Yup, I find it depends a lot on the condition of the leafs. I had horrible wrap back when the 88 was 2wd, but later found out that I had a broken leaf on each side. I simply added a second main MJ leaf in below my mains as helpers when I went SOA (and of course I replaced the broken leafs).

Yeah, someone else screwed something up. Hopefully nothing permanant happened to us, but we were offline while the host tried to fix things.

You were expiriencing that just before the glitches with the host started. Are you still seeing them?

Might be that the little return spring is dying. Or that the cable is getting stuck and not retracting all the way. Or that one of the latches is still sticking. And how on earth did I miss your post? :hmm:

I didn't see that particular episode, but I remember one on extreme 4x4 where they mentioned that somehow a grade 5 bolt got into the suspension on one of the rigs and it broke, causing a chain reaction of destruction. :thwak:

He would be in North Bay Ontario, or about 575 miles north of you. :D If this truck is in good shape besides the rear frame area, you should be able to find someone who wants to build up a trail rig. Beds are overated anyway. :D

Absolutely. I have Rustys 3" coils and love the performance I get from them on my trail rig. They're rusty as all hell though. The powdercoating/paint or whatever that black coating was didn't last long at all.

Not to be confused with "dualing" MJ's. :D 8) Or Dually MJs. :D

An AW-4 itself is longer than an AX-15 so the d-shafts will be off by like an inch or so (with the AX-15 having the longer d-shaft). If he's adding a lift, he might be able to use that extra inch.

Do they make a Detroit for the AMC-20? If they do, that's what I would get if I was running such a big tire. :D

Anyone can use any of my pics at any time. :D As I understand it: -MJs only have the one O2 sensor -the front valve in an MJ is a combination valve, aka, just a splitter. In an XJ, it's a proportioning valve.

The Explorer leafs measure in at ~.325" thick, stock MJ leafs are ~.300". But the Explorer leafs don't get thinner at all at the ends.

It's probably not applicable to most trucks, but I bolted my hilift to my rollbar.

Brakes lines are coming along nicely.

I did my first bastard pack using the entire Exp pack (with the eyes cut off) and a 4wd MJ main leaf on top. Got 20" (and undoubtedly a greater hauling capacity, though it's hard for me to determine exactly how much).

Lower control arm bushings?

Don't know why I didn't do it last night, but I just measured the other side and got 19". The 18" side has a couple t-case in the bed on that side. :dunce: I also mounted up one of my other set of Exp leafs and I got the same result.

oh, I'm betting it did, but the truck has been on stands since long before I got the Exp leafs so I never thought to take a "before" measurement. Next I want to try the first iteration of a bastard pack by cutting off the eyes of the explorer pack and adding an MJ main to the top. That way the tire should be centered and I'll have the extra leaf in there like I always envisioned. But I felt I needed to try out the stock Explorer crap first for a baseline. Of course, even when everything is all said and done, I still don't know if these leafs I bought are the soft packs or the stiff packs. :(

Truck is on the ground and I measure ~18" from the hub center to the bottom of the flare. The tire seems to be ~1/2" forward of being centered in the wheel well.

If you're not too picky about stuff, my 86 runs off of only a few essential wires. :D (most of the ones you see don't do anything) Previous owner removed the dash due to a wire fire and never put it back. Ran a couple wires to get it moving around the farm and that was it. I bought it and added a few more so the wipers and turn/brake lights worked and even added the speedo. Runs good enough for what I need out of her. :D
