  1. That would be the fuel pump. ;) Actually, in his case I'm betting it's the ABS pump.
  2. Other issues can be a bad switch (located in the passenger side of the trans I think) or corrosion in the harness connector located right behind the drivers side rear tire.
  3. Does the Dana30 have the 297 U-joints? Is the 8.25 a 97+? Jeep on! --Pete
  4. I've heard no definitive answer on that. We can assume so, but I would take a tape measure to the junkyard to take measurements and even pop the cover to check spline count before plunking down money on a sport-trac. Ford has done some really screwy things over the years. :(
  5. Don't sink a penny into a Dana 35. Go find yourself a better axle (MJ/XJ Dana 44 or Explorer 8.8) and put your money towards something worth while. Plus you can find 8.8s with 3.55/3.73.4.10 gears and with/without a posi.
  6. AX-5 won't come behind a 4.0L.
  7. You can't find a donor block? :hmm:
  8. What axles are going with these 36s?
  9. There will be one more out there as soon as my 90 is finished. :D I like the all-wheel-drive option for a daily driver.
  10. Sweeeeeeeet! I can't go, but sweet none the less. :D I probably can't do much of anything until this dang semester is over. :(
  11. Yes. XJ leafs are outboard of the frame rails, while MJ leafs are directly below. But MJs have a wider frame out back so the difference is only a small amount, but more than enough that the leaf bushings would suffer immensly.
  12. I have a massive Borla under my 88. It's nice and quiet when idling, with just a bit of rumble. Nothing obnoxious until I step on the gas. :D I like it. I bought a used dual system for my 90 and am real interested in what it sounds like. Someday I might find out. :(
  13. 95-01 Explorer have disks, but the older ones are just as strong and the drums are still better than your Dana 35 brakes. The key is getting the right gear ratio. Nows the time to consider an upgrade if you have larger tires. 8.8s can be had in 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10. car-part.com can help with your search for an axle. Oh, and it has to come from an Explorer/Mountineer, as any other 8.8 will either have the wrong wheel bolt pattern, be the wrong width, or be of inferior strength. Check these sites for pointers on the 8.8 swap: http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/ford88.html http://xjfanatic.com/ford88.php Oh, and XJ perches are farther apart than MJ perches, not the other way around.
  14. Nope, SUA.
  15. Maybe a bad vacuum leak in the brake booster?
  16. But Ford is a necessary evil. How else would poor shlubs like myself afford stronger high-pinion front axles. :D
  17. I've already got double MJ mains in the 88 and love it, but the 88 is far from stock so this could be a completely different experience on the 90.

    Go Tigers!!

Too bad they're swinging golf clubs now-a-days. :D
  19. I'm looking for a "controlled" ride. Just stiff enough to control wrap, control sway, and give me more load capacity. It's only one more leaf than stock, but I have absolutely no idea what it will be like. :dunno: I've got plenty of leafs lying around now, so I can keep fine-tuning.
  20. I've changed the leaf pack slightly. The one MJ leaf has 2 retention bands on it so I'm swapping it with the Explorer counterpart. So now the pack goes -MJ main -Explorer main without eyes and the ends are now tapered -Explorer -MJ with the retention bands -Explorer overload Photos/measurements coming soon. I'm having a bit of an issue since I decided to go with the Explorer's larger bolt (doesn't fit in the axle's spring perch hole).

    Go Tigers!!

World Series here we come!!! :jump:
  22. My thoughts are that with a tire that tall, you want to be as wide as possible to avoid being tipsy. Wider is better. :D
  23. An SOA lift varies. On any particular truck, going SOA will result in the truck being 5.5-6" higher than it was previously. But if you buy a front lift that advertises a certain height, the back end may not match the front because the rear height is relative and varies depending on the type of leafs used (2wd are about 1" shorter than 4wd) or how worn out or broken the old leafs are. Another variable is how much weight is in the bed. Some guys wheel with nothing but a spare tire, I have a custom rollbar, heavy bumper, and bring a bunch of spare parts/tools/gas/etc.
