  1. 5 days nothin'. I leave in a couple hours and will be away from my dogs and trucks for almost 10 full days. :( By some weird happenstance, my mom (a teacher in Detroit) has the exact same week off as my sis (a teacher in Atlanta) and so that is the annual migration to Disney World. I should be able to get some irregular internet time, but who knows when or how much. :dunno:
  2. Yeah it's a shame, but I feel it's a necessary evil so people having problems can still post. All 9 of the spam posts today came from a single IP addy so of course it's now very, very banned. :D
  3. XJ shackles would lower by 1/2" and you'd lose some suspension travel because the shackle won't allow full movement.
  4. Coils are only one part of a 6" lift. There's control arms, trac bar, etc. to think about.
  5. Could you expand on that? You're contemplating a huuuuuge investment in time and money when it could be as simple as replacing the TPS or cat.
  6. The ground itself isn't a pain per se, it's when you forget about it and you go crazy trying to figure out why your lights or fuel pump won't work that's a pain in the butt. :D
  7. I don't understand what you're asking. :hmm: How much lift are you looking for? Going SOA and then adding a spacer between the leaf and axle is a poor idea. Spring-wrap gets very bad.
  8. Yup, you're right that you're wrong. All Explorer 8.8s have 31 spline shafts, disk or drum. It's the rangers and cars that have the 28 spline.
  9. I'll be out of town Feb 16-25 (Disney vacation ) and I don't know how much internet access I'll have (we're camping this year). I'm going to leave the anti-spam stuff in place (we get at least 2 potential spammers every day) so if anyone notices a new member having sign-up difficulties, please let them know I'll fix it the instant I get a chance. Last year my souvenir of the trip was a pair of rust free MJ leafs I snagged from a local junkyard. :D No plans for anything like that this year though. :( Guess I'll just put my money into mousy bars. :D
  10. It's an AMC engine. But it does have the 60* GM transmission bolt pattern.
  11. Just a slight mod/addition to the above facts. All Explorer rear axles are 31 spline. The 28 spline ones are found in cars and rangers and they are too narrow or have the wrong bolt pattern. All 95+ Explorer 8.8s have disks. car-part can help you find either axle.
  12. That ain't his; he's never owned anything that nice :brows:  :D This ones mine (well, one of my three):
  13. You mean 2.5L/stick for 4.10s, right? :D
  14. That's a looooong drive just to drink. Plus by the time you can, you'll probably need a passport to get across the border. :(
  15. If you think you're shocked now, just wait 'til you ask for prices.

    SNOW

Yeah, I can't wait to get out and play in the minivan. :( Stupid non-running MJs. At least our family now has the diesel Liberty. That should be enough to give me my 4x4 fix. :D
  17. I got my Dana 44 from JW. Definitely pricey, but in their defense I did get a perfect condition 44 shipped across the country (and it even arrived on time).
  18. Either one works. :D We have a nice selection of pissed off and frustrated smilies. :headpop:  :hateputers: :wall:

    Oil Change

That's what I thought, just wanted to be sure.
  20. 3/4 elliptical: http://jeeptech.com/susp/elliptical.html
  21. This is something I've ran thru my mind alot, From what I could see from searching, the MJ has a removable bed, if I were to just remove the bed and install my flatbed I shouldn't affect the structural support any. Yup, the bed is definitely removable.
  22. Aren't XJ owners constantly complaining that there's no flex in their leafs? MJ leafs are some of the best leafs out there! And I'll get even more once I dump the stock shocks this spring. :D
  23. I've seen it in magazines where a guy will add little wheels or casters to the leaf springs at the back (or front if the rig has front leaf springs). Doesn't sound all that hard to pull off and I guess the truck will roll off the rocks. :dunno: Also seen it done on the corners of bumpers.
  24. I pieced together my set from 4 different rusty MJ packs (each had one broken leaf in it). They have held up well, but I'm going to be building a new set come springtime using rust free packs (from Florida). They will be similar, but the extra main leaf will be from an Explorer pack. I'm seriously considering adding a half-leaf on top. For the life of me I can't remember what the name of this technique is, but I saw it in one of my magazines a while back. You mount the half-leaf to the top of the pack facing forwards. Then you make a retainer bracket that hold the end of the leaf loosely to the pack below it. The theory is that the new half-leaf will help fight the front of the pack from pulling up from spring wrap, but won't affect the stuff and drop of the suspension. I wish I had a picture of it, as it sounds really cool. :(
