I get 25 mpg from a 208k mile hrysler minivan (the "C" fell off) with the 3.3L engine. Just throwing that out there. I mean YJs are cool and all, but nothing impresses your friends like a minivan. :D

I thought about the triangulation and decided it wasn't necessary. But it can't hurt, so if you want to, go for it. :thumbsup:

Go find some ZJ disks in the junkyard and put them on. :D And just because you don't have any fab tools now, doesn't mean you shouldn't go get some basics stuff. A decent corded drill and an angle grinder can go a long way toward making yourself self-sufficient. :thumbsup:

Actually, the 2.5L/auto combo should have 4.56 gears. Double check that on the diff cover tag.

Is it a 4speed manual or a 5speed manual?

Find out what year and model Jeep it came from. Those tidbits will be important later when you're shopping for certain parts.

Those should work fine. They are a generic truck bumper and should come with the adapter brackets to mate to your stock brackets. I just noticed that the bumper is $144, but the bumper with the adapters is $194.

You said he said it was for a TJ, but you'll need to find out what it's out of to know what brakes it needs. And yeah, $300 is on the low end for getting gears done. But I've seen guys that say they've gotten it done for even less. Usually 300 is enough to scare guys out of regearing the axles they've got. I guess I should quote a higher price in the future? :D And I still wouldn't pay 650 for a used Dana 30. The last one I bought I paid $100. :popcorn:

XJ shocks mount very differently than MJs.

Perches are for the leafs. Shock mounts are for the shocks. The XJ shock mounts will need to be cut off. MJ shock mounts are integrated into the leaf pack, sorta, and can be bolted into the new arrangement no problemo.
