily clear. the key restriction to me is that 99% of KJs got 3.73 gears. a lot of guys like the 8.8 because they can be found with 4.10s fairly easily. but the ZJs and TJs got 3.73s a lot too, so if regearing is out of the budget, you can use them together.
  3. I split your questions off into Tech so more eyes will see them.
  4. the later 97+ 8.25 is as strong as the 44 and 8.8 bonus points if you look at KJ Libertys because they have the same bolt pattern but are an inch or so wider than stock and thus helps to fill out the wheelwell to match the front. (MJs have a wider butt than XJs which is why the tire looks tucked in)
  5. WJ arms are the same length as stock and so will sometimes be long enough for a 3" lift. it all depends on the individual truck and how much caster adjustment it has available.
  6. I'd say that's your problem.
  7. old radiators are old. nothing wrong with some preventative maintenance.
  8. the stock assembly is not all that bad. keeps things quiet and sucks in cold air.
  9. did you get the crossbody harness with the doors?
  10. no such thing as a stupid tech question. we all start at the bottom of the knowledge ladder and learning is the only way to climb.
  11. are you still running the 30 year old control arms? or did the kit come with lowers?
  12. I think that's the Cordovan color.
  13. doesn't Kody have one? or 10?
  14. grey is most definitely the most common. might not be over 50% of all the things you can find, but as time went on Jeep got rid of all the interesting colors and had just like grey and tan.
  15. yup, you only need one post to then message folks. it's an anti-spam measure.
  16. Eliminators and XLS and Laredo are the top trims and the most rare. Pioneer, X and Chief are middle. SporTruck and Custom are base models. Not all these trim levels existed in every year. but you could order just about anything onto a lower trim. I had a base 86 with AC, the bigger engine, 4wd, and the metric ton package. the majority of all Pioneers were 2wd. Eliminators were all 2wd until (I think) '89 when they could then be had in 2 or 4wd.

'89.5+ 4.0L MJ or XJ or YJ or TJ. the wrangler transmissions are slightly different though so it depends on what you're doing with the truck as to whether it's wroth the extra work. you'll need the bellhousing and the guts, the trans mounts, the shifter handle, and crossmember. plus your current t-case has a 21 spline input and the AX-15 will have a 23 spline output so you'll need a t-case too. if your peugeot transmission works fine now, it should keep working fine in the future. just make sure you keep the oil level up and don't abuse it.

peugeot = splits into a left and right half of the case AX-15 = splits into a front half and rear half. peugeot circled on the right:
  20. yup, factory vent windows for XJ/MJs. score!
  21. Skyline ftw!
