  1. If you need it, here's the page from the shop manual:
  2. I don't know of any "slotted" CPS and all I can think of is this mod done to any ol' CPS to make is easier to install (since you can thread in the bolts first, then put the CPS in, then tighten the bolts down). Jeep on! --Pete
  3. 86 was a crazy year for gearing and the only reliable way to tell is to look for a tag, turn the tire and count the d-shaft rotations, or check the stamping in the side of the ring gear.
  4. The Jeep 2.5L will need the CPS in order to run. Did Chevy ever use the CPS on the bellhousing like Jeep?
  5. My newest MJ was very difficult to shift out of 4wd for the drive home (from the previous owner's house). I had to use a wrench underneath while a buddy pushed the lever. The whole time I was thinking it was a bad t-case (I planned to swap in a 242 so I didn't care), but it turned out that it was just rust build-up in the lever housing in the cab. The rest of the linkage and t-case worked just fine. :D

    Made it back

Haven't had any leakage with mine and I've had them for maybe 8 years now. :D But then with a fullsize one I guess the roof might flex more and cause the seals to crack? :dunno:

    Year question

The AW-4 is a tough trans, but persistent stupidity can destroy anything. :D
  8. Sorry, had to type it quick, apparently a bit too quick. :D I had a 4 channel amp powering the front speakers and the 6x9s and another 2 channel powering the sub. I then took out the 6x9s and the 2 channel amp and ran the sub off the first amp. I also had a small equalizer in the mix too. Later on I stole the 4 channel amp and sub for use in the dakota and found that the radio alone couldn't put out enough sound to be heard over the wind noise of my truck doing 65 across Kansas (with the windows down) so I will probably steal the radio and speakers and put them into the 90 (with a new amp I'm sure). Eventually I'll probably put my new CB in the 88's radio hole, but that's a story for another day... :D
  9. I had the infinity 5.25 components and a quality 8" sub in a small sealed box. Powered them with a 4x75rms amp. I had 6x9s in boxes for a while but eventually just removed them. Sounded great without them. :D
  10. The 2.8 and 3.4 are pretty much the same motor. The 4.3 is very different. If it was my truck I'd sell the drivetrain and get a 3.4L.
  11. Could it have been a manufacturing problem rather than an XJ/MJ difference?
  12. What about swapping in a better master? http://madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/techni ... pgrade.htm

    Year question

Check the fuse and it could also be a bad trans computer.
  14. Good for you! Now go to mozilla.com and get firefox. :D Be sure to download the "ad blocker" and "spellchecker" add-ons.
  15. I seem to remember they are essentially identical on the outside. Can't be certain though since I've never actually touch either one before. :dunno:
  16. I usually right-click on the image and select "copy link location". Then come here and paste. Then highlight the link and click on the IMG button.
  17. The floor looks like my 90's.
  18. So am I! :D (for 2 more days at least :( )
  19. I'm talking about the axles, not the leafs. I don't know much of anything about what leafs work best for a front setup.
  20. Feels like I'm shifting a big rig. :D It's not for everyone.
  21. Technically, he asked if an AX-15 will replace a Peugeot (ba-10/5) and the answer is yes, sorta. The T-case from the Peugeot will be 21 spline and the AX-15 will be 23 spline so you'll need a matching t-case too. Run a quick search for the swap and it should come up with plenty of other little details I'm forgetting.
  22. And you'll probably want to reuse the transmission shifter from your truck. I know the TJ one is waaay different so I assume the YJ one would be too.
  23. I have a love/hate relationship with my front mini-spool (78 ford axle) and have finally decided that it will be coming out. I'm sick and tired of not being able to turn the steering wheel, or even if I can turn the wheel, not being able to turn the truck. It's hard enough following TJs on the tight trail without having to muscle through 3 or 5 point turns every 2 minutes. Traction is INCREDIBLE though and someday I hope to have the funds available for a selectible locker. In the meantime, I got a good deal on a lockright and it will be taking the minispool's place come springtime. At least that way I can shift into 2wd and the front will unlock for turns.
  24. Long arms or drop brackets will both work. Look up the rubiconexpress.com SOA lift for the MJ and you'll see a list of what's needed to do 6" properly. http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Products. ... 3F2E865797 You can sorta see the upper mounts here: I can't find any pics of a stock leaf pack, but it consists of 4 total leafs(unless you happen to have a Metric Ton, which has 5 total), one fat one at the bottom and 3 more above it, the ends of which should be evenly spaced from each other (if that makes any sense). Here's my 88 after the SOA, but before the 33s:
