  1. Are they wires? Or colorful vacuum tubes?
  2. The truck starts losing power. Eventually it'll just keep stalling out.
  3. My 86 MT has 4+1
  4. WooooooHoooooooo!!!
  5. The tow prep package and the Big ton package were separate items. His being a short bed, it won't have the Metric Ton package.
  6. So, Dirty is saying that clutches can't stand up to winter wheeling in deep snow, and Eagle is saying that normal driving isn't harsh abuse. Yes? I think you two are arguing over different things.
  7. Looks clean and original. Nice find! Rims are a bit on the gaudy side though...
  8. No jokes about it being one foot in the grave. Way too easy. :D

We have one. or had one. or something. I remember trying to get it running, but failing miserably. I don't remember what came of it.

Sorta. In lieu of a functioning one on the site, some of the guys came up with one based off-site. See the post above in the announcements.
  12. Those were the theoretical reasons for Jeep going wiht the design. To bad it never showed any measurable gains in any area. Jeep eventually ditched the whole problematic concept and all new Jeeps have a solid axle shaft on the passenger side.
  13. I would throw on a replacement filter without changing the oil. Then if nothing differs, i would change the oil with a thicker oil. If it's still acting funny, I'd then move on to more drastic measures. If it was my truck, I would like to know the exact cause. And if you change everything all at once and it works, you won't know which one it was. :redX: It could be as simple as a failed oil filter.
  14. sprinkle a little baby powder in the suspect areas and break out the garden hose. The trickles of water will make trails through the baby powder. That's how I found the hidden leaks in my Dakota and MJs.
  15. I got 25 points out of the Packers Defense today. Might have had something to do with playing the Lions. :D And I noticed that my kicker Jason Hanson (Lions) got me 13 points. Always always bet on the lions sucking. Even with an inept QB and 2 WRs, I still got a ton of points this week. I feel much better after getting hosed last week due to injuries.
  16. Yup. When I can. I don't own a 360 so my playing time is dismal. :(
  17. Looks like we're on. :D I've gotta run over to my grandma's to figure out why the house lost power, but I'll call you later today to work out a plan.
  18. I doubt you'll have to go anywhere anytime soon. But I need to get a hold of the guy to see if they are still available. :redX:
  19. Nah, just forgotten. :( I really should bump that up on the priority list.
  20. When offroad, having more traction is almost always better. The street is a very unique place. It's very very flat and you're generally driving at much higher speeds. These combine to cause all sorts of calamity. Well, the ring/ pinion and an install kit. But no, you won't need a new carrier. Just make sure the locker you purchase matches the gear ratio you want. (they have ratio breaks, just like carriers)
  21. On slippery roads (snow, ice, rain, etc), having any sort of posi or locker in the rear can increase the chance of the rear end sliding around when the vehicle is turning a corner or such. It's especially bad for pickups since we don't have much weight over the rear tires. If the rear differential is open, then when one tire starts spinning, the other one will act as a rudder, helping to maintain a straight line. Having said that, it's possible to spin out in an open rig, and it's possible to drive just fine in a posi/locked rig. You just need to adjust your driving style to accommodate the particular quirks of the rig.
  22. In any slippery situation, a locker will keep both tires churning. mud, snow, sand, gravel, etc. A posi will try hard to keep both tunrnig, but can only do so much. In my eyes, the big advantage of a locker, is that there are certain kinds that can be installed in place of the spider gears without any costs associated with re-setting up the gears (not cheap). All posi diffs will incur this cost since they all replace the carrier. Some lockers replace the carrier, some don't.
  23. There is no noticeable difference in anything. That's the big reason Jeep dumped the design completely.
  24. I still have to call the guy tomorrow, so this could all be moot. But there's a set of tires in Kennesaw, GA (northwest of Atlanta) that I'd like to get to either Newnan, GA (southwest) or Loganville, GA (east). Anyone driving a leg of that triangle some time this week? :brows:

    Score!

I'll take any excuse to hit the pull-your-part. Ya never know what you'll find. :D
