  1. I've got an 87 with the 2.5L, 5-speed, 4x4, posted for $500. And an 86 with the 2.5L, 5-speed, 2x4, posted for $300. Both are located in Michigan, and both have rust problems around the wheel wells, but could make a good parts truck for you. Check the link if interested, there is a link in it for a bunch of pictures. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=19835
  2. Anyone want to haul a Comanche from Northern Michigan to Pennsylvania for two fellow Comanche Club users??
  3. I've got an 1987 MJ with the 2.5 and 4x4 posted in the for sale section. Would be a good parts truck for you. Located in Northern Lower Michigan. Asking $700 obo.
  4. To the best of my knowledge, my NP 231 is the original transfer case, however the previous owner supposedly rebuilt it. I just wanted to verify the spline count for the output shaft. JeepcoMJ: (I forget how to quote somebody) How do you know if you have a long or short output seal depth?
  5. Thats too much work. Just going for quick and easy here. Anyone else know of a good place to get one. Bosses money, might as well do it right.
  6. I have not been on here for a while since my comanche "died", but alas my comanche may live again!! I have just about convinced my boss to buy my comanche from me for a work vehicle. He's gonna pay me for it, and pay for the repairs (new tranny) and I'll probably still get to drive it. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself. So my question is, where can I find a good deal on a transmission, either rebuilt or new? I believe I have the NP231, is that 23 spline or 21?
  7. Well, it's been about 2 weeks and I haven't had any problems since.
  8. I've got the same problem. Thought it was the throwout bearing too, had a new clutch kit put in, but the noise is still there. I was later told that it's not the throwout bearing if the noise stops when you push in your clutch. Likely the "pocket" bearing on the input shaft making noise when the input shaft and cluster shaft are spinning at different speeds. It probably won't make the noise in 4th gear, when the shaft ratio is 1:1.
  9. You could try asking one of these guys. http://www.jeeps-offroad.com/yj-technic ... -help.html
  10. What engine parts are compatable between the 2.5L and 4.0L engine? Water pump? Alternator? Starter? Coil? Belts? Pulleys? Radiator? Air intake? What else?
  11. Well, I'll keep you posted. So far its starting fine. Yeah, got it, thanks. I'd love to add another needed part to my list. I might as well buy a new truck with all the parts that should be replaced. How much does a decent set of cables go for?
  12. If this is the case, why would it start up so easily with a jump?[/url]
  13. Well, I took the battery and starter to get tested and both tested good. Checked over the cables, seem ok, not the greatest shape, but ok. Tried to loosen the bolt for the ground on the engine to clean it, but couldn't loosen it, sprayed WD40 on it, but still stuck. Then I put the battery and starter back in. Turn the key and it started right up. Starts fine now. Not really sure what the problem was. Maybe a bad connection somewhere, but seems odd that it started with a jump from another vehicle. Maybe the ground on the engine wasn't making good contact and the WD40 helped. I don't know. What do you guys think it was?
  14. Yeah, sounds like we're having the same problem. I've cleaned the battery terminals, whacked the started, and still just clicks. I haven't tested the battery, but all my accessories work fine. Any ideas? Starter?
  15. No start this morning. Just clicked when turned the key. All my accesories and lights seemed fine and bright. Jumped it with another car, it clicked once and then started up. Let it run for a little while, shut it off, tried again....just clicks. I think it is my starter or starter solenoid. Any way to figure out for sure which one it is? Starter relay maybe? Help me out please. Would a weak battery be related to this problem?
